This place was packed for fathers day. They closed early tonight as well. We made reservations as we had a big party. I had never been here before but this place is good!! I have the steak ranchero. The best ive ever had. Highly recommend. Tho the area isnt so great.

Love the food at El Novillero. Hot, tasty food & plenty of it on your plate. Great service and relaxing friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend carnitas my personal favorite.

This is a great place to celebrate something with a lot of people. The food was terrific and the salsa was big hit, they couldn’t keep it on the table as we were devouring it. There are a lot of of things to look at in the restaurant. Restrooms were clean and tidy. The staff were on there game, they were wonderful. Make sure if you when a large party you make reservations as this place is popular.

The restaurant is extremely authentic on the inside and out. Your senses will be delighted when eating here. I highly recommend this joint if you are looking for a nicer sit down Mexican restaurant. If you decide to eat here, you should consider reserving a table a day prior. In the pictures below: regular burrito plate, two street taco plate. Their normal chips and salsa are incredible as well!(they have flour chips you can order for a small expense that are even better)

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before now! My wife introduced me to this place when we were dating and it has been my favorite (and her families) favorite Mexican place ever since. They make the food perfectly and it tastes so amazing. I've tried various places around me but nothing compares to here and we are willing to drive the hour or so to eat here. If you haven't been here, you should! (They do cook with lard, so vegetarians and vegans wouldn't find much if anything to eat here). Cannot recommend this place enough though!

A large amount of yummy food. My own personal regret was that they didn't have anything on the menu like sopaipillas or fried ice cream. We had multiple servers checking up on us. It was a beautiful big building with a large parking lot to accommodate the large amounts of customers that eat there. We were from out of town and would stop in again if we passed this way. Both of our plates were $23 plus tax and tip.

My absolute FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in all of Sacramento, which is saying a lot! Love the restaurant atmosphere and decorations. Been family run for like 50 years, my boyfriend says the same waiters have worked there for at least 30 years❤️ So so yummy and great nostalgia 😍

I've been coming here for 5 years now. Food is good. Prices have gone up considerably over the past year or two and their hours shorten. I'll continue to come whenever I crave that crunchy taco.

It's been YEARS since I've ventured over for dinner and I have no idea why I waited. The restaurant is one of those classic yesteryear locations with so much personality. We arrived pretty late - 6:40 and they close at 7. No worries, they would seat us and we could enjoy our dinner. The carnitas were cooked to perfection - juicy, flavorful, not too greasy. We probably could have split a plate - so much good food. Glad we didn't because the leftovers caused lunch envy the next day.
