Boxcar

This place was amazing!!! We had these donuts at a friends wedding so we decided to come and check out the actual location. These donuts were absolutely amazing!!! I also had a latte which was also very good. Highly recommend. My daughter came along and she had a lot of fun trying to find all the dinosaurs that are hidden around the shop. We will definitely be coming back again! There is free parking across the street. And there is some indoor seating and also a few tables and chairs outside as well.

Like a fun ex girlfriend, this hipster donut shop is pretty but pricey 😬. That said, the creations made here are aesthetically pleasing with new designs being offered frequently. Most donuts here seem to be yeast based which may be why the texture is more fluffy then the crunch you might get from traditional fry cakes. Don't make the same mistake I did by coming to this shop after noon and expecting any type of variety to still be available ☺️.

Love a good specialty donut store so Boxcar would fit the description. Their donuts are well made and well fried whether a yeast or cake donut. The flavors don't all work so well so they aren't the best donuts I've had. I also find that dinge of the glazes are a little thick and the colors are not always the most appetizing. I will still eat donuts here as they are good.

I’ve been enjoying for years! Almost always filled with quick and friendly staff. It’s a small joint, so sometimes “busy” looks overwhelming, but staff handles it well. It’s simply aesthetic inside, for those that enjoy taking artsy pictures — I’ll admit, I’ve participated 😅 The unique donuts are certainly works of art, as well! My favorite for a while used to be fruity pebbles on top (attached a picture for reference). The only unfortunate thing is the pricing.

I love the variety of donuts here. So many and I thought Donuts Delight had a lot of choices, wow these are so good. A little on the pricey side for donuts but very good none the less. This is something my wife and I will treat ourselves with maybe once in a while. If they were a little cheaper we would probably go here more but some of the ones we got a few days ago for example for the donut we got was $4.00. I would recommend giving this place a try.

Wow! An absolute hidden gem of Rochester! I am sad we waited so long to visit. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. I am not the biggest doughnut fan but Boxcar made me a believer! These are far from your average doughnuts! The seating area includes large tables that would be great for getting friends or family together! We will certainly be returning, bringing friends, and taking some doughnuts for the road! I must add the chicken waffles were also amazing! Certainly the best I have ever had! Bonus is it came with real maple syrup (rare in restaurants!)

Nice ambient, good food. A tad pricey, but that's for quality. One star off for the fried chicken being undercooked and was also bland. I mean, the coating was good, the crispiness is right on, but the inside was tasteless. I got "the glazed", which was a fried chicken piece in a glazed donut bun. That dish was awesome. Good taste, texture, and combo of flavors.
