Nice surprise! We are Short Pumpers and decided to stop in on a Tuesday night. Decent crowd- nice atmoshpere. Great service. Started with bruscetta- nice and fresh on just toasted bread. Dinner, she got meat raviolli, he got spinach and ricotta canneloni. Both were wonderful. Finished with pistatio gelato - ahhhhh. Will come again!
Delicious!!. I first tried Maldini's in Forest Hill with a LivingSocial purchase and I have since returned due to the excellent quality of their food....Linguine Pescatore is perfection and all seafood has been tender and flavorful! The homemade cheese ravioli in a homemade sage sauce is also delicious! Given that items are made to order, it is not a speedy dining experience but with bread, salads and food to look forward to, the wait is bearable. The outside does not look like much, but all is deceiving as everything I've had is wonderfully balanced with quality and freshness.
Love it!. I have to be honest and say we have never tried their pizza. But with that said, I have to tell you, we have enjoyed every meal we have eaten at Maldinis. The waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable right down to the wine suggestions for our meals. The ambience is friendly and relaxed. It is definitely worth a try. It's just genuinely good food.
I live right around the corner from Maldinis and I've eaten there more times than I can count. I'm so sorry to those who had a bad experience because typically Maldinis food is on point- especially their pizza. Their pesto gnocchi is another favorite of mine as well as the strombolli- unbeatable.
Good Neighborhood Italian. I guess it's personal preference, but Maldini's is our favorite Westover Hill's eating spot. Love our usual waiter with the Italian accent.
My wife switches between the white fish and the Zuppa di pesce. She loves the zuppa sauce so much, we take the leftover home. I really like the thin-crust pepperoni pizza, but their Rockfish dish (when available) is fantastic. The seasoning and caper sauce on the fish is what makes it a treat.
Best Italian in Richmond. I'd have to say its the best Italian in Richmond I've found. Nice family owned, amazing authentic food.
Relaxed hometown vibe. Was here for a fantastic multi-course meal. The staff was friendly and right on top off all requests. It was a wedding party meal, all set into place by my brother-in-law.
The food was fantastic, some of the freshest pasta I ever had. While on a stroll through the place I saw some picture perfect pizza.
This is a special place for me. Good food and good people. What a nice time we all had . Go VCU Rams!
The food is great, service is decent but the decor misleading leads you to expect that the service will be extremely fast, when in reality the food is prepared with a high level of care that takes time. Proper expectations are essential, although if you order one of the specials I 100% guarantee any expectations will be surpassed. Order the zuppa di pesce and thank me later.
Mostly a Hit. Maldini's service can be a little long, but they are always friendly and the food is always good. Great pizza also.
Seriously.... I can't lie, I've never actually eaten INSIDE of Maldini's but they deliver and it's no joke. We order from Maldini's at least once a week.
They are always super nice and they'll deliver anything on the menu. I've tried just about everything on their menu and its great. If you just want a pizza and wings or a sub, call them you'll love it. If you want lasagna or ravioli, they'll deliver it piping hot to your door.
Now I need to actually go in, sit down, and enjoy a meal at Maldini's!
Good food I found randomly on Google maps, because my wife lasy name is Maldini. The downside was that as we enter the person at front said in a lil stresful way: we are full right now, we will have space available until 15 20 minutes. (But no hello, welcome etc).
Later at our table she was calmer, she breathe in and help us out as we ordered.
So maybe service needs to handle the stresses of the moment better.
But the food was delicious. Great pizza and great gnocchis. Would recommend.
Hadn't been in forever. When I lived in Forest Hill Terrace, it was one of my go-to restaurants. My experience May 11, 2023 was excellent. I had the seafood; my dining partner the chicken. Easier on the wallet than many current Richmond restaurants these days, which I appreciate.
Absolutely wonderful experience here. Had the best vegetarian lasagna I’ve ever had. The sauce reminds me of my dad’s from when I was growing up. Took home some tiramisu and that was also a dream. I can tell just from these that they make all the food with love. Our waitress was excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back!
There are a couple bad reviews but I can't believe it myself. I eat there often with my Niece. She gets the super delicious shrimp Alfredo and it delivers every time. I always get something different. Last time I had the duck. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Also all the pasta is home made, made from scratch, which is why it tastes so smooth, rich and delicious. There’s nothing like homemade made from scratch pasta. I watched Marcello pulling the homemade spaghetti noodles from the machine. Store box pasta just isn’t the same as made from scratch. The next day we came back and I had the super delicious rockfish. Like I said, we eat there often and always leave satisfied!
This place has delicious Italian food and great atmosphere for a lunch date on a weekday. Pizza had some fresh crunch, mozzarella, and artichokes. The chicken alfredo is not your average boxed alfredo, it's gotta touch of Italy splash. Highly recommend and the staff is awesome.
Exceptional. We went for the first time 3 days ago. We have been back each day since to try new things. So happy to have this in Richmond. You can taste the love.
Went for lunch so YMMV. Promptly seated upon entry, friendly and attentive service. Pizza was good, I got the Maldini special. Coworkers got a veggie pizza and pasta and they seemed to like it as well. Overall it was a good experience.
My food was very delicious. I had the personal pan pizza with sausage topping. For dessert, cannoli with a couple cups of coffee. My whole order, with tip was about $18.60. I thought the price was very reasonable. My waitress was very friendly and helpful. And the restaurant was clean and it had a steady flow of customers.
My only complaints were they seemed short staffed. My waitress was the only staff member I could see helping customers, and no rest rooms available, at least that is what it said on the entrance doors.
With that said, I still return to this restaurant and try their other dishes.
Best Italian joint I’ve ever been to! The food was phenomenal and service was speedy. We even had my special needs brother with us who can only eat puréed food and drink milk and the owner sent someone out to get milk for him from the store and made a custom puréed meal for him. In the 19 years of my brothers life, we’ve never had someone offer to custom make his food so that he could eat with us as well, it really touched my heart and made out stay in Richmond that much better. Stand up restaurant with phenomenal staff and service.
We were traveling through Richmond and my wife wanted Italian food for lunch. We found Maldini's on Google and decided to try it. The atmosphere and the food are definitely Italian.
The customer service was very good and courteous. That explains 17 years in business in the same location.
My wife had the chicken alfredo and it was great. The pasta definitely tates like it was homemade.
I had spaghetti ragu and it was very good as well.
We're just passing thru....but if we ever pass thru again and it's lunch time, we will make sure to visit with Maldini.
