The food is to die for! Especially the butternut ravioli and there desert bombas. All of there food is beautifully prepared and the service is excellent.

To Lexgirl01 / Previous Comment. Coincidentally I was at the register waiting for a carry-out order when you were checking out. I've been eating at Angelas for years and I have never had a bad experience. There are occasions that I've had to wait a little longer for a meal, but its always worth it.

I ate at Angela's about 2 Fridays ago from today (3/25/12) and man I'm kicking my self right now for not informing Richmond earlier about the greatest joint In the city! I'm writing now because I've eaten at many other Italian joints over these past 2 weeks ( none of which were corporate) and I honestly realized what a power house this little place was. I arrived on that Friday at about 7:45, my wife and I walked in the front door and suddenly were stopped by probably 120 people, 100 eating, 20 waiting. It only took about 15 minutes to seat us which wasn't bad in my mind for how small the place was and the amount of people that were in there. The hostess brought us to our table and what do you know, she put us right in front of the action ( which i thought was an amazing show). Chef Michael and his young prodigy that looked about 16 were incredible, they made culinary arts look like it should be on Espn instead of food network! For our appetizer we ordered fried calamari and mussels maranara, the calamari were flawless in flavor and presentation, the mussels were beyond belief. Our server Melissa ( hope I got that right) was great and very accommodating. We placed our order for supper and continued to watch the show. I'd say at about 8:20 I saw a lady bring in a ticket for delivery or take out in the kitchen and I herd vividly " this lady has 3 pizzas and wants them in 30 min if not she doesn't want em'" I saw chef Michael look at this kid and say something like " go for it" or "jump on it". This kid stops everything he's doing on the line and starts spinning pizza! Like are you kidding me? Where's the pizza guy? Better yet where's the double stack pizza oven?! There were neither. Next thing I knew 3 pizzas were in the oven in probably 4 minutes ( or what ever they cook them in). While this young kid was making pizza I then thought to my self " so chef Michael is cooking everything on his own?" yes he was, and it was just one of the most amazing things I had ever seen. I think my wife was having an affair with his talent as we were just shocked! Our entrees were a cognac asoh bucco for me, and my wife had a black truffle risotto. The flavors were stunning, the presentation was Picasso worthy, and the peace of mind where you can say, I can come back everyday and it won't change. Consistency people! My hats off to Angela's! I'll be back * if I were to write a con about this place and believe me I was looking for one, it would be the owners decision to have a total of 7 employees on a Friday night, nothing against chef Michael and his assistant, they were rocking that 2x2!kitchen!
Just delicious!. This place may not look like much based on the outside and it is located in a strip mall but it is all about the food here. It is consistently delicious and the staff is very friendly and professional. The portions are huge so there is usually the added bonus of a nice lunch the next day.
The menu is extensive with tons of specials and I have sampled so many items I don't even know what to recommend. I would say it is a safe bet that no matter what you order, you will be more than happy.
I just had dinner at Angela's and everything was impeccable. I walked in and was greeted by the lovely hostess, who I later found out was the owner. I had the new schrimp and asparagus risotto that was recommended by my server Annalisa, who was excellent. She knew all the specials and never wrote down our orders but remembered them perfectly. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli that was so good she got one to go too. We were so full but had desert anyway. We choose the owners home made lemon glaze cheesecake. Great dining experience. Worth the money.
My husband and I were invited to this place by our great friends that have been eating there for years. We were so excited to see what all the hype was about! Well the hype certainly lived up(besides our snooty waitress)! My husband had the veal valentia which was cooked perfectly. I had the wine maranara with mozzerella cheese and the taste was mesmerizing for Something so simple! We were even fortunate enough to talk to the owner as he and later on his wife approached our table while the meal was being cooked. Props to the lovely owners and the young chef!

Chef Michael Not there, Family Steps Up!. My Family and I eat at Angela's about twice a month, My Wife and i have been eating there for 21 years now, we have never entered Angela's with out being greeted by chef michael him self. This past sunday, we made one of our monthly trips and arrived at Angela's at about 5 o clock, As we walk in we see a young man I assumed to be one of Chef Michael's sons, and just two servers. Our waitress was a lovely young Asian woman and she arrived at the table immediately. For starters we ordered a fried calamari and portobella with crab appetizers, the presentation was Angela's quality... and the taste was great! As for dinner, My sons had a Large Cheese Pizza Pie, My wife had the steak and crab special, and I had the shrimp and scallop new orleans. We were stunned with the presentation and taste, it was all excellent. When we were finished the young man came out and introduced him self to us and it turned out he was Chef Michael's oldest son, Nino. We asked how old he was (expecting 24 or 25) and out came "im only 19 sir". He originally came to the table worried about the pizza as he said " pizza isnt really my thing", but it was wonderful my son loved it. Angela's is the best italian cuisine in Richmond, hands down Chef Michael's culinary talents exceed anybodies, anyone with taste buds should get to this local phenomenon.
Sunday Dinner. I grew up in the area and went to Angelas on special occasions. Moved away from RIC and just recently came back and wanted to try it again. I had forgotten how good the food was and will definitely put it into the rotation.
Always an amazing experience!! Best calamari anywhere and Chef Michael and Denise are such a great team and the whole staff is one family!! Eggplant, seafood new Orleans, filet with lump crab, chicken parm, veal Parmigiano were all stellar!!! Thanks for a great birthday dinner!! Oh yeah, DONT SKIP DESSERTS...Lemoncello marscapone cake, cannoli, raspberry/choc/caramel cheesecake, and profiteroles are fantastic too!! Shocker!!
An excellent Italian restaurant. Everything we had was tasty and perfectly cooked. For me personally, I think there was too much sauce for the amount of pasta and I did not care for all that parsley on top. Otherwise, everything else was perfect!
This Italian restaurant is amazing. My “ seafood scampi” was so yummy! The scallops and shrimps where so fresh and cooked perfectly. Definitely a must try while in Virginia. The service is also great!
This was a first dinner here. Came in about 5:15, which was a good idea because they fill up fast! Although they got very busy, our server Allie was attentive to everything we needed. The food was incredible, especially the wild mushroom ravioli and the canoli! We will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and service. I had the New Orleans seafood pasta dish and it was delicious. We will definitely go back.

I came to celebrate my birthday and was pleased! The owner is from Italy with a passion for cooking and a wife to support him. Together they have an excellent staff that made my experience here worth the while and worth returning. Thank you, and I shall return soon!
