Love Metzgers, so just had to go check out Brenner Pass in Scott's Addition. It's in a new building, so not as much character as an old, renovated warehouse. The interior is rather stark; all white, concrete floors, but lots of glass so can see outside. Currently that means looking out at a lot of construction, but will be nice when that's all done. Big bar area and a patio. But enough about how it looks! The food was amazing! A unique menu with lots of "strange names" that required a bit of explanation from our waitress, but she was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We started with the bread plate that had a variety of choices with house made butter and honey. We got two appetizers that were very flavorful with nice portions for sharing. Our entrees were perfection. I had the trout and my husband had the shellfish risotto. Both were delicious with a delicate combination of flavors that did not overpower the seafood but brought out the best flavors in all components. I love trout and this was the best I've ever eaten. Even though we were full, we had desserts. Both were large enough for sharing, so keep that in mind! A wonderful addition to the RVA food scene and a nice addition to this growing part of the city. Go and enjoy!

Fantastic meal! We enjoyed fried veal sweetbreads, braised rabbit, and shellfish risotto. All were prepared beautifully and were delicious! Service was friendly and efficient. Our server thoughtfully explained each dish to us and her recommendations were thoughtful and spot on! The Wine list was quite comprehensive and well thought out. Prices were reasonable and it was easy to find a wine that paired well with our selections. I would highly recommend Brenner Pass for anyone looking for a fine dining experience in the Richmond metro area.

How can I put into words the incredible dinner my husband and I shared at Brenner Pass?! We sat at the bar - the best place to sit - and were taken care of by our amazing bartender. Started off with killer cocktails, then oysters (probably the best I’ve had in years), sides, mains, and dessert. I mean, if you are going to do it, you got to do it right! Each item was better than the last and complement each other beautifully. A must go for a random Thursday night or for a special occasion.

A surprising good selection of seafood for an Alpine inspired restaurant. I really enjoyed my ribeye steak which had a nice char and good side of lightly creamed vegetables. My wife scallops were good, but not exceptional. The mushroom tart was very good and the flat bread was served hot and crisp, with a flavorful Raclette cheese. Service was nice and attentive. We would like to come back to try the fondue.

Looking for a cute romantic restaurant. I recommend giving this place a try. Service was 10/10, drinks were superb, I got the wine Horn State fair, tasted similar to an old fashion. dinner: the sea food tower was certainly eye catching and delicious but $80 was way over priced, baked oysters are a must try. Reseda Farms Ribeye was my main dish and wow it was 10/10!

Went here recently for a date night. I had to make reservations with my credit card and there was a $20/person fee for not showing or cancelling outside of the approved time frame. Needless to say, my expectations were high. Fortunately, Brenner's Pass came through. Out waitress ran through the reach of the menu items for us and gave us recommendations. We ordered the charcuterie board, scalloped potatoes, pork belly and trout. The charcuterie was very good, with several house made items. The scalloped potatoes were delicious. There was a significant wait for the main dishes to come out, but it was worth the wait. The pork belly was good, very tender. The pureed carrot was cold, not sure if it was supposed to be that way. I would've preferred it to be warm. The trout was good, skin was crispy. It came with a salsa that was very sweet. For dessert, we ordered the white chocolate pistachio cake, cantaloupe sorbet and cheesecake. All were very good. The sorbet tasted like they had blended frozen cantaloupes. The ambiance was a mixed bag. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was still light out, most of the tables were empty and it was pretty quiet. By the time we left, the restaurant was full, candles were lit and it was pretty noisy. Overall, a very good experience.

Probably one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Menu was varied & subtly complex. Food pairings were unexpected and delicious. Waiter (Grant) was knowledgeable about menu (both food & drink) and made fabulous suggestions. We tried several things that we weren’t sure about and loved everything. We ordered wines, mixed drinks, apps, entrees & desserts. Also pleasantly unrushed. If you get a chance to eat here, go! And ask for Grant as your waiter. Enjoy!

We haven’t even left and I had to do this review. We have had the greatest time tonight…from the sweet hostess, to our server Katie, who was fabulous! Amazing cocktails, spectacular food. Started with 6 Matheson oysters and a charcuterie, then the micro green salad, we then split the rib eye and whole fish, which was snapper tonight. Everything was fantastic! We finished with coffee and the pot de crème, to die for.

This restaurant serves up a fantastic culinary experience equipped with both unique flavors and fine experiences. TLDR: It’s difficult to say what you should order. The menu changes (oh so eloquently), but trust in your servers expertise. The cocktail menu and bar are on point. Check this place out for your next night out. $300 for fondue, 4 entrees, a bottle of wine, 3 drinks, 2 desserts, and 2 espresso. Appetizers: Plenty of seafood options but we went with the fondue. I very fun, and tasty cheese dish with excellent dipping options. Dipping the smoked prosciutto was my personal favorite. Entrees: The menu here changes to keep things fresh. The burger stays constant and I tried it. Super savory and topped with fondue cheese and crispy smoked meat. Others had the flounder, pork ravioli, and crab risotto. Personally the flounder with dill crème wine out for me. The chef here really knows what they are doing. Drinks: Fantastic wine list. Things you won’t see elsewhere are here. They either have an in house sommelier or consult with a unique wine supplier. Cocktails are perfectly mixed and served with cut ice. Dessert: We tried the crème brûlée with fresh peaches along with the honeydew sorbet. Fresh blacked peaches mixed with the crème was sooooo good. I asked they put a candle in my espresso (it was my birthday) and as a fantastic joke they gave me a tiny 1” cake with a candle. Hilarious! Atmosphere: Clean, fresh, and well appointed. You won’t be disappointed in this take on a lovely evening. Real candles provide ambience along with modern but comfortable seating. Staff: If I could put this staff in every restaurant I would never be unsatisfied with my experience. I hope they make a TED talk. Appetizers

Overall, the experience at Brenner Pass was stellar. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and they were wonderful at recommending dishes. The interior was gorgeous and modern (especially the bar) with earth tones, greys, and light wood. It's also very spacious inside so at no point do you feel cramped or uncomfortable. The cocktails we ordered were the Coy Mistress, Wasenhorn: From Ashes and Some Kind of Wonderful. The Some Kind of Wonderful cocktail was the star of the show for me because the clarified milk punch felt like drinking velvet and tasted almost like the best lemon bar you've ever had with a hint of dill. For dinner we had the focaccia, fried oysters, tartiflette, asparagus risotto and nettle agnolotti. Everything was pretty much mind blowing but I will say we were both slightly let down by the risotto. I think the flavor was supposed to be quite delicate and subtle, but the contrast against the other dishes which were jam packed with flavor made it seem a bit underwhelming but still very good! The tartiflette made me think of childhood, as well as the urge to go camping and do some cast iron cooking over a fire, basically it was the best cheesy potato gratin I've ever had. The fried oysters were perfection, especially the base of roasted onion aioli. We wanted to fit in some dessert but just didn't have any room left. I can't wait to visit Brenner Pass again and I look forward to their seasonal menu changes.

Wow. In town on a work trip and recommended by Delta Hotel staff. Baked oysters. Scallops. Duck. Maroon cocktail. All genuinely amazing. I ordered a weird 🥕 cocktail hoping it would be great. It was undrinkable but our waiter switched it out with no fuss. Truly great food and service.

Round two at Brenner Pass for my wife’s birthday with the in-laws, and it was a total win! The staff were friendly right from the start, making us feel at ease. The food? Amazing as ever! There’s something about the menu here that just hits the right note every time. We dug into our meals and each dish was a conversation pauser – yeah, it’s that good. What really sets Brenner Pass apart is the chill vibe coupled with attentive service. The staff were on point with recommendations and made sure our celebration rolled on smoothly. It’s the kind of place that’s got the formula for a good time down pat: great food plus great service in a great space. Brenner Pass, you’ve got yourself some fans. If you’re in RVA, swing by for a meal, you won’t be disappointed!
