Delicious food, helpful and friendly staff, and fair prices. It was a fixed price menu, $45 for app, entree, and dessert with good and reasonable portions. The food was so well prepared, delicious and refined without trying to be too fancy. The atmosphere is simple and cozy with lots of wood.
My dining partner, and I stopped in for an early dinner.
We had a delightful experience. All of the food was well prepared with interesting twists. In particular, the duck prosciutto with a fennel salad and clementine geleé was a revelation.
The two waitresses were excellent and kept the entire small restaurant moving nicely. We will absolutely return.
Aside from stopping in for drinks and dessert occasionally I had walked by this place a thousand times without trying it for dinner, partly bc it was a little pricey for me. But recently we had a wonderful prix fixe meal here with another couple. Delicious fresh takes on European dishes, a homey rustic atmosphere, creative cocktails, and attentive and intelligent service. We will add it to our “special evening out” rotation.
Came for dinner and got the prefix. It's a good deal for $45 but I wasn't a huge fan of my choices. I got the shaved duck salad to start and the rabbit entree (super tender just a lot of peas came with it and I'm not a huge fan of peas). The butterscotch custard for dessert was my favorite part. Tasted kind of like creme brulee custard which is my favorite dessert. My fiance got the steak entree which was delicious. Those fingerling potatoes were fantastic. He also really enjoyed his semifreddo dessert. The staff was really fun and friendly. Cute neighborhood spot.
Wonderful little gem with a French flair! Perfect for an intimate friend gathering or a date, though probably not a first date as the preset menu takes a couple of hours to go through! You select from an appetizer, main course, and dessert list! Cocktails are unique and so are the glasses that they come in! The cured tuna was a miss, but everything else was 5 stars! You would want to book a table!
Such an awesome place. I've been before when they had an octopus appetizer and it was the best thing ever. And I'm not a fan of octopus normally, so that was huge. This time around i got a seared duck and beef duo, husband got the blue cheese spread with salad and the scallops. It was all super delicious as expected, though the duck was a bit over done. The beef was so on point though! And the scallops were melt in your mouth delicious.
Belmont Food Shop is an undiscovered gem in Richmond. The food is great, the drinks and service are great, but as a historian what I like most is the 1920s feel. All wood, chalk board menu, leather bound wine menu, and 20 people only. Can't beat the atmosphere. I wish they had a website to see the weekly menu, or a better way to book a table, but that also adds to the old school feel. Love this place.
My friend Jody treated me to a spectacular fru fru dinner tonight at Belmont Food Shop. I haven't had a meal like this since I lived in Fairhope, AL. What a treat. I had an orange blossom drink before dinner, white wine with dinner then onto foie gras and pate for our 2 appetizers
Pork Duo (pork belly & tenderloins) with leeks, potatoes and butternut squash ravioli were the 2 entrees. Finished off with spiced pear & cake with a yogurt mousse and silk chocolate pie for dessert. Now I need to fast for a week lol
Awesome small restaurant with a prohibition era vibe. Great food and cocktails. One of our favorites.
The food here is some of the best, if not the best, I have had in Richmond. I am never disappointed. If you are looking for exquisite food. I highly recommend booking a table.
