Love this pub. I moved into the neighborhood about 8 months or so ago and have been seeing my best friends play music here occasionally and also picked up my own residency playing some originals. They host so many rad micro-events that it's hard to get out of the neighborhood now haha.
Portland best bar! I love the different range of music events, and the bar staff is always nice.
Called and conveniently spoke with the owner who helped make the impossible happen. Amazing and super friendly. Live music is incredible. I live in Florida... Never stepped 1 foot in here, yet, I know it's amazing based on the customer service. Go! Have fun!
Love this place. It’s a great local bar with good drinks, great music, and even Euchre! Now they’re even offering food Thursday through Sunday. Check out their Facebook pages for menus and nightly happenings. The bartenders are great. I especially love how supportive this bar is of the local community.
Sweet spot, live music, and a great logo. Endless graffiti in bathroom, can't get bored. Tall boys, drafts, and all the fixns plus happy gilmore on the tv
Starday is the star of SE ptown. Good vibes great staff local djs musicstuffs and cheap beer! Best bar in SE portland
A nice little bar right off the street. They had open mic night while we were there and had a great surround sound. Drinks were good and prices were fair. I looked like an idiot cause there is a order here sign you stand under. They have a few slot machines in the back if you want to play. Few booths then tall seating. Bathrooms were clean as well.
The place is owned by two very awesome people and the bartenders are just as rad.
The bar itself is small and cozy always clean. Not really a food-centric bar but they do have some amazing pop up menus sometimes from local food carts and such.
It's also DOG FRIENDLY which is rad!
There's tables out front but no patio and the patrons are usually super friendly. One of my favorite local haunts for sure.
What do I recommend about the Starday Tavern?
Romantic Atmosphere?
Its what you make it! Who knows if you’ll meet you future ex-husband or ex-wife? I’m sure there’s been many successful love affairs that started at the Starday…you could be one! I’d rather prowl the Starday than a candlelit Olive Garden.
Is there a buffet?
I like to say Barfay. And yes there is a Barfay; of atomic fireballs and mints at the bar. Important if you just found the above possible scenario of romance - you’ll need the mints. I also heard they now serve Hungry Man meals…Salisbury Steak? Turkey Dinner with peas and those mini onions?
A rooftop patio?
No, there’s no roof top patio but it’s unnecessary; all the action goes right down Foster and you don’t want to be on a rooftop and miss the excitement. Location! location! location! It also gives opportunity to corral passerby’s into conversation where you could find a new friend, meet neighbors or maybe that romantic mint encounter? Again, location.
Large Wine list?
This is SE PDX people. Boones Farm and Draft Cider is as close as you’re gonna get there. You want wine list go prowl Olive Garden.
Is this place good for children?
No 21 and up…but BINGO and ShaqTime can bring out that inner child in you. And with Hungry Man dinners available it’s all reminiscent of childhood.
Summary; if you’re a fun, good Earthling and you enjoy other fun, good Earthlings, then this is the bar to go to. Best and most respected attribute about The Starday is that on any day you will find Justin, the owner, behind the bar working his bar with pride, and the infamous Genghis, nearby, handling crowd control.
