Superb place for a family dinner or date night. Everything is perfectly seasoned and delicious, from the dolmas appetizers to the perfect dessert mix of peanut butter baklava and Turkish coffee - not to mention the luscious and flavor filled main courses. Just a wonderful warm and fresh option for any night of the week. I have to say that Nicholas Restaurant has the best shawarma on the entire West Coast! I keep forgetting to take out my phone and take photos of the beautiful food (focusing on being present during outings with my family), so the photos I have added are from the Nicholas Restaurant site. Every plate is delivered to your table wonderfully plated.

This is the best Middle Eastern food we've had in years. We are on vacation and visiting Portland and we wanted to find an authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. We came across this place on Google Maps and decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. The food was very delicious. We got the mezza appetizer, followed by a beef shawarma sandwich and a kofta platter. Then we ended with dessert that is rice pudding and kunafa. All of it is very delicious.

This hummus is smooth and velvety. Pita the size of a manhole cover that is so soft and warm. I wish I could curl up with this, a book and a good thunderstorm. This is comfort food elevated to the next level. Prices are amazingly affordable. Service was excellent.

I had a great time at Nicholas Restaurant, we tried arnabeet, baba ghanuosh, falafel with tahini and a chicken kabob plate. The arnabeet was amazing, and the jasmine rice was so flavorful. My husband enjoyed the chicken kabob plate. The mint lime lemonade was cool and refreshing. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere.

Nicholas Restaurant is absolutely fabulous. They are PACKED and from what some locals told me that is ALWAYS. I will start with the decor. Beautiful. And while the tables are close together it is suited here. Just make note that if you want a romantic setting this may not be where you'd want to pop the question. It is a little loud unless you're seated on the walls. Food!! Fantastic. Fresh and perfectly cooked. They start you off with a perfectly mixed Zaatar herb blend and some olive oil. Toss the herbs in and mix into the oil let is marry then dig the hot puffed bread they bring. Delicious. There is plenty of herbs and the mix is great also added to salad. I ordered the lamb kabob salad and I had food for 2 days. We started with the cauliflower and again HUGE portion. I joked it was the whole head of cauliflower and I doubt I'm wrong. My friend got the chicken and I tasted it and it was bold and flavorful the rice was delicious and I suggest you do not leave out the saffron rice. They have a full bar though we didn't have any cocktails I saw some gorgeous drinks being delivered to customers and wow just beautiful the presentation on those. I can recommend Nicholas Restaurant very highly. I've done over a thousand reviews of restaurants and this is in my top 5 of all time. When I get back this way again it will be on my to do list. The prices are low for the quality and quantity of food. I am in So Cal and the restaurants in the type of cuisine are double the price. I found that surprising in a good way. Fantastic and delicious!! Tell them Meek sent you. If this review helps you please give it a like.

Decent restaurant in the Gresham downtown. Their veggie Kabob plate is a MUST have. Being an indian brought up on spices, I was still blown away with the taste of the sauce. Just outstanding. Even the falafels were above average. Other items were good, nothing to write home about. Slightly on the pricier side. Their Zatar fries felt like normal 🍟, but still crisp and tasty.

Something to note right off the bat: the food here is five stars. Full stop. It’s awesome. Fresh, flavorful, and tasty as all get out. The kitchen is doing great work over at Nicholas. Service is where there was a little bit of an opportunity. Staff were super friendly and courteous— no complaints there, but the experience was a bit disjointed time wise. We were seated pretty quickly, but waited a solid 20 minutes before anyone came to greet us or bring water. After ordering drinks and food, the food was out in great time— only about ten minutes. The drinks took a bit longer to show up oddly, and when they did, the cocktails themselves were a bit hit or miss. Maybe they were short staffed, or it was just an off night. Who knows? That all said, the amazing food, location and friendliness were more than enough to get us to return, so we’ll absolutely give Nicholas Restaurant another shot in the future.
