I always love coming to Grand Central Bakery! The lunch items are absolutely top notch. I wish the sandwiches weren't slathered in mayonnaise, but other than that I have absolutely zero complaints about the food. The bread is super fresh and the molasses cookies are to die for. My husband says the plain black drip coffee is hearty but balanced.
I also love how clean the restrooms are here! This feels like a clean, comfy space for me and I'm always excited to visit.
Outstanding bakery! The Happy Goat sandwich is my favorite. The combination of goat cheese and chimichurri is so delicious!! I love how the veggies added to the sandwich are seasonal. This time it was carrots, but my favorite is the summer one where they add green asparagus. The sandwiches are a little expensive ($11.05 for the Happy Goat), but they are great quality and made on housemade bread, so it is worth it. The coffee is great as well, the staff friendly, and the space welcoming. It is very busy (even during the week!) but is so worth it.
Yum!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed grand central bakery! They had one of the best chai lattes i’ve ever had! They have an assortment of delicious pastries. Tried the cheese danish and biscuit egg breakfast sandwich. All were very tasty! They also have a nice amount of seating. Nice spot in Beaverton.
An awesome breakfast place and wonderful staff too! Make sure you keep a buffer on your tummies when you visit here on weekends. Popular also equals some minor queues. But rest assured, it moves quickly too!

Fresh ingredients - friendly staff
At local bakeries, I always ask "What's freshest?" (Or right out of the oven.. ) Today it was their traditional cinnamon rolls. Some places rely on icing or glaze to flavor their cinnamon roll- not here. The bread itself is perfectly baked today - a nice "crisp" on the outer crust & chewy rolled bread inside. The cinnamon flavor comes through nicely on each layer, accented with just a few raisins. The rolls are baked on a glaze & served with just the right amount of sticky sweetness on the bottom.
My decaf cappuccino has a nice head of foam & was worth the wait for careful, artistic preparation. 😀
Pecan pull apart was very tasty! The drinks were also good-we ordered a chai oatmilk latte and vanilla oatmilk latte. Nice environment with good outdoor seating and friendly bakery staff.
Really awesome pumpkin spice latte and chocolate mocha. The barista was super good. He really made our day in mid September.
Went back for the garden grinder. It tasted like spring - mashed peas and asparagus. The bread makes it delicious! This time I also tried the oatmilk chai. It is in the sweet side but fragrant and fill of flavor.
Got a beautiful sandwich with a pickle wrapped separately inside the sandwich paper, a coffee, and a loaf of sour rye bread. Everything was delicious and the setting and service was pleasant if busy. I will be back. I am writing because the vegan specialty sandwich was a great find and full of yummy stuff. However, one ingredient was especially bitter. I know the benefits of bitter greens and usually enjoy them. This one was pretty bitter. It appeared to be the stems from the raab? Just letting you know! Like I said, I will be back to try the next specialty vegan sandwich soon! Thanks.
How do they make their cheese danish SO GOOD?! There's something in the cream cheese filling that makes it unlike any other I've ever had before. I literally dream about this cheese danish. And by literally I mean figuratively. But seriously, it's really good and I think about it a lot. You should try it even if you're not a fan of cheese danish.
The day I was leaving Portland, I decided I wanted to get some bread and bakery treats to take back home. I looked online and saw the Grand Central Bakery was not too far away from my hotel and I decided to give them a try. I'm very happy I did! I bought a loaf of sour rye, which is excellent and has held up very well. Also a variety of baked treats and every one of them was a winner! I will definitely be repeating my visit to Grand Central on my next trip to Portland!
