Been wanting to try this place for a long time ever since I saw it on Man vs Food and it did not disappoint. Finally ended up in Pittsburgh today and went. I had the double meat pastrami with a side of the smallman street fries and it was amazing. Tasha was behind the bar, seeing her in action keeping up with the high demand and maintaining an outstanding level of customer service was impressive.
Primanti Bros. is a great place to grab a sandwich and experience a Pittsburgh culinary tradition that is loved by some natives and loathed by others. The Retro Tots are perfectly crispy and the sauce is a nice accompaniment. The beer is cold. The sandwiches are tasty. This particular location of Primanti Bros in Market Square is always lively given the busy area of downtown in which it is located.
A friend recommended that bar go here when visiting Pittsburgh. From the look of it online I didn’t think it was my kind of place. But when we found ourselves here at lunch time, we said “what the heck? It’s a local iconic place so at least we should give it a try.”
So glad we did! Besides the really loud guy at the bar with his nonstop chatter (hey, they can’t control that!! LoL) the atmosphere was just right. But that’s not what makes this place good. It was the sandwich…
Oh, the drunk duck drink was really good.
But anyway, the sandwich! Delicious! The meat was amazing. So tender and flavorful! And perfectly set up by the slaw and fries (?!) on the sandwich. Mouthwatering good! I would definitely recommend!
Amazing food. The bread is incredible. A must if you visit Pitt. Service was a little slow and the wait was close to an hour, but we were there during Picklesburg, so that was expected. Will definitely visit again!

I didn't know what to expect. We sat at the bar. You get the true Pittsburgh deli feel. Great sandwiches, fries are really good. They put fries on that sandwich so don't order them on the side. Big portions!
Outstanding location of iconic regional chain. Seating inside is a classic corner bar atmosphere, while outside is a lovely patio looking out over Market Square. Service was friendly and fast, and we were seated with no wait both at lunch on Memorial Day and at dinner on a Friday night at 5. Ordered fried mozzarella, steak salad, and capicola & cheese, kielbasa, and the Capone sandwiches with all the fixings. Everything was outstanding. Their fries are a particular highlight, and their vinegar-based coleslaw is one of the few I enjoy in large quantities.
Love Primanti's, staff was great and food was delicious after a long day. Pretty short wait for 2 people, larger groups waited longer. Sitting outside was fun to people watch but servers had to shoo-away plenty of birds and pigeons. Still love this spot and what they do 🥰
Great sports bar with awesome sandwiches. A classic feature of Pittsburg. Had a Yeungling beer. It can get very busy and the service was a little slow.
Primanti Brothers is an institution and a necessary stop when you are in Pittsburgh or anywhere a restaurant is available. Don't expect fine China or glassware, but the food and just knowing how many people have had the PB experience makes it worth a try.

October 4, 2014, I visited Primanti Bros. at Market Square in Pittsburgh and had the best sandwich ever!! Stacked high on Italian white bread loaded with meat, melted provolone, tomatoes, fresh-cut fries, and coleslaw.
