EXCELLENT Fried Whiting!. My first visit I tried the Fried Whiting Platter. What an amazingly tasty fried fish. Mac and cheese warm and tasty, cheesy but the candied yams (which I normally hate) were sweet and hot... I will definitely go back. One problem... the hours listed are not the same as those on the store signage... my bf went today and store closed up tight... does not open til 2pm (friday) I hope they correct it... I'd hate to travel so far to find them closed. Call before you leave home and place your order.. that way its hot when you arrive. Enjoy :)

What an awesome place!. My fabulous stylist, Rashada Siojo of Siojo Salon recommended Chef Ken's to me. She's a fishy vegan and couldn't stop raving about how none of their veggies are cooked with animal meat/fat, and how tasty the soulfood still was! So I finally treated my boyfriend to dinner there yesterday and we were more than pleased! Not only were the food and portion size magnificent, but the very charismatic Chef Ken himself came around and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. I mean I really felt like I was visiting an uncles house. He even wrapped up my plate for the road! The roasted chicken was succulent and well seasoned, and the beef ribs fell off the bone. Chef Ken definitely has two new repeat customers!
Food was great. You receive a lot for your money. If you are like me and not a big eater or are feeding a toddler you don't need to buy extra
I LUV Chef Ken. Chef Ken's is my new favorite place for casual eating. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is very laid back and the staff is amazing. I met Chef Ken once, and he remembered me after that. He gave me his entire family history and philosophy on food. He is a talented man with a real love of food and the community.
Now, the food speaks for itself. The platters might seem a little expensive, but you will be eating it for days. All of the food is cooked with olive oil instead of traditional animal fats. If it isn't a meat protein, it's vegetarian friendly. I recommend the sweet potatoes and mac and cheese as sides, and so far, the chicken has been my favorite entree.
I rarely brag about food, but the food here is so good that you cannot stop eating. You can make your own platter combinations, and the flavors make you want to come back and keep trying more. What's even better is that this well seasoned, and hefty platter is not greasy and heavy because everything is cooked in olive oil. Talk about delicious and addictive. Good atmosphere and good food- what more can you ask for?
I have been going to this place the entire 10+ years he has been on Germantown avenue. This food is ridiculously good!! I have never seen poor service here ever. Not sure where the previous poster gets bad services to the level indicated. Chef Ken is there all the time and is passionate about his food. He will talk to you about anything and everything under the sun if that's what you wanted!!
Was the best yams I have ever had away from my mother! Your will not be disappointed. I knew to order them from the time I walked in cause I could smell them omg smelled just like a pie!
The food was delish. I ordered the fish sandwich and the chicken platter with mac and cheese and the seafood salad. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The food is made to order and it was worth the wait.
Had the blackened tilapia, greens & mac n cheese. Everything was seasoned well and it was a reasonably sized portion for the price. Peach cobbler was too sugary & a lil runny, but everything else was good!
Soul food that will definitely fill you up... Love the ribs, but everything I've gotten has been very tasty. Usually get mac 'n cheese & collard greens for sides... everything's tasty!
This soul food was amazing i took my father here yesterday and he just love it and so did i amazing food great music that throw back music peaceful and the chief can cook it was all worth it. everything i wish i can see this rise. help this business you won't forget it.

The food was Awesome!! They go above and beyond, they did the repast for my Aunt (June 3, 2015) and it was very classy and personable. I will definitely return and spread the word, Chef Kens you did your thing!!!
