I recently visited Ocean City Restaurant in Chinatown, Philadelphia, for a dim sum experience. My overall impression leads me to a 4-star rating, partly to support this local business.
The restaurant itself boasts a spacious and clean environment, creating a comfortable dining atmosphere. A standout feature is the staff's friendliness and attentive service, which significantly enhanced my dining experience.
Regarding the food, the dim sum was decent, although I'd rate it around 3 to 3.5 stars in terms of flavor and variety. However, a pleasant surprise was the crab meat soup dumplings, which were exceptionally good and worth a special mention.
In summary, while the dim sum at Ocean City Restaurant may not be the best in town, the combination of a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and a few standout dishes like the crab meat soup dumplings make it a worthy option. My 4-star rating reflects my overall satisfaction and a nod to supporting local businesses in the community.
Great spot for dim sum and/or large parties! All of the food was fresh and tasty. My favorite was the shrimp stuffed peppers and anything wrapped in that pillowy, soft and sweet bao bun like bread.
Great food at a traditional dim sum place. They have the dishes on carts they push around. Carts were filled with a great variety and were constantly rotated. Servers were great on tea refills, slightly slower with water ones. Whenever I get dim sum on carts, I never know the names of what I ate, but everything tasted fantastic. One downside was that we had no idea of the prices until we finished and went up to pay, since they just circle on the receipt how many small, medium, and large dishes you ate. While we did eat a lot of food, I thought it was a tad expensive for dim sum. Would definitely come back!
Had the most amazing meal of duck, bean sprouts, noodles and oysters. The duck was done to perfectly with crispy skin. I would go back just for the oysters. Service was excellent. You will not be disappointed.
Wow! Haven't been here since my wedding reception! Glad to be back- food is delicious and service was EXCEPTIONAL! Highly recommend! We've had our wedding guests come back to eat after they tasted the food at our wedding. After all these years, they're still so good! Lots of new dishes added as well. We especially loved the service today, as it was a busy Sunday. Do yourself a favor and come eat here! There's a parking lot across the street too, which makes it easy since Chinatown parking can be hard (not a free lot though! But it wasn't ridiculously priced).
We found this restaurant by accident last year, and it never disappointed us with its food! I especially appreciated the manager being upfront about which dishes they were especially proud of and which were included more to attract customers looking for them. Will definitely come back next time we are in Philly.
I ate here in February 2023 for lunch. We were served dim sum which included many different carts with tons of options. Personally, the dumpling cart was our favorite, however, I think we unfortunately picked too many fried options from the first cart we saw; lesson learned, be sure to wait to see all your options before choosing! The food was good and very reasonably priced. The service was great.
Had my son’s 18th Birthday party dinner here for about 75 people and the food and service were superb! The staff were friendly and they were accommodating making it fun and memorable for each individual who attended the party. My son’s and his friends are still raving about it! Can’t wait for the next event.
Great dim-sum place and their service is better. Foods are delicious
