I was so happy to find this place when we lived in Philly. Being Australian, I was used to Indonesian food being easily available, so imagine my happiness at having a great Indonesian place so close by. My family and I have been back in Australia for over four years now, but I still think very fondly of this place.

The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nice little corner restaurant if you want a break and a nice, filling, affordable meal. Highly recommend.

Very small place, lending to a homely and familial atmosphere. Sensational food that is clearly made with love. Service was great, very simple and to the point with explanations for the uninitiated and tons of options. Ask for extra sambal with anything and everything. It's that good.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that transports you straight to the heart of Indonesia with its authentic flavors and warm ambiance. From the moment you step in, the aromas and friendly smiles set the stage for a memorable culinary adventure. The attentive staff provided excellent recommendations and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. A definite must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Indonesia in a cozy, inviting setting.

Excellent food and experience! We’d never been before. She was so friendly and helpful, made us 4 plates for 4 people with servings of each entree, side, and rice, plus sauces and we shared them all! You really can’t go wrong with what you order, flavorful and big helpings. Will be back again!

Hardena catered our wedding in June! My family is Indonesian and my husband is American. The food was sublime as always and enjoyed by both sides of this very mixed group! The most noteworthy thing apart from the food was the service. Maylia was available through call/text/email through the most hectic weeks of the wedding. Since my husband and I planned our wedding ourselves (with lots of help from family), this kind of service went a long way with preserving my sanity. The pricing was extremely transparent. I wish we had gotten better photos of all of our food, but we ordered the beef rendang, ikan acar kuning, mie goreng, bakwan, and of course, gado gado as our salad/vegetable. 150 guests left our wedding extremely satisfied, including guests with gluten intolerances and guests keeping kosher, vegans, vegetarians, and several small children. There was something for everyone. I have zero bad things to say and most highly recommend supporting this treasured business.

Don’t miss out on this spot! It’s tiny on the inside but the food is packed with flavor. Also, the reviews about the price being high - we paid about $22 a person. But it’s SO worth it. The quality of the food is so good plus we both had plenty of leftovers. The potatoes and beef were definitely my favorites!

I dined at Hardena in December of 2022. There is ample street parking, just be sure to bring Park Mobile or quarters. It was one of my first experiences eating Indonesian food, and I genuinely enjoyed it! The collard greens and beef were a major highlight, however, my favorite bite was the fritter!! The interior is small, so there is limited sitting, however, it was cozy and fun! For the price, the meal is well-worth it, with large portions (including rice!). I highly recommend trying some of their drinks too (especially the teas)!! Overall, a great Philly meal!

The food here was so delicious! The coconut milk fish curry is complimented really really with rice as its base. The eggplant was very flavourful and light. The corn and veggie fritters reminded me of onion pakoras I used to get home! This restaurant is definitely a must-go. You can order takeout or eat at the restaurant, but please know that they have limited seating. I'll bring my friends here soon!

Worth the wait! The good: The food!!!! Delicious authentic food. Absolutely delicious. Over ate because i wanted to try everything-and wow was it all delicious. Cute inside. The bad-they open when they want. Their hours posted (Google and website) state a specific time-but I stood outside in the cold 15 min before calling. They stated “we usually open 10-20 min late” This isn’t very good business practice. The inside, while cute, does seem a little dirty. Staff-only two young ladies-not the most friendly and not very helpful. But the food-dang was it delicious-the food takes over the bad-and keeps the restaurant with 5 stars.

After reading the reviews I can see both sides… The food is definitely good. I probably need to try more Indonesian food to compare but overall the chicken and beef I got was flavorful and the portion was decent. I also see the other side of people saying the food is overpriced… it definitely is. I’ve gotten this amount of food in the hole in the wall bodegas and corner stores… I tried to call ahead but they don’t do that, and it just seemed like the lady was moving in slow motion… lol. I might bring my vegan/vegetarian friends here because they do have a lot of those options. I may go back but I give it 4 stars. Probably closer to 3.5/5.
