Driving over from downtown along the river was beautiful and we were not familiar with Philly so gave us a chance to explore. There was a small parking lot, and we got there early but also street parking available. This is as exactly what we wanted. Amazing good, (get the onion rings)full bar and the desserts to go did not disappoint. The staff were fun and the bathroom signs even funnier! Definitely check em out when in Philly!
The cheesesteaks were great! It felt like a classic American diner. Nothing fancy but also nothing too bad.
They have parking. I think about 5 or 6 cars can park there. Their beer on tap selection is kinda limited but that's okay imo. It's not a beer place. You have an option to sit at the bar or in a booth / proper table.
I was so impressed of the owner or manager. He helped me a lot because he tried to help my close friend wore a scooter wheelchair and my eight Deaf friends sat together. I wasn’t realized too small inside place but worth it. My two friends visited from Washington DC and liked these cheesesteak!! More steaks than other restaurants!!!
Chubby’s is Legit!! The steaks hit. The service was quick and accurate. Just make sure you say your name loud and have it read back because it gets loud with the crowd! Check them out.
Admittedly, I'm not a big cheesesteak guy, but I was told to go here for a proper philly cheesesteak as so many other hotspots are referred to by the locals as tourist traps.
Well, if you ask me, this is the place to go for a good cheesesteak. Had my first proper one here, and it sets the bar so high. Gonna be hard to beat it. Also holds well enough to reheat for later if you can't eat it all in one go.
As I was arriving at the restaurant I contemplated going to "the other place" across the street (if you know..you know lol) but I decided to try something different, and Chubby's did not disappoint. I pulled into the parking lot (with ample space), walked through the front door, and was greeted by a friendly waitress who immediately took my order (Cheesesteak w/fried onions and Cooper sharp cheese, fries, and sweet Thai chili wings). I was going to get honey BBQ, but she said her personal favorite was the sweet Thai, and she was on point. It felt like my food was ready immediately, but I probably waited about 10 minutes or less. After a 20-minute ride home, my food was still hot and absolutely delicious!!!! I would definitely choose Chubby's over "the other place across the street." If you're looking for a good cheesesteak and wings, Chubby's is the way to go.
If you want to skip the like and grab a place to sit inside, it’s not a bad alternative to Dalessandro's across the street. They do have a small parking lot, but honestly street parking by the park across the street is rarely an issue. I don’t know if they use the same roll as across the street, but we actually agreed the roll was better here. Could be in our head? Also we went on two separate days. Unless you are doing a food show, enjoy a good cheesesteak and no need to compare. Try both on the same day, but you want to split it because they are big. This is a high quality one and you won’t be disappointed.
We drove up for a cheesesteak and we were not disappointed. Delicious food, full bar and plenty of cheese whiz for everything.
Traveled from Florida and hit this spot on the way to airport . Family of 6 had the best philly ever. Ice cold yuengling!! Great, friendly service. Got the T-shirts.
Moved to Boston a year ago and they don't make cheesesteaks there. They call them "steak and cheese" sandwhiches or something -- amateur hour... Amateur hour. Anyways, I'm driving back from Wildwood today and was like -- hmm, it's been in a minute since I been to Chubby's so we decided to take a detour thru Philly on way home... Let's gooooo! Ya'll made me so happy. Thank you! This place always has a special place in my heart and I know the cheesesteaks are the main attraction... but don't sleep on the curly fries or side of pickles.
