Yo, This place is absolutely amazing... The biggest damn slice this side of the East Coast... I mean, There slices are deliciously huge. I mean, C'mon the gooey cheese all over the top is phenomenal and the crust is outstanding. This place literally delivers a slice of heaven... Lorenzo's got my vote as the best damn pizza so far (Not just on South Street), But in all of Philadelphia, Period... Until anywhere else proves me otherwise.
No matter how busy they are, Lorenzo & Sons staff always keeps things flowing and in perfect unison. The staff represents the basis of good customer service experiences. The pizza is delicious and a staple of South Street.
Oh what a lovely pizza. Although it's just cheese pizza without any toppings, it just tastes so tangy and juicy. Love it!! Others might have already mentioned about the slice size. Irrespective of the slice size, I'd advocate how tasty the pizza is. !!

My Philly trip begins and ends with Lorenzo!
It honestly doesn’t need a review, the que to grab a slice, speaks for itself! Only problem is cash only! Rest, its the best and talk of the town!

Pizza slices the size of your head! I'm a very big guy, but two of these slices are a perfect meal. Nothing is better following a big night of drinking in Philly. Can get toppings on whole pies, but they are enormous. I used to order them to cater staff lunches.
One big ass slice. That's all you need! No toppings, no garlic sauce necessary. Friday and Saturday nights you can expect to wait in line, especially in the summer but the slice is totally worth it.
Lorenzo's pizza is the bomb.com!!!!!! Whenever I'm looking for a real slice of pizza (none of that "Philly Style" pizza) this is my go-to! I'm from NY so I really appreciate their use of making NY style pizza and boy is it good! High five Lorenzo's because they never fail me!
This place has the largest pizza slices I've ever had. I thought they tasted great and the service was friendly (unlike some other South Street establishments...) No toppings except on Tuesday and cash only. But really, give this place a try next time you're on South Street.
OK, so the pizza isn't the best--but who's looking for 5 star quality when they're drunk and hungry and nothing else is open at 2am? Lorenzo's serves up huge slices and there's always a line out the door (and down the street) on weekends. Cash only, which is super annoying.
Biggest slice of PIZZA ever!. Speaking of good and plenty....this term should be used to describe the slice of cheesy goodness that i got from these guys....you can't beat it. #scrumDiddleyUmcious #pizzaByThePound
I love this place. Nicely remodeled after the fire.
Great pizza. Grab and go. Not the best but by far not the worst either. HUGE slices...can't beat the price! Lots of gooey cheese and sweet sauce. Greasy, which is how pizza should be. I can't go to South Street without stopping in. My fiancée and I each grab a slice and a soda, put our seasonings on it and eat it at the corner. If you want it cooked a little bit more, just ask. I've seen reviews of people complaining about the service and not being able to get toppings - ever see how busy it is in there? What kind of service do you want? It's a pizza slice store - go in, get in line, order your slice and they give it to you. Are you expecting 5 star service from a slice store? I've never had a problem with the service, the employees have always been friendly every time I've ever been there! Now I feel like hopping on the subway just to go get a slice!
Excellent pizza! So far , this is the best pizza I've had in Philly. Dave portnoy should have given them a much higher score.
Got the xl pizza to go. I coildnt believe how every single bite of every slice was consistently perfect. Each bite had the perfect amount of cheese and sauce all the way to the crust, plus the pizza was actually cooked to perfection, bravo! 🤌🤌🤌 10 out of 10 stars here!!!
To top it off, from the time we parked to the time we left with pizza in hand was only about 20 minutes on a Saturday!! Excellent!!!
This is my new pizza spot in Philly!
Here's a Philly favorite that has stood the test of time. Lorenzo and Sons has been around as long as I can remember. After a hard night of partying at the local South Street bars this is a go to. Their claim to fame in Philly is their 42" diameter pizza. Buying one will win your several standard size pizza boxes because no one makes a 42" box. More likely is you'll but a slice. The slices are mammoth. Since the pizza pie is 42" the slices are about 21". That's a lot of pizza in one slice! At $6.00 a slice it a bargain. The pizza is just not huge it is also delicious with a thin crispy crust and just the right amount of cheese and sauce. What says Philly nights better than that?
My son told me about this place on South Street where you could get a huge slice of pizza for $6.
The big thing to remember about this place is that they only take cash. It's very important that you remember this if you feel iffy about using strange ATM machines. They have an ATM machine on the premises but it's one of those strange ones.
If you're ordering slices, they only have cheese. A whole pizza will cost you $42, but it's a 28-in pizza. Toppens are extra.
Okay so now to the pizza. The pizza is excellent. If you like a slightly sweet gravy, you will really enjoy this. I bought four slices paid $26 because we got boxes as well. I included a picture of the slice I got. It's the biggest slice I've ever had in my life. For me, it was a two meal slice. I've never not been able to finish a slice of pizza. It's even better when you heat it up in the air fryer.
If you're looking for a cheap meal on a Wednesday night, and you're just bumming around South Street. This place is cool. 5 out of five.
HUGE pizza and delicious! You can order 1/2, 1/4 or slices of a whole pie. Or just get the whole thing like we did. 1 slice did me in! Yum
Love this place ❤️
Every time I visit I have to get a slice. Really one slice is two, they that big. 😋
Biggest pizza I was thinking I ate it it was delicious and delicious scrumptious munchkin and then I have a good night with my bike with me pizza I buy
$6 for a slice of only cheese which kinda sucked cause I'm a 🍕 girl but it was def worth it. The slice is huge and they stay open till 3 am super perfect for late night drunkenness if you can make it to 3rd and South! There was a line but the shop is little and they move fast so don't worry if you do see a long line!
10 / 10 would do again.
Lorenzo's Pizza sports a casual, no-frills atmosphere, perfect for a quick bite or a late-night pizza pilgrimage. The décor is unassuming, but the intoxicating scent of freshly baked pizza wafts through the air, setting the stage for a memorable culinary experience. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, this may not be your spot. However, if you're after an authentic Philly slice, you're in the right place.
FAST SERVICE
Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly staff who were quick to take my order. The efficiency of the service was commendable. The employees, while busy, remained courteous and efficient. Lorenzo's takes pride in serving its patrons with a smile, which enhances the overall experience.
PIZZA TASTES AMAZING
The star of the show here is, of course, the pizza. Lorenzo's offers enormous, mouthwatering slices that are generously topped with a perfect blend of cheese and sauce. The sheer size of their slices is enough to impress, but it's the incredible flavor that truly shines. The crust is crisp on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. The tomato sauce has a tangy kick, and the cheese is perfectly melted, creating a harmonious marriage of flavors. The sheer size of each slice is an adventure in itself, making it the ideal spot for those who appreciate a hearty, no-nonsense meal.
GIANT SIZED SLICES TO GO
What truly sets Lorenzo's apart is the size of their slices. Each slice is a true testament to the "go big or go home" mantra, making it ideal for sharing or taking home leftovers. These massive slices are not only a treat for your taste buds but also a conversation starter - the sheer size of your slice is guaranteed to turn heads.
REASONABLE PRICES
Lorenzo's is known for serving gigantic slices, but this can lead to a slightly higher price tag than your average pizza joint. However, the portion size more than justifies the cost. It's well worth the occasional splurge, especially considering the quality and taste of their pizza.
WHAT LUCK TO LIVE CLOSE TO IT
In conclusion, Lorenzo's Pizza on South Street in Philadelphia offers a slice of pizza heaven like no other. Their massive slices, friendly service, and unbeatable flavors make it a must-visit for any pizza lover. While it may lack the upscale ambiance of fine dining, Lorenzo's delivers where it matters most: the taste. I highly recommend a visit to Lorenzo's, just be prepared to be amazed by the sheer size and flavor of their slices. It's a slice of Philly's culinary heritage that you won't soon forget.
Pizza by the slice is nice! I dunno if I would spend $39 for a HUGE jumbo Pizza Pie. But the slices were HUGE & me and my girl enjoyed it a lot.
Really a fantastic place! I kind of like that it's one thing and they do it really well. Absolutely huge slices, tasty, but almost too big! Sometimes that wad of cheese in your mouth doesn't really want to go anywhere. Still, I'd do it again. Cash only and prices have gone up - think around $6/slice. And cheese only for single slices. There are also drinks but no seating.
