The best diner I've been to so far 🙂
Waitress was amazing and the food was out of this world 😄Our daughter who's three loved it and especially the Elmo cupcake 🙂 Can't wait to go back again 😍
Plenty of parking too.
Penrose diner a great place to eat. The food is good and always fixed the way you like it. I love their salads and soups.
Diners are typically a dime a dozen, and in order for one to truly stand out, it needs exceptional service, a great atmosphere, and solid food options that come out better than expected. Penrose Diner hit the nail on the head with our recent visit.
After running a 5k to fight childhood cancer, my colleagues and I were feeling quite hungry and Penrose Diner was just a stone's throw away.
When we arrived, I was a little concerned with the small parking lot, but I was glad we didn't have to park on the street in such a busy park of South Philly. As we entered, we were immediately greeted by a hostess and taking to our seats. This place has a great number of dine-in setting which completely eliminated the need for a wait. As we walked to our seats, I was very pleased with how clean and spacious the diner was.
Our waitress came by almost immediately to take our drink orders and provide us with some time to review the brunch and breakfast menus. It was refreshing to see that the menu wasn't overwhelming with choices but also had great selections for us to choose from.
Two of the orders came from the brunch menu, 1. biscuits and gravy and 2. Breakfast skillet, and the other two orders were from the breakfast menu, eggs Benedict. Highly recommend all options, especially the breakfast skillet.
The portion sizes were amazing and the food was cooked to our liking. The waitress was very accommodating with the substitutions we had requested and ensured that all our orders came at the same time.
The staff were very attentive and checked in on us periodically. When we finished our meals, we decided to stay a little longer to chat. Our waitress was not bothered by this and allowed us to stay for an hour after our meals were done.
I really appreciate how wonderful the staff was and how delicious the food was as well. Will definitely be going back very soon.
An enjoyable dinner at the diner. An extensive menu with daily specials. The tuna melt, waffle and cheese steak were tasty and exactly what we expected. The place was packed on a Tuesday night. The staff were friendly and efficient. A reliable establishment!!!
I had a great breakfast special for holiday!
I love that their pancakes not very sweet, I can choose if I want it sweet or not! The service was good, everyone was so friendly.
Had time to kill before heading airport, so on recommendation, we tried the Penrose. It was very busy [good sign!] The service and food was exceptional!! We would highly recommend Penrose and will be back the next time we are in Philly!
I went to visit the Philadelphia area and decided to come here for dinner. The food and service was good.
The first order was meatloaf, stuffing, green beans, and a salad. The second order was turkey, stuffing, mixed veggies, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and salad.

WOW! What an AWESOME place for breakfast! We were looking for a yummy spot after landing in Philadelphia, and this place jumped out at me- we are SO GLAD we went! The breakfast is delicious and well priced.
took my friends from texas here to give them a real diner experience, and i firmly believe this diner is everything a diner should be. there's plentiful parking outside. the atmosphere is clean, bright and inviting. the food is cheap, freshly made, and delicious. they have endless options - if you ask, they 100% have it - and very creative options in fall spirit. the waitresses are friendly, personable and attentive. will definitely be returning here whenever i'm in philly.
Went to Philly for a show. Stayed across the street from the diner. Grew up in Jersey love a good diner. Not much where I live now in ocmd. Was a real treat. Great food breakfast all day. Will go back again when I m back in Philadelphia.
We were so happy to find good breakfast in Philly. The service was 10/10. Anna Marie was our waitress' name. She checked on us regularly and got our food order in quick. The food came out freakishly fast and fresh!
The pancakes?? *chef's kiss!* Ah... so good.
Consistently excellent food. They have shortened their menu, so that was a bummer, but when I asked the waitress about one of their previous classics - she asked the kitchen and they made it for me! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. We frequent this diner before Flyers games.
