Prime Rib and/or Barrel Cut Sirloin. I have had both the Prime Rib (Medium Rare) and the Barrel Cut Sirloin (topped with Mushrooms and Swiss cheese) with cream of crab soup, salad, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Both were absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced and a pleasant fine dining atmosphere. Come as you are dining. I wish that I would have taken a snapshot of my dinners this past week and watched as everyone becomes envious of my experience. I am making myself hungry again just thinking about it. This restaurant comes strongly recommended for lunch and dinner specials. New Lunch specials are advertised on their facebook page all the time which I have definitely liked as a reminder of what I am missing when I am away.
Great Place. My buddy and I were visiting Oscoda and we were told that Tait's was a great place to be. We were seated very promptly, and were told the specials. I decided to go with the Prime Rib for $18.99. It came w/ soup, salad, bread, and a potato. The bread was served with honey butter and both were wonderful. I had the Millennium soup which was wonderful (almost like a chicken tortilla). The salad was average, but not bad. The prime rib was HUGE and cooked medium-rare, just like I had asked! It was fantastic and it became lunch for the next day. I was expecting a much smaller cut, and was very pleasantly surprised. The potato, I ordered, fully loaded mashed potatoes, were good, not amazing, but good. The owner later came to our table to inquire about our food and service. I had nothing, but positive things to say.
I had ZERO issues with service. Everything was timely and friendly. The food was amazing. Many entrees are about $20, but if they are anything like the prime rib, it is totally worth it. When I visit Oscoda again, I will be returning.
Good value. I was recently at Tait's and had a very good experience. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly, and our server was friendly and attentive. The meal was quite good and the price very reasonable. (It's nice to see something besides iceberg lettuce in a restaurant in this area!) Near the end of the meal a gentleman (the owner, perhaps?) came to the table to inquire on our experience. I would highly recommend a visit here...we would definitely return again.
Do not miss this one!. This is one of our absolute favorites. If my husband and I lived closer (we're in E Tawas), we'd be there every week. Ambiance is warm and inviting, casual but upscale too. Staff are wonderful - friendly, attentive and efficient. Food is the best this side of Michigan if you are looking for upscale. We don't have a lot of choices in this arena, so we are very thankful for Tait's!
Bill Tait is there every night to see that things go smoothly. He walks around the tables and chats with folks, and you know that someone who loves their restaurant this much, is taking good care of it.
One of the things my husband and I like best is the leisurely pace. The courses are well paced, so you aren't going to find your entrees being squeezed in front of you while you are still eating your appetizers. When we finished each course, the next was served. Perfect.
Another thing we like, is that you are served soup AND salad, it's not a choice between them. This is a special feature, and really adds to the experience, because you have at least those two courses before the entree is served. We think it keeps things flowing nicely, and gives the staff a good chance to help folks easily, because the soup keeps the customers busy and isn't hard to serve.
The 'Millenium' soup is their specialty, and is made with black beans and a Mexican white cheese melted in the middle. It has a rich flavor, and we enjoy it a lot.
Between the fresh bread, soup and salad, we are sometimes full before our entree is served, but we SOMEHOW manage to make good progress on that as well! We've had the steaks and prime rib, all delicious, as well as the skirt steak that is marinated and has a wonderfully intense flavor. I'm going for the lamb chops next time, they've been tempting me for awhile!
There are a lot of potato and rice side dishes to choose from, and they're all quite good. There was a delicious potato risoto that was similar to scalloped potatoes (no rice in it!), and simple steak fries that were perfectly cooked.
We just love this place. It feels like a cross between a french restaurant and a country inn. Can't wait to go back!
We had Chicken Especiale and Perch for take out. All 4 meals were outstanding! The chicken was cooked to perfection as was the perch. Let's not forget the Millennium soup. Yumm!! Excellent meal! Love this place.
The millennial soup is out of this world. Hidden gem in oscoda.
Absolutely delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. Server was was knowledgeable and helpful with explaining their wonderful made to order food dishes. The crab soup was fantastic! Will definitely come again and highly recommend.
A+++++ Excellent I had the ahi tuna and the remoulade sauce was out of this world my wife had the chicken alfredo top notch all the way highly recommend kudos to Bill you have the best food in town!!!!!!!
Great atmosphere and a welcoming staff make you feel appreciated for choosing their restaurant. The food we ordered was delicious. One of the food items we got was the hot, spicy chicken wings. They were exactly that and also had a nice crunch to them. If you like your wings hot and spicy, give those appetizers a go. You won’t be disappointed!
While only able to provide take-out, the food was great - especially for the price. Cheesy potato risotto was terrific. Well worth it.
Awesome food was wonderful. Kat was a great waitress.
WOW! Who would have thought such a fantastic eatery in the town of Oscoda. Food and service were top shelf. Makes me want to come back to town, just to eat here.
