Hunan L'rose

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and I will not be returning. I was not happy with my $30 worth of food. I have never had Shrimp Egg Foo Yong with gravy that looks more like grease juice instead of a thick gravy that actually covers the dish. I was also disappointed because the white rice that it comes with, the container wasn’t even filled to the top like all the other restaurants I’ve gone to. I actually thought that was weird. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Hot and sour soup has pieces of pork fat in it, gave a good flavor but not vegetarian friendly. I would probably order it again. I ordered shrimp and scallop with green beans in Szechuan sauce, was not very spicy sauce was just okay, only three shrimp and three scallops on the small side. I struggled with reviews and the menu to try to find something rich and flavorful, probably will not be going back here.

We've been living in Odenton for over 20 years and Hunan Rose used to be most preferred Chinese restaurant. I love the freshness of their food. They also have very good customer service. They even know me by my name. The restaurant can be so accommodating. I've always had very good experience with them, both dine-in and carryout. Recently, I ordered Hunan chicken, General Tso chicken, Chicken noodles and Combination fried rice; the quality of the food have been compromised. The sauce was quite watery and no taste. The chicken fried rice and noodles were not as moist as before and we didn't enjoy eating it. We wasted most of the food we ordered.

Ordered the vegetarian birds nest. They just gave me the noodle nest with nothing in it and when I pointed it out I was yelled at that it was what I ordered. I pointed to what I wanted on the menu. Any other time I received the dish as it was supposed to be made. What is going on? This is a restaurant in a shopping enter in Odenton. Inexpensive, but that doesn't mean they should get the order wrong. This is not fine dining. Drop the attitude.

Nope. Nope. Nope. We’ve been coming here for decades, at least once a year. Tonight will be our last visit. 4PM and restaurant was wide open, yet service was abysmal. Long gaps with no sign of drinks or the server. Entrees for our table of seven were served two at a time, with the last entree coming out 15+ minutes after the first. It was so odd, yet no acknowledgment or explanation. Food was subpar and definitely lesser quality and different preparation than in the past. Sweet and Sour chicken was very dry and over cooked, nearly inedible. Chicken and Broccoli was tasteless with thin, runny brown sauce. The entire place felt grimy and in disrepair. Even though it’s aged…it wasn’t dirty in the past. Tonight, tables were unkept, plates were chipped, glasses were dirty, upholstery ripped, fish tank filthy. Even Valentine’s day decor was up two months later. So much junk in the hallway to the restroom that it looked like a storage unit. Shop vac, and mixer parts next the plate warmer, and empty to go containers.
