Laid back, relaxed atmosphere. We dined on the outdoors patio--nice, secluded location. Outstanding selection of Belgian brews and ciders, plus a nice wine selection. Chose the three-cheese appetizer tray--delicious, the jumbo shrimp over grits (awesome) and wife had the chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus--outstanding. Creme brulee and Belgian waffle for dessert paired with coffee--nice finish to the meal. For those who desire to dine quickly--you will be disappointed. We're not that type and we both really enjoyed the relaxed pace. All told, it's not inexpensive but is certainly worth the $$. A great dining choice and we will return!
The alpine mussels were fantastic and the fries are crispy and perfect and They have an extensive beer list. The service was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and come back.
If you like mussels, this is a great place to go! They have a huge variety of mussel pots, and it's even better if you go with other people and try the different flavors of mussels that they have. They give you great portions, and the broth at the end is delicious enough to drink right out of the pot (though they do offer bread for dipping). The Merguez (harissa and lamb) was flavorful, but was surprisingly not as spicy as I thought it was going to be. The Brew-ha-ha was probably the best of all three that we ordered. The smoked salmon appetizer was very good too, and was a perfect starter to our seafood dinner. Next time I want to try the steak because it looked delicious when other people ordered it. They have a great variety of Belgian beers, including sour and funky beers if that's your thing. The staff was very nice and accommodating. My only wish is that it was a bigger restaurant, because at peak time all the tables were full and it was very crowded and loud in there. However, I understand that it's in Occoquan which is small itself, so space can be hard to come by. Recommend making reservations so that you ensure a seat in the restaurant.
If you are looking for special beer selections, you will love this restaurant alot.
But not much of wine selections.
Mussels are very good.
Kind staffs.
Adorable small house turned into a restaurant. Call ahead when you are on your way to get ahead on the list. It can get very popular some evenings and the wait can be long. Highly recommend the mussels, French onion soup, and the waffles. The last hour of the night is waffle hour, where they only serve waffles so keep that in mind when you plan your trip. Enjoy!
Love this place. Quaint Belgian bistro in old town occoquan. It's a quiet atmosphere with a lot of outdoor seating.
Highlights from previous trips include the waffles, chicken, steak fries, and especially the mussels.
Service is usually quick and friendly. The team seem to always know how to pair your meal with the best beer, which they have a wide variety of.
In terms of pricing it's a little on the higher side but well worth what you end up getting here for food, atmosphere, service, and drinks. Looking forward to coming back here in future !
A quiet refuge; wonderful food and atmosphere; transports you away from the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia to a quiet Belgian countryside restaurant. Not to be missed.
Absolutely amazing! Chef Warren was on point with every dish! Everything came out fresh HOT and ready. The waffles are to die for! And the family atmosphere and environment will have you coming back for more and more! I highly recommend the hot WINE! Mr. Albert is an angel sent from heaven he welcomed our family with open arms and a huge smile! Stop by and enjoy the patio scene.
Nice place tucked into a protected area of Occoquan. It has a great seating area outside with shade. Food was good and different. I had muscles with sausage and potato, served in a pot with fries on the side. Good selection of Belgian beers on the menu but they seemed to be out of several. Wish they had some on tap instead of just can/bottle. I will visit again.
Excellent late lunch here after a couple hours exploring the town. We had mussels with fries. Our mussels were in a garlic cream sauce with brandy and mushrooms. Perfectly cooked and delicious. The fries were also excellent. So good we got a second order! And the mayo with the fries was phenomenal.
Visited around 5:30pm with a party of 3 for dinner. We were quickly seated outside on the patio area - I should note that if you're easily bothered by bugs and the like be aware they are a presence when the weather is nicer.
**(EDIT SINCE OWNER RESPONDED: The bugs didn't bother me at all as it comes with the territory of having outdoor seating, but for those who are more squeamish it can be an nuisance. IMO spraying is not necessary :] )
We ordered the Brie and Prosciutto toast as an appetizer: good choice! As an entree I ordered the steak frites (medium rare - sorry no cross section), from the picture you can see the steak came out on a large bed of fries so come hungry! The garlic butter was delightful, but unfortunately my steak came with a hefty amount of fat that I didn't want to deal with so I cut it off, otherwise I think I would've pushed for that last star.
Definitely want to come back and try their waffles, though...
If you are in Occoquan, you must eat at this quaint Belgian bistro! Delightful place...the French onion soup and the salads were wonderful. The mussels bowl was perfectly done and outstanding. The service was attentive and efficient -- a special shout out to Heather -- our excellent waitresse! :-)
The outdoor patio was a wonderful dining experience!!!
