Specialty’s was one of the first luncheon establishments I began going to when I began working in Oakland’s “Uptown” district nearly a decade ago. When I need a strong and flavorful cup of coffee I must come here for the Peet’s coffee and I usually pair that with one of the many yummy goodies that are on display in the glass cabinet — sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, croissants and so much more! I’ve often returned for lunch for the hearty sandwiches, salads or soups. To bypass the line I usually visit the website or the phone app to order ahead and then walk in and pick up. There is also a delivery service option. Sometimes when I’ve needed a little pick-me-up late in the day I’ve walked to Specialty’s for a “cookie break” — my favs are oatmeal raisin and peanut butter. There are also some healthy snacks there like fresh fruits and veggies to graze on as well.

Great place for your desired sugar rush. They serve Peet's coffee to boot!

I love Specialty's. I've gone to many of them. This one is terrible. I ordered on the in-store kiosk, and after 20+ minutes I went to check on my order. I was told that priority orders pushed mine back, that they do a lot of catering, and that I should arrange my lunch times to suit their busy schedule. I had to marvel at how many ways they could tell a customer that they're not important. While I was waiting at the counter for them to make my sandwich, another fellow was screaming at them to refund his money and forget his sandwich, as they had already wasted too much of his time. So it wasn't just me.

Nice spot to grab coffee and/or lunch. Everything is made fresh daily. Lines can get long... ordering ahead helps. Like others have said.. they could use a better coffee bar system. In the morning they should have at least 2 dedicated employees manning the coffee bar to help customers get their caffeine fix to start the day.

Fresh items with great quality! Friendly staff that get you on the way when you're in a rush. Cookies are so good and oozy. I love their variety of salads and sandwiches. The only sad part is they close at 5 on the dot.

This is the one in Walnut Creek at the Treat Towers - it’s closing after 33 years, mainly because of COVID-19.
If they had been open on weekend there are lots of locals who would’ve bought Peets Coffee (including me!)!

A small vanilla latte with 6 pumps vanilla has been my order, since the facility opened. Today I ordered & was told my order was $6.40. That price is ludicrous! I don’t pay this at the competitor - St..Bu...When I explained the difference in price, the cashier said “Nope this is the price. There’s no one else to check with.” A guy was acting manager and echoed her gesture. Of course I walked away. They lost me as loyal patron & I will encourage my friends to do this he same. I’m done!
