l have had a good share of Ethiopian food over the years and even the very sweet hostess said there’s really no difference between Eritrean and Ethiopian food, but theirs was better than virtually any other place! Went with the house sampler. Fresher spices, more unique flavors, and a packed dining room within an hour of opening! The salad was super crisp and fresh, too!

Close to my mother’s kitchen. Zimam (the owner) is one of the most influential people I have come to know, love, and respect. Dear to my heart. The restaurant is the a landmark of Oakland, and I will say the most authentic cuisine on the strip of Telegraph Ave. (sorry, it’s the truth). Quality is exceptional. Food is first class. Fresh, flavorful, abundant. Service is super. The ambience is well curated to represent our rich heritage. Yes, I’m Eritrean. My mother is the best cook. Thus, my pallet is extremely picky and snobby. This is to my habesha brethren and foreign audience, alike. It’s a definite hell yes for me. Don’t even bother deciding what to order based on the price listings on the menu. Just go for it. You will not get disappointed. P.S. They do catering. For any event and capacity.
