l have had a good share of Ethiopian food over the years and even the very sweet hostess said there’s really no difference between Eritrean and Ethiopian food, but theirs was better than virtually any other place! Went with the house sampler. Fresher spices, more unique flavors, and a packed dining room within an hour of opening! The salad was super crisp and fresh, too!

The proportion of food to injera is perfect. I always order the combos (house combo or veggie). Very delicious. Price went up on many items - do not let that deter you. It’s worth every dollar.

Amazing Eritrean restaurant. Always a great meal, love vegetarian dish paired with either the chicken or lamb. Been coming here for over 10 years.

Their food is delicious and their customer service is great. I came several times to have their favorite dish ( zilzel).

Food is really good and plates are large. This is definitely more of a call for pickup then a sit down place. Service here will have you waiting for awhile for everything. Favorite things are the moi moi ( like an African tamale), dodo (fried plantains), meat pies and the rice.

Close to my mother’s kitchen. Zimam (the owner) is one of the most influential people I have come to know, love, and respect. Dear to my heart. The restaurant is the a landmark of Oakland, and I will say the most authentic cuisine on the strip of Telegraph Ave. (sorry, it’s the truth). Quality is exceptional. Food is first class. Fresh, flavorful, abundant. Service is super. The ambience is well curated to represent our rich heritage. Yes, I’m Eritrean. My mother is the best cook. Thus, my pallet is extremely picky and snobby. This is to my habesha brethren and foreign audience, alike. It’s a definite hell yes for me. Don’t even bother deciding what to order based on the price listings on the menu. Just go for it. You will not get disappointed. P.S. They do catering. For any event and capacity. It’s a job well done through and through. ❤️

Really excellent veggie combo with lots of variety and unusually tasty sauces. Injera had great flavor and consistency. Very friendly and helpful staff.
