Icey Cream

I would not return to this location again. Came on 4/16 around 5pm PT and was helped by a mid-aged gentleman (around 40's). I had two samples, one of them being their cookie monster flavor. I didn't enjoy the ice cream (just wasn't my flavor), but didn't say anything, and just simply placed my order - two cookies and 1 scoop of vanilla. I asked for it to be an ice cream sandwich, but apart. He gave me my scoop and my ice cream. My friend also ordered a scoop and got chocolate syrup. The employee did point out "seems like you didn't like that flavor" which I laughed and said "sorry, it wasn't my flavor" (In a very nice way) and he said "no worries, not everyone will like everything," but he 100% took it personal. Why the 1 star review? Really it came down to the fact that the employee over charged me and tried to make me feel dumb. He charged me for two scoops, chocolate syrup, and a cookie ice cream sandwich (4.99) when cookies are only $1 on their own. I pointed this out and he said something along the lines of "I gave you a bigger scoop" and offered to "only charge me for the ice cream sandwich" but with the tone of "you're the one in the wrong" so, second time, he made me feel bad for no reason and still charged me anyways. I feel taken advantage of because I had already given him $2 tip (I felt bad that he pointed the cookie monster ice cream thing) and now he goes and charges me for something I didn't even get. I walked away feeling scammed, which is a terrible feeling to get from your local neighborhood ice cream shop.

I'm extremely lactose intolerant. I asked for non dairy ice cream and was told by a new hire the strawberry isn't dairy. Started eating it and was suspicious so asked what it was made of: soy, cashews, coconut etc and they didn't know. I got obnoxious and asked somebody else who worked there and she said it was actually dairy. They gave me a refund but now I'll be in pain the rest of the day. Basically: really grill them on what's dairy and what isn't if you're lactose intolerant because they don't train their people properly and you'll end up hurting yourself like I did.
