The food is always great every time. If I could eat Mexican food every night I would eat here to support the amazing staff that work at Fonda. The fried fish tacos and the skinny margaritas are SO bomb. The outdoor space heaters work SO WELL they even have heaters for under the table to keep my feet toasty. They also make delicious hot toddys!!

The best restaurant in town! I am so happy that I get to discover this restaurant because their food tastes so good! My mother and I enjoyed our food so much that we had a hard time finishing it because their serving is so big and knowing it's very affordable! Very highly recommended!

Huge portions and delicious cocktails! The pineapple margarita is spicy but sweet and the salmon is HUGE and very filling.

This was my 8th and last visit to Fonda. Food and cocktails were good, the rosè served was the worst I have ever tasted. The waiter took the cake though- never gave his name, just labeled as "bartender B" on our receipt. He was rude, did not clearly explain dishes and serving size and just made our experience so pleasant. I was embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to friends.

Brought a friend to this store for the first time and tried 9 different tacos each with different meats. The lengua, carnitas, and al pastor really stood out! They were amazingly tender and full of flavor. Really the best lengua I've had and I haven't been able to find similar taste and quality in other restaurants. Of course the salsa is wonderful and perfectly complements the flavors of each of the meats (really recommend the creamy orange colored spicy salsa)!

Have been there a few times now and have never had a bad experience. Came here once and sat at the bar, and recently moved in the area and have fully dined as well. The food is excellent, the drinks are well made, and the service is superb no matter where you're sitting. The atmosphere is nice, with a very homey feel. Basically, there's just not a bad thing say. Can't wait for this to be a staple in the many restaurants we love in the city!

I find it de rigueur to begin with a margie at Mexican restaurants, as we did at Fonda, ordering their Cadillac ($16) with a salted rim. That’s Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Fonda is one of chef and cookbook author Roberto Santibañez’s New York restaurant.

I think after Asian food, my favorite cuisines would be Mexican and Italian and the order varies depending on my mood. We're fortunate to have an ample number of both Mexican and Italian eateries in NYC that we like to explore. We recently visited Fonda, a two level eatery in Chelsea with a casual vibe. Guacamole is the de facto starter for us at any Mexican restaurant. It was made to order and arrived quickly at our table in a molcajete (a traditional Mexican version of a pestle and mortar) with hand pressed tortillas,

I really enjoy going to Fonda for Happy Hour. They give you big portions for small prices. The guacamole is always consistently delicious and i absolutely in love with their chorizo quesadillas. Just talking about it makes me hungry for more. The selection of drinks for the happy hour menu is great as well. The only thing is the bar is super small and they only offer happy hour service at the bar, I would love for them to accommodate those that cannot find a seat at the bar.
