Mooncake Foods is the epitome of one of the things New York does best: Amazing, mouth-watering food at affordable prices. I’ve had dreams about this meal ever since coming back to Denver. Dear lord.
We started out with the steamed peashoot and garlic dumplings. These delicate little pillows of green goodness in a wonton wrapper were perfectly paired by a tangy dipping sauce.
For the main course I ordered the miso-glazed salmon, which arrived with a fresh green salad with carrot ginger dressing.
"The crawfish dumplings are delicious layered with great flavors of sweet, lump crawfish tail meat, earthy shiitake mushrooms, watery crisp water chestnuts, and floral celery. Thet are plump, toothsome, and still not too heavy, the dumpling dough thin yet firmly wrapped around the crawfish mixture to hold the whole morsel together throughout each bite, even when dipped into a nicely spiced and acidic yet well balanced teriyaki-style sauce brightened with chopped scallions.
I had spring rolls which were outstanding, fresh and a great tasty sauce. Then I had the miso glazed salmon equally tasty, very nice food. The outside of the place is a little shabby but don't let Appearances fool you, step in its good food !!

Grilled chicken with garlic lime was great. The place is quite unassuming and unpretentious and I like that, particularly in Soho where there is many a place that is all about the look and the food be dammed.
I started with some edamame with sea salt and that was very fresh and tasty.
I than had some grilled chicken with garlic lime with fresh ginger iced tea. It was unreal. The grilled chicken was thigh meat and that is wonderful. Many an unaware person goes for the dish with white meat chicken and ends up disappointed because it is too dry. This was wonderfully succulent and tender with lots of flavor. The garlic lime that was incorporated into the sauce was sublime. Wonderful meal. The ginger iced tea was a refreshing blast. It was unforgettable.
Staff was efficient and friendly enough. They did take the time to fill me in on some of the dishes and that was appreciated.
All in all a great experience.

Randomly picked from the menu and it was all delicious. The squid, the lemon chicken, the ribs--all sublime. The beer wasn't bad either. Amazing prices. I'll definitely be back.
MoonLOVE. I was addicted to the Shanghai Short Ribs... ate them way too often. Then, I became addicted to the Octopus Salad...delish and beautiful chunks of octopus tentacles in a lovely bed of green noodles. My goodness, this place has a warm place in my heart.
Just a warning, lots of people know this Chinese comfort food will bring smiles on gray days, so expect a long wait when you order delivery on a rainy day.
Mooncake Foods moved to the new location which is close to the old one with more seats and wider space. The staff was attentive and served everything quickly.
I had their Spicy Thai Steak Salad with dressing on the side. The portion was huge and I can have it for lunch and dinner. The steak was cooked tender and well flavored. There was also a great variety of green in my salad.
Only complaint is they don’t take credit cards, cash or venmo only.
Fantastic salmon and chicken. The service was excellent too. So much better than the food that we had in an Italian and less than half the money
Mooncake is a no frills, all about the flavor kind of place. Cash only, Venmo friendly, they put their emphasis on serving you a consistently delicious plate. I worked close to this place in 2014 and used to order from here all the time. Came back five years later and the food still holds true. Healthy portion size, come hungry.
This place is great. Venmo or cash only. Love that they venmo–that is brilliant. Get the Summer Rolls; they are to die for and the sauce is a great pair. The only reason I am only giving it 4 stars is because when you walk in it is pretty smoke filled and I wasn't a huge fan of having my hair smell like smoke the rest of the day. BUT get it to go/take out and you'll be way happy. Everyone that works there is so kind and rad so sitting in is worth the smell just to be there.
Based on today would rate lower but had good meals previously. Today spicy tofu hero was sweet but not spicy, given same price as meat sandwiches with large amounts of meat they should have given more tofu.
Lobster and mango roll is excellent and grilled salmon with brown rice and salad is also delicious 😍
Always love the steak here. Perfectly cooked and the chimichurri sauce is amazing.
