This is one of the best Japanese BBQ places I’ve tried. Dinner was an amazing experience. The meats were upscale, the choices were outstanding and so was the taste. It’s a BBQ but the staff cooks for you table side that way it’s cooked to perfection. It was pricey to say the least but worth it for a splurge night! Waygu A5 was on point!!

4.5 / 5.0 - I’d had Yakiniku Futago on my list for ages and finally came for lunch yesterday with a friend. I didn’t even know they were open for lunch until recently and I’m guessing it’s not widely known because it wasn’t super busy. It is on the pricier side, but was so worth it.
For lunch, they have Regular and 1/2 size. The Regular is double the price of the 1/2 size and comes with 8 slices of meat—the 1/2 size comes with 4. My friend and I decided to get one of each, so we could each have 6 slices.
In addition to the BBQ, they had rice sets and other “add-on’s” like soup and salad, as well as other appetizer dishes and “beef sushi.”
We ordered:
- 1 Prime Short Rib (Kalbi) / Regular ($30+)
- 1 Prime Short Rib (Kalbi) / 1/2 ($15+)
- 2 Rice Sets ($5+ each)
- 1 Japanese Style Cold Noodles ($8+)
The regular size is served with salad, and the rice set included Japanese steamed rice, bone marrow egg soup and namul.
Everything was so delicious and the meat just melted in our mouths.
It is a spacious restaurant and the tables were spaced out, which was nice. And there is good ventilation right above the grill, so it didn’t get smokey at all.
$40+ is a bit expensive for lunch, especially for the amount of food you get, but it is high quality meat. If you love yakiniku and have never been, I highly recommend you give it a try!

Best BBQ by far! The chef knew every ingredients they dealt with. The meat was cut perfectly. Highly recommend the signature cuts - thick-cut tenderloin steak and thick-cut beef tongue were beyond expectation. The tenderloin was well balanced with the garlic butter sauce. The waiter served us was very knowledgable to explain the grill technics as well as how the sauce was made. It’s also a surprise they offered full dinner menu for weekend lunch. BTW, it’s more like Japanese & Korean fusion BBQ (not a problem but interesting to see they use scissors, serve bibimbap, serve lettuce for Wagyu)

It wasn’t anything spectacular. I wasn’t a fan of the sweet marinades, meat quality was tougher than expected for the most expensive selection of meats. Very small amount of meat for a bill that’ll most likely be $130+ easily. It’s good but not good for it’s price

We've been here a couple of times and the food never disappoint! We got the special wagyu this time and the server cooked it for us. Every part of that meat was so delicious! We also tried the cold noodle this time and it's a perfect refresher after the jbbq. The dessert matcha shaved ice was really good too. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely come back again!

We had a unique experience at Yakiniku Futago for lunch much on a Friday afternoon. It’s fun to cook the food ourselves. It was a bit new to us, but it’s fun to try. The steak and chicken had great flavors. Next time I probably will try more stuff there.

Very nice high end Japanese steakhouse. Prepare yourself for everything on the menu to be expensive but completely delicious melt in your mouth amasing. Service was great, food was great, lots of great sake as well. You can sit at the bar and get a limited menu if the restaurant is full and you'll still get a pretty epic meal.

Really a wonderful diner here. We have very high standards, but this was magnificent!!
The place if you like Wagyu and want to have a good time.

Nice high-end Japanese/Korean barbecue steakhouse. The bill can add up quickly if you don’t pay attention, dinner for four was $206 before tip and without drinks.
The service was excellent and if you are a regular diner, you even get (after 10 visits) a customized pair of gold colored barbecue tongs engraved with your name. The wait staff will assist you with grilling certain meats or will give you specific instructions on how long to grill each item.
Everything we had was delicious, beautifully seasoned or marinated and cooked to perfection. We loved the chicken, the pork neck, the dragon kalbi and more.

Very authentic Japanese BBQ but with relative high price comparing to Gyu-Kaku. If you have enough budget, it’s a must-go place to try some premium beef. We love the uni with wagyu on the special menu. Make sure to try the match rush. It’s like cold cloud melting in the mouth. The A5 wagyu in the treasure box is shipped by air directly from Japanese. The portion is not too much, but the taste is everything. Plus Very good service.

We came here for restaurant week and got what was on the menu for that and it didn't disappoint. Although it was definitely less than we thought it was going to be, it was a good tasting for an introduction to the restaurant.
We ended up also getting the thick cut tenderloin which was very delicious and well prepared in front of us by the waiter.
It seems like this place specializes in wagyu so that's what we'll get next time we come back.
Overall a really good experience.

Went here with my boyfriend for his birthday lunch.
Everyone should experience their Harami it’s the most tender but juiciest piece I have ever had in NYC. Niku sushi was bit over priced for only one piece ($15-19) so whoever has extraordinary income should enjoy it, otherwise just focus on BBQ.
After everything, you should order a bowl of cold noodles to clean up your mouth. Even though the restaurant is originally from West side of Japan, they serve northern Japanese style cold noodle which is really hard to find anywhere in the U.S for sure.

I think our experience was enhanced by our waiter. The food was great, and the service was EXCELLENT. The treasure chest wagyu is an experience that I wanted to show my mother and wife (it was a family dinner) but they were out of dry ice, and that's my only complaint.

We enjoyed every single bite of the treasury box, which came with a combo of various cuts: filet, top sirloin and ribeye. My favorite one is the filet. It was just melting in my mouth. The lightly seared wagyu, uni & shiso was good, but uni didn’t get a chance to shine under the seared wagyu. Grilled garlic in sesame oil was a very interesting side. We finished the meal with a big bowl garlic rice. It was full of garlic aroma and rice crusted well at the bottom.
The staff grilled the meat in front of us and very attentive. However, the restaurant was a bit under staff when we got in before 7pm on a Tuesday night. We were sitting there for almost 30 mins and no waiter/waitress even swing by, offer water or even help us order.

One of my favorite places in NYC. I always get the yuzu martini, fried chicken, shrimp and quail appetizer, and a selection of meats. The shrimp and quail appetizer is a must try.
The ambience is fantastic and service is excellent. The restrooms are also very posh and unique. This is the perfect place for a date night or for catching a meal with old friends.

Fantastic quality food and great service. If not drinking still expect to spend around 100 per person. The staff was attentive, the environment great and the meat of high quality. The beef sushi was of extraordinary caliber. We were unable to get their limited played however as it is restricted to 10 servings a day. This is a must for fans of yakiniku or meat lovers in general.

The ambiance and decor were excellent. We ordered the "chopstick" staff-cooked meats, as well as marrow soup, shrimp skewers, salad, and the kakigori (aka gold rush).
Every dish was delicious and well cooked, you taste what you're paying for. Service was top tier -- our server David was very attentive and happy to assist, chat, and answer questions.
Will be back & recommend to friends!
