Review Noreetuh - New York City

Finally tried this spot after being on my list for months! Ordered the Spicy Salmon Tartare, Spanish Octopus and Garlic Shrimp bowls. Despite the place being completely full we were well attended. One dish was a bit delayed and ended up a bit over cooked but the server was kind enough to remove it from the tab. The shrimp bowl had amazing garlic flavor! I’m not crazy about salmon but I really enjoyed the tartare. Overall delicious!

This modern Hawaiian restaurant is another spot that looks super low-key, but is an absolute gem! They elevated a lot of comfort foods in a delightful way. The scallop musubi, short rib, and noodles were definitely my favorites! They also have a very very extensive wine list, so it's the perfect spot for wine lovers who want a more casual vibe. Highly recommend!

One of the best dinners I’ve ever had in my entire life. Both the service and the food were absolutely OUTSTANDING. Boyfriend & I came during restaurant week - we got the salmon crispy poke appetizer, the salmon entree, the pork chop entree, and the chocolate haupia sundae. Everything was so perfect I can’t even describe it. We also got the spam sushi thingy & truffle corn cheese. Legit everything was OUT of this WORLD - I’ve never had such a perfect meal and cannot wait to come back here. Worth every single penny. Don’t even think twice!!

Went for restaurant week, Food was very good. The pineapples were very fresh and sweet. The garlic shrimp sauce was soooo good. Shrimp was nice and tender as well. The pork katsu was very good, nice and crispy, but a little towards the bland side. Dipping sauce more than made up for it though. It gets filled up fast inside, so get a reservation, or get there early to wait.

This place only gets five stars because the desserts were out of this world. The tuna tartare was really yummy but I don’t think it’s worth the price. The chicken loco moco was okay. It was a little boring flavor wise. The desserts, however, were out of this world!!! I would go back to noreetuh just for the pandan crème brûlée and bread pudding. I noticed a handful of reviews mention the pre fixe menu for restaurant week but I think the price has increased recently and now you only save like $3-5 bucks.

I came here 3 years ago and I remembered being good so we decided to try again and now my only regret is not coming here sooner! The poke was delicious and fresh and the salmon skin was cooked perfectly. They also sold vintage Armagnac which was a nice surprise.

TLDR: Noreetuh may be Hawaiian-esque but it's much more than spam musubi. Think hearty comfort foods but everything was done really well. Garlic Shrimp bowl, Mentaiko Spaghetti with Uni, Fried Chicken and the Mac Salad. I'm not sure why it took me so long to give Noreetuh a try but I am glad we did. It's a small restaurant but they make some tasty stuff here, Poke was solid, well-seasoned, nice quality tuna. The garlic shrimp bowl was one of those sweet/savory dishes I did not think I'd like but wow so much flavor. The mentaiko spaghetti was umami-rich, that uni just put it over the top and the sauce is crazy rich with that flaky smoked butter fish. So tasty. Everything else was really good too but absolutely try that mac salad. It's such a staple in Hawaiian cuisine but it was so good we ordered two! If you're in the East Village area and want to try something different - I'd highly recommend.

Highly recommend getting 1-2 musubi to start. Loved their spicy spam and mapo tofu. Kimchi turnip cake is really tasty too, but it is salty. Salmon crispy rice poke is really good but to note — not your normal “poke”. It’s more like an appetizer. For main - kimchi fried rice and garlic shrimp bowl is really good. Finish it off with their bread pudding (might be seasonal)!

Came here for restaurant week. Food was pretty good. Hawaiian flavors simply prepared. NYC doesn’t have too much Hawaiian food, so this was a treat, but food is not too special. Maybe this was just restaurant week rush, but don’t know if I’d come here again. Definitely nice to try.

Dined here on a Sunday evening. I didn’t want to walk in, so I called ahead to see if they had any reservations available for 3 that night, and they were able to take us within 30 mins. Perfect! I’m glad we called ahead because it’s really small inside. For appetizers we ordered the galbi musubi, spicy spam musubi, and kimchi radish cake. Musubis were awesome. The kimchi radish cake was a big surprise. I love radish (turnip) cakes from dim sum. This was the same exact style except mixed with kimchi. It was awesome. I loved it!! For my entree I got the shrimp rice bowl. It was garlic and so tasty. It came with tons of shrimp! For dessert they were out of the bruleed pineapples, so we opted for the pandan crème brûlée. One of the workers just so happen to remember me from high school and gave us an ice cream dessert as well. Both desserts were awesome. I loved the sweet and saltiness in the sundae she gave us. Service was excellent. I’d love to come back!
