Review Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya - New York City

Juan Lima
A very classy Japanese restaurant with the dining area located on the second floor. We were seating right by the entrance which provided a nice view of the lanterns that lighted up the stairs coming up. We had a sushi and sashimi combo and sashimi deluxe. Not overly heavy and it was a nice way to eat some healthy food to end the night without breaking the bank.

We lucked out moving right across the street from the Izakaya. We’ve lived across the street from the Soho location for years and it’s our favorite. The LES location did not disappoint!!! This location has even more options that are no longer on the other menu. Veggie tempura is a fave. As are the ebi shumai, the grilled avocado (a new fave!) and crispy rice. Full bar and ample space for large groups. Service was lovely and sitting at the sushi bar is always entertaining. Casual or can be a place to dress up. It’s dimly lit and decorated amazingly!

Try the pork or shrimp dumplings, with sushi and sashimi, of course. Western wine selections and price were reasonable. Sake list was great but the prices were NYC+

Enjoyable experience. Friendly and responsive staff. Sushi was delicious with a nice presentation. Tasteful decor. Concrete minimalist in hallway. Quiet. Would definitely visit again.

Seen a lot of negative reviews but as a person whose been to a lot of sushi joints I really don't understand it. The service was great, sushi was reasonable for the price and I felt the food was better then most spots in NY overall. Didn't love the atmosphere tho dining by the bar but a good time overall.

The atmosphere is amazing here. When I walk up the stair I didn’t know there’s a patio in the back. Great view and wonderful food. The fish is fresh especially the Uni is soooo sweet. 100% recommendation!! They have a super nice bar as well. Service here is fast, staff is knowledgeable about their menu and make good recommendations.

I visited for early dinner, the mood was calm, comfy, and sultry. The food....The food was FANTASTIC! We had Oxtail fried rice, Duck fried rice and Blue Ribbon wings and ALL the sauces. 10/10 would do it again.🙌🏽🤤🥰

It is delicious. Kinda price but delicious. Service could get kinda slow for certain dishes. And they forget to present one dish. Environment is nice or should I say the atmosphere. Definitely should visit here if you never been to a Blue Ribbon Sushi place. But I am just wondering when my second time would be compared that here are just so many places or choices to compete with. Keep moving buddy.

I am quite excited to finally be writing about Blue Ribbon. I have a weak spot for Japanese cuisine, and the Ribbon knew just how to rub it. Fantastic drinks, unparalleled kindness of the staff, and obviously some of the best sushi you will have in New York. The restaurant has an great decor, with a nice sphere and an efficient layout. One of those place you have to have eaten at when coming to SOHO, though you definitely need a reference, you’d walk right by this pearl.

Went for casual dinner, sashimi and sushi were average for the price but still good. The highlights of the night would be the bone marrow fried rice, savory with rich flavors. Enter the restaurant from the hotel next door to the second floor. The bar is also on the same floor with the awesome honest bartender.

Blue Ribbon Sushi certainly lives up to its name! Their sushi is absolutely top-notch, striking the perfect balance between fresh, high-quality ingredients and expert preparation. If you're a sushi aficionado, this is definitely a spot you'll want to check out. It's a delight for the taste buds! I always sit at the bar. The conversation, bartender and Yankee games are a great backdrop to the menu.

Great atmosphere, very attentative staff. Went there on a Sunday evening, and really dug the dim-lit atmosphere of the restaurant. They really nailed the Izakaya vibe. When I ordered only non-meat sushi, the waiter asked if I was vegetarian - which I am. After that, he made sure to give me miso soup that did not use fish broth. Really loved that attention.

Honestly the best Japanese food I’ve ever had, so fresh and so yummy ! We ordered a lot of food and I can’t picked which one was my favorite ! It kind of pricy , but for special occasion definitely worth it. The place itself is so nice and clean and everyone is so professional . I’ll definitely go back !

First time here! Our server was amazing. Every weird question we had; he answered! And if he didn't know was the answer he came back with an answer and a sample. We asked for recommendations, he was candid and it's always best when server says he like something particular that your interested in and elaborates why he likes it. Super fresh fish! Even from Japan! Dont forget to check out their specials!

Has a wide variety of traditional, experimental, and obscure sushi dishes. All of them are delicious. Also has a good variety of Japanese drinks and American options. Great atmosphere, knowledgable wait staff, all around pretty perfect dining experience.

I love experimenting with cuisines and this place really allowed me to do this. Although primarily serving sushi, they have some really interesting fried rice dishes one of which I tried and totally fell in love with. The primary ingredient in that dish apparently is ox-tail!

We came for dinner on a Thursday night and the place was reasonably full at around 7:30pm. We started off with the sushi platter which was amazing because I got to try so many types of sushi. They don't serve wasabi sauce the usual liquid-y way and instead as small waxy balls. I'm terrified of wasabi so I stayed away! We then ordered fried chicken wings which were good but not great. I also had the margherita that is made using a special Japanese ingredient (I forget) and it was as potent as it was small! Brilliant!

The star of the night was the ox-tail bone marrow fried rice. It sounds insane but it tastes insanely good. At no cost should this dish be missed if eating here for the first time. The quantity of everything is very reasonable so for two folks, you will probably be left with a lot to pack for home.

I loved the ambience with the Japanese cherry blossoms and subtle lights. The sushi bar looked great! Highly recommend this place but be warned it can really burn a hole in your wallet!

Great sushi but even better chicken wings! Some of the best anywhere. Crispy goodness.

Beer garden is a bit cheesy... Overall great place with an attentive staff.
