Review Glass House Tavern - New York City

IN TIMES SQUARE? STOP SEARCHING… My wife and I came to the city to see a couple of shows last year and stayed at The W just a few doors down. After the first late night at MSG we stumbled upon Glass House and the door man asked if we were looking for anything in particular, we responded that we were looking for food (it was LATE), he invited us right in. As it was our first time in the city we were skeptical but came on in and sat at the bar. We were greeted by Sky and developed what we hope will be a long friendship. Long story short we came back the next night and then returned this year TWICE! The food is amazing (DO. NOT. SKIP the truffle risotto balls!!!!!). Every employee was extremely helpful, courteous, and welcoming. We love this place. GREAT FOOD. GREAT DRINKS. GREAT MUSIC. GREAT SERVICE. Skip the tourist traps late at night and go directly to Glass House. *** Although you’ll likely have a great experience either way, ask to sit at the bar in Sky’s section. You will thank me!!!!

My favorite apres theatre spot! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the vibe a good balance between fun and not crazy. Good wine choices, and the food is always perfectly prepared with excellent ingredients. My go-tos are the crab cake (appetizer from full menu), hangar steak sandwich (bar menu), or one of the risotto dishes. Kitchen is open later than many of the restaurants in midtown, making it perfect for after a show.

After a long day of exploring midtown, we realized that we wouldn't have time to both return to our hotel to freshen up and eat before our Broadway show. We came across the Glass House Tavern and were immediately welcomed despite having no reservations and wearing street clothes (including messy toque hair). Service was impeccable, food was divine (I had the roasted chicken which was so tender) and my drink was tasty and strong. Amazing experience!

Great dining experience near the theater district. A bit pricey, but the service and food are both of the highest quality. I started with the burrata which was creamy and delicious. My hangar steak was tender and juicy, and cooked perfectly. It was placed on top of au gratin potatoes which were warm and tasty. The zeppolo for dessert is a must, as it was sweet and exquisite. A great place to eat if you plan on seeing a show.

Great place off the Square, it has its own vide. We came off the recommendations and reviews. Which are on point. Food A+, service to boot. Kudos to Chris Riley, and our server Mario.

This place is amazing! Needed to escape the craziness of Times Square so bad and was treated with such kindness when me and 3 others came in on a Saturday night and the manager sat us right away. Our server and other wait staff were so kind, and the food was amazing! Definitely a restaurant that deserves your business.

What an absolute delight! We went there for their advertised pre-theater prix fixe dinner. Let me tell you - the butternut squash risotto was to die for. The crab cake was almost all meat with a delicious remoulade with a little kick. The bone in pork chop was phenomenal per my friend and it was colossal on the plate. The filet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium rare and fantastic. The chocolate cake with berries was also amazing. Our server, Bogdon (sp?), took care of us, got us out with plenty of time to spare for our share and made us laugh a few times. I then raved to many people after the dinner of what a wonderfully affordable and delicious experience we had. Thanks, Glass House Tavern.

What a nice experience. We decided to go to Glads House Tavern for dinner after our visit to Manhattan during Christmas time and after Broadway show. We were walk in without reservations, we were welcomed with very friendly and warm staff. We sat at the bar for a drink while waiting for our table. The wait wasn’t long and we had a wonderful dinner. Professional staff, very friendly and awesome atmosphere. Drinks and food were delicious. They defiantly made our night. Thank you guys.

Excellent food and great service right in the heart of the Theatre District and 5 minutes walk from Times Square. Great place to meet family and friends, our first time in New York City and we were meeting our American relations so needed good food and a place to talk. This served our requirements perfectly.

Good food but overpriced. Makes sense given the location and the fact that their kitchen is open later than most restaurants in this area, making it great for folks who are hungry after a show. Upstairs is a more quiet dining experience perfect for families while downstairs provides a loungier experience. Also the bar food is actually good. If you sit upstairs, ask to see that menu as they don’t give it to you upon seating. The drinks were good and our server was nice, though appeared very tired. My only negative note was that we were seated near the top of the stairs so we constantly had our ear drums attacked whenever servers would throw dishes into their buckets. It was distracting and very loud!

We chose this restaurant after viewing the menu online, reasonable pricing and proximity to special event that we needed to attend immediately after dinner. Proximity was probably the most important thing. So when it came to dinner time, I had my fingers crossed that the food would be good. After all, I was entertaining clients and didn't want to look bad, right? We arrived 15 minutes early and were sat immediately even though only half our group was there. Our table was right under the a/c and created really cold chairs (we were all dressed up in fancy Summer dresses with open backs and the chairs were made of metal, so it felt freezing); we asked if it could be turned down, and it was resolved immediately. Then when presented with the menu, everything sounded just as great as I hoped. I ordered the crab cakes and while surprised that only one arrived on my plate, it was the best I ever had, so who cares? [don't offer to share this dish!] There were 14 of us and the bill came in under $1000. Factors that made it more affordable was that there was only 2 rounds of drinks and one bottle of wine purchased (and that was Champagne), so I was very happy with my investment. I will definitely be treating my clients here again when I am in NY!

Fish was smaller than my palm, the pork shank had absolutely no flavor. The room itself is old and run down. The staff was very nice

Food was excellent from appetizer to dessert! Mozzarella and tomato dish not impressive at this type of restaurant ! Overall highly recommend this restaurant!

This was my first time at the GHT, and I will not return. We just came from the theater, and we just wanted something light. We ordered the soup and a simple salad. The soup was okay but not anything special. And the salad was very nice, but not enough dressing. Our waiter lost interest in us and had his sights set on larger parties who were ordering more food. He was also very difficult to understand. I couldn’t even place the accent. He brought us a dessert menu but he never returned. We had to hunt down the maitre’d, who agreed to bring our check (we did get a nice dessert a few doors down 44th St.). I am usually a 25% or more tipper, but not for this guy. I hope he was luckier as the night progressed.

This was our first time here and we made reservations mainly because of the restaurant’s proximity to the theater. We will definitely return. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had the sea bass and chicken as our entrees, crab cake and salad with pecans to start. The warm chocolate cake and bread pudding we had for dessert were out of this world. Nice selection of wine as well. Highly recommend!

Went to the city to see Waitress without lunch reservations. We looked at 2 restaurants by the Brooks Atkinson theater. We choose Glass House Tavern. We made the best choice. We had the fixed price brunch. Everything was delicious. Our server Carlos was excellent. We will definitely go back again.

We had a late lunch this past Friday and all of us enjoyed our meals. Reasonably priced, too. Unfortunately, we went back for dinner yesterday, July 29, and it was only so so. The ceviche was nothing at all like real ceviche. The sliders were really too well done and the regular fries that were so delicious on Friday weren’t cooked thoroughly and were chewy instead of crispy. The shoestrings were great, though.

good food and excellent service. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Right in the theater district. They offer a gluten-free menu, with lots of options. Dinner about $40 - $75 per person.

Went for dinner on Saturday. We were seated right away and staff was very friendly. Dinner was delicious I had the filet mignon- cooked to perfection. Also had drinks and dessert. Would definitely recommend going there.
