What a place full of history! to say that George Washington was there! We had the opportunity to spend one. Christmas Eve at this place and we really enjoyed it. special mention for the oysters which were very good! I highly recommend this warm place

Pretty historic place this Fraunces Tavern. Washington used to come here with his friends and commanders. We went there with our friends! It was a nice experience. The service was great and the food and drinks were amazing. The vibe was excellent. The restaurant gets very busy so we recommend booking early. If you want to hangout with close friends or want to impress someone you should consider this place. I would definitely visit this place again!

The restaurant is a magical place. There's all these books to dine privately or dine at the chefs table. The food was spectacular and make sure to come early so you can check out the museum upstairs. The staff are warm and friendly and make you feel like royalty. I would recommend for dates, corp meetings and family get togethers.

Really lovely food, and a very nice restaurant. The lack of welcome from the bar staff (I went there instead of the restaurant) was a disappointing first impression... But I found our way to the restaurant and had a very nice meal. Good quality food. Decor was really festive. Lots of choice so good for dietary restrictions

From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The staff was incredibly friendly. Fantastic ambiance and great customer service. Awesome selection of single malts . knowledgeable and guided us through the menu. A top-notch experience from start to finish

One of the oldest buildings in the city. Oldest tavern/restaurant. Excellent food and juicy porkchop. Nice staff but not all. Reserve for a better experience. There's a museum upstairs that you can visit.

This is a really cool establishment. Very old vibes - this is a bar/ restaurant/ museum. The architecture is classic American architecture - the place doesn’t opened in 1700s!!! Good selection of beers and the food is pretty decent… staff was nice and friendly.

Fraunces Tavern isn't just a restaurant, it's a living piece of history. Stepping into this 18th-century establishment is like stepping back in time. Imagine George Washington and the Founding Fathers walking these very floorboards! The food is amazing! Classic American fare with modern twists. The New England clam chowder, steak, and braised short rib sliders are must-tries. Generous portions, reasonable prices. Service is phenomenal! Our knowledgeable waiter answered all our questions and made sure we had everything. For history buffs, the museum on the second floor is fascinating. Exhibits give a glimpse into the lives of those who frequented the tavern during the Revolutionary War. Overall, Fraunces Tavern is an amazing experience. Delicious food, rich history, and friendly service. Highly recommend! Why 5 stars: Location: Heart of the Financial District Ambiance: Historic and charming Food: Delicious American classics Service: Friendly and knowledgeable Value: Reasonable prices Activities: Museum, live music For a unique and memorable dining experience in NYC, look no further than Fraunces Tavern. You won't regret it!

The atmosphere is fantastic. All rooms/bars are beautifully designed with history in mind. Drinks are as delicious as the food.

Multiple rooms with different aesthetics and menus. A vibe suitable for families or team dinners downstairs and a dimly lit piano bar upstairs for dates. In December, you might find Santa and George Washington visiting your table!

I'd give more stars for the service and atmosphere if I could. What a gem of a place! Take time to walk around inside and explore. So much to see. Loved our bartender. Here in the States from Ireland for only 4 months. He was funny, saucy and a lot of fun.

Excellent historic experience with top quality food and drinks as well as fast, efficient service. Very pleased with our experience here with a party of 5.

This was a way out of the way trek from downtown but a fun find. (Convenient from the Staten Island Ferry into Manhattan or on the return from Lady Liberty.) A place that served as George Washington’s HQ for negotiating with King George. The chowder was light, chunky and spectacular, the filet was under salted but perfectly tender —better than over salted , and the rowdy history was profound!

Extremely cool and cozy atmosphere and history. Tasty food. Worth the time to pay and visit the museum upstairs. Upscale grilled cheese and tomato bisque that was amazing.

I had an incredible experience here. I ordered a charcuterie board and a beer. Because the selection is vast, I asked the waitress to pick my board and beer. She asked me some questions, and she HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK!!! I wish that I could remember her name. Fraunces, please give that gal a raise! She was amazing!

Fraunces Tavern is a lovely spot dating back to the 1700s. The tavern offers the best of both worlds: On one side there’s a beautiful dining room with an upscale menu and on the other side there’s a cool pub with pub fair. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both the dining room and the pub. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the establishment has a decent early American museum upstairs that’s definitely worth checking out. The staff is also lovely.

Wonderful food, large portions. The service was the one bummer. It took over 10 minutes for the server to greet us (@4pm) and slow tonrefil drinks. It was not a busy time. We were in a section just off from the bar and music, so I do not know if he had tables in other areas.

It is sad to see such an old historic building turn into a Dallas country bar. we entered into the establishment with no greeting for the hostess, no problem it was a little busy. We went into the back bar and found the banquet seating practically empty. we ventured further and found a bar at the back, and it was empty with no bartender, we thought it was closed. So we returned to the banquet by the elevator. There were three people sitting at one end and completely empty at the other end flanking to the back wall. After we sat down and began to read and the drinks menu. The blonde haired slightly plump waitress, who couldn't careless is we lived or died took our order. After she took the order she told us, and I quote; "This is happy hour and if more people come in you will have to move." Both my friend and I we stunned by her comment. We live here and have drank in many establishments, including your Fraunces Tavern, around downtown and never have I been told to move before I even get a drinks. Now I understand that restaurants and bars get busy and my etiquette has taught me to be polite in these situation’s nonetheless this waitress thought we were commoners and would not be accommodating this a situation that had not a raised yet. Our drinks were dropped and not another word spoken. We watched the three people as they got their oysters at the other end. Their plate was placed on a stand and they were not given any side plates, napkins or silverware. So they had to eat over the plate on the stand.... Next to us was a bus stand with a cornucopia of plates and silverware and napkins, it made the place look efficient, but not useful to the customers at the end. And the bus-girl did nothing to aid them, nevertheless she made sure the stand was well stocked. I was happy we were next to the bus-stand so we could use a stack of napkins, under the leg, to prop up the unbalanced table. At this point we decided that we were not going to eat in the dining room. After a talk with my guest it was decided if this is how the wait staff treat their guests, then this was not the place to eat. A tall slim gentleman passed us several times, he looked like the manager. He passed the people struggling with the oysters, looked at us and decided we were not worth talking to. The check was dropped and as far as the waitress was concerned were we out of there. We actually passed her in the bar and she just looked away. I'm assuming she thought we were tourists and were weren't worth the time of day.

I would highly recommend this place to try their huge selection of Beers and Whiskey. The atmosphere is historic and definitely a great place to hangout for a few drinks or food after work. The truffle fries are to die for :)

You can breath history in this place. People was so cool, original meals and the best beer in Manhattan. Excelent place, If I knew it earlier I would have spent all my evenings there!

The place is beautiful... very much worth the visit... but waitress not so friendly... and better if you try beers... I ordered an margarita and it was very disappointing... Food is good but the cheese and meat are wonderful

The ruben was delicious and the fries were outstanding I would try and see if they can be ordered together as an option. The beer selection was huge and the general atmosphere of the place was rustic and authentic. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in beer.

Fascinating ancient tavern one of the oldest if not the oldest in New York City. I was at the whiskey bar which is cozy and warm,Irish barman was charming, cocktails were excellent so were the appetizers.

We'be been here a couple of times in the bar and it's a great place to hang out. Had a delicious cheese board & cocktails. It's a super cool place definitely recommend stopping in.

Went there 18 Dec. Great atmosphere, music, service. But best of all is the possibility to order full Irish breakfast any time of the day. only very minor downside is they would not allow me to substitute extra white pudding (love it) for black (good but less to my taste.) Definitely will go back!

Beautiful building. Friendly helpful staff very attentive. Drinks were great. Loved the shortrib appetizer! My friend had the burger it was so huge she couldn't finish it. My Reuben was great with a twist it was under marble rye! Looking forward to going there again

Incredible, surreal and beautiful place for a drink and to feel like you've gone back in time. ONLY issue is that twice I've gone when they've closed way before their stated time. But if you come well before midnight, it's great. A different vibe in every room. <3

Great drinks after a day of wondering NYC, excellent food and loved the live tavern music!
Stacy Riphagen
Loved this pub and the history of the building. Decor was nice and well thought with the elements they used. The cow hide they used on the booth. What a great conversation piece. Staff was very pleasantly and fun to talk with. Must try the sour beers.

Food is incredible. Historic atmosphere and ambiance make this a “must” whenever visiting NYC.

Fantastically-authentic tavern with an amazing selection of craft brews, whiskeys and cocktails. Although we didn't dine, the food looks (and smells) amazing! Hey, if it was good enough for General George Washington and his troops...
