Exactly what we wanted in a diner to complete our NYC vacation experience. Large portions. Friendly staff. Super friendly customers. I had the country breakfast. One thing I noticed compared to Canada. All the meals, meat was extra. Not a big deal. Just interesting. Our kids had pancakes and were happy as can be.
Cute old school diner! I absolutely loved it! The service was great and the food was even better.
We always enjoy our food when we come to The Comfort Diner for breakfast. They are consistent and the staff is very friendly.
The ‘home fires’ are a blend of sweet potatoes and white potatoes. The are tasty! We always request maple syrup when get breakfast from anywhere we go… surprisingly they had some!!
There is outdoor seating, if you desire to sit outside. Aside from the craziness of Ny streets, you should be able to enjoy your food.
This was a great atmosphere. The service was nice and friendly. The food came out quick and it was good. Our waitress Andrea was friendly and personable. Great experience overall!!!!
Delicious food, amazing staff, what more could you ask for? I'm always torn between the womlette (love child of a Belgian Waffle and an omlette) and the Chili Mac. There are no bad options here, but those two are my favorites.

A decent diner with what you'd expect. I had Eggs Benedict, which was fine, but not great. The coffee was good and a refill came when needed. What is there to add? :)
It could be cheaper, too - 20+ for breakfast is not exactly affordable, but it is Manhattan and there is inflation, so there is that.

We were caught in the middle of a heavy rainstorm, and was craving for breakfast for brunch. Found this little place right near our hotel that serves bisquits and gravy, and thought, hey, let's give it a go since we have never tasted bisquits prepared on the east side of the country. First off, we waited at the entrance to see if we were supposed to wait to be seated. There was no sign, the servers walked around us, saw us, but ignored us like we weren't there, so, we thought maybe we should seat ourselves as it was our first time in NYC. We found a booth and sat down. After a long wait, we were told to move to a table seat right near the door, without letting us know what was going on, nor checking if we had wanted a booth or a table. Hubby was pissed, so we headed out. The server was apologetic, we knew it was not the server's fault. There were available booths and the restaurant was not crowded at the time we were there. So, we were given a booth inside the restaurant, and we were good. Apart from all that, I must say the food was pretty awesome. Bisquits were sweet, unlike the savoury kind we have back home; first time having grits with biscuits and gravy, so it was something new. Overall, our day was not completely ruined, and that was really something.

Fly in from Texas, and popped into this quaint little Diner with my mom and Aunt. Service, five stars.... Andrea was an absolute doll. And the owner popped over to check on us, super sweet. The food... delicious, flavorful and tasty. Mom had chicken noodle soup, salmon with lemon cream sauce (that was delicious). I had chicken pot pie... comforting and tasty. My Aunt had a burger and fries.
I'm actually going back tomorrow for breakfast 😋.
It was good to be back , I built this place some 25years ago , it’s still holding up well food and staff were great and the dinner was full for brunch, from the tiled floors to the extruded polished stainless steel cove moldings the place looked good. Happy to see it’s still a thriving business - despite being buried under scaffold on the outside.
