The food was beautiful to look at and tasted delicious. The interior decor was very modern and trendy, and we enjoyed the interesting designs of the plates/serviceware as well. We went with the fixed price four course dinner and wine pairing. (I added pictures of my friends' food as well to help show the variety.) Also, we bumped into a friend in the city and Aldea was super accommodating by letting us add to our initial four person reservation at the last minute.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars (and perhaps I'm just not well versed in the intricacies of fine dining, or perhaps I'm just impatient) but the entire four course dinner took about four hours, and most of the last hour was spent waiting to receive the check, then again waiting to pay for the check. They were definitely busy, and I understand that, but for the money they are charging for the small plate style dining... it seemed a bit unreasonable. None of us were expecting to spend the whole rest of our evening there (6:30 to about 10:30) and were bummed that we just had to head straight to Grand Central after instead of being able to explore a bit more.
While it was definitely a fun food experience with friends, I don't know that I would go back again--but only because I would want to be able to budget my time better while visiting NYC. If I was local, I would probably go again for a special occasion.

Amazing experience and food. The depth of flavour is phenomenal. We had the 4 course menu. Service was also outstanding. Great experience for a special night out. The chefs table was great to be able to watch everything being made. everything was superb, the grilled octopus, duck confit and the lobster were some of our favs.

There are two floors of seating in this place. I sat on the top floor with an early reservation and was the only table there for most of the meal which was kind of nice. On the top floor there was a semi private room for a larger party, so this seems like a great place for a work team dinner or something of the sort.
The Ibérico ham starter was solid. The octopus second course was perfectly cooked. The flavor profile was great as well. The char flavor was delicious. The cod main was very well cooked. It had a bit of a citrus flavor throughout which was nice but it didn't blow me away. The scallops on the other hand were incredible. These were the best scallops I've tasted. They were served with a pea puree which I wished there was a bit more of.
The sonhos with passion fruit puree and caramel sauce were delicious. The chocolate mousse I was far less enamored with. It was more like a fudge than a mousse.
The wait staff here was extremely attentive and nice with good wine recommendations.
Overall it was a very good experience.

Serving staff are friendly and very attentive. They come wipe your table after every course. Delicious mini baguette. Good selection of Portuguese wine which I feel is a bit undervalued. Food is delicious but the prefix is not worth considering relative to the ala carte menu. The menu is a bit limited. Small complimentary pre appetizer as per desert is a nice touch. Pleasant environment with clean Scandinavian decoration. A good venue for a casual dinner. Recommended.

Wow.
Superb service, I got to watch the magic of the kitchen. I chose the four course dinner with wine pairing.
Presentation was beautiful and the connection to Portuguese dishes was an intimate appreciation for the traditional cuisine with a 21st century mindset. Well done, Chef George.

Still the best restaurant for Portuguese eats in the city, though you won't find much of the rustic quality of the cuisine in this Michelin Star menu. The seasoning needed to be stronger in the shrimp (none of the classic heat you'd expect from alhinho) and bacalhau, but nice overall.

My friend picked this place for our monthly gathering. This is definitely not a ordinary Portuguese restaurant, it is more than that. From the food selection to the plating presentation, you can see how much they did input. We sat at the end next to the kitchen and so we saw the flow of the food preparation. Service was good and as well as the ambience.

Lovely Portuguese place in the city. Great seafood selection for a price fix menu. The table did a 4 course ($89) and we were stuff by the end of the meal. The main selection was a generous portion, so you won't leave hungry. All courses were delicious, but just not one dish was memorable that stood out. Only complaint of the night would be the pace was a bit too slow. For a 4 course (really 6) took 3 hours to complete.

This is a beautiful little Portuguese restaurant a total gem in New York City I don't know if it hasn't Michelin star but it should it has a beautiful Ambience to it and I love the setup of the restaurant the food was especially good which is the reason one person would actually even attempt to go to this restaurant or any restaurants but the sea urchins were out of this world. I'm sure I will go back to this place again and again and maybe again and again. So it took a recap great food great ambiance great location lots of parking exactly outside fantastic service and amazing food what else can you ask for.

Amazing food with portions that are slightly too generous for a full four-course. Highly recommend the uni toast and the prawn starter. Tip- Save room for dessert by having two appetizers instead of a main...

Awesome atmosphere, great selection and food. Morel course was excellent, smokey shrimp and the fish courses were our favorites. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Will return!

Aldea never disappoints. The food and the service are both excellent. Great for a special date or occasion. My girlfriend and I have been there several times. We have also been to Lupulo, which is great in its own way, but Aldea, to me, is the more romantic of the two.

Had the chance so sit by the Chef's table. It's amazing to see all the action in the kitchen. Great food and service...

We went in for the lunch deal and were not disappointed. It was fairly quiet and the staff were absolutely lovely. We asked if we could sit by the bar so we could see into the kitchen which was super cool! The mackerel was my favourite dish - smoky, clear and refined. We left the restaurant stuffed from only 3 courses. Stayed for coffee afterwards and were the last to leave but didn't feel rushed. Would definitely go again!

We celebrated my wife's birthday at Aldea and it was a perfect choice! Delicious food coupled with savory wine and great service. We will be coming back! Pork shoulder and the snails were magnificent.
