My first choice for the best in vegan/vegetarian dining. This upscale gourmet vegan restaurant is the ultimate experience. Posh setting feels luxurious - red velvet and dark woodwork make you feel like you are truly out on the town.
Get to the menu and there are simply TOO MANY EXCELLENT CHOICES! I’ve eaten there a half dozen times and still can’t say I’ve tasted everything that appeals to me.
The desserts are over the top and provide the perfect finish to a meal worth boasting and bragging. I bring friends here I want to impress who appreciate the best and are socially
conscious. Two thumbs up.
Warrior Queen
An amazing vegan restaurant with gourmet style food. The cauliflower appetizer with an almond cream is perfect as well as their flatbread pizza. Nut cheeses are great. Their chocolate peanut butter bliss dessert beats any dessert that's not vegan and has a sea salt chocolate crust. Love love this place. The drinks are also very delicious.

Was a great experience and I'm glad that I got to eat there before it closed! The plant-based ricotta on cucumber compliments of the chef was divine. The best dish in my opinion was the cauliflower appetizer, but my main dish (the special) was good too.

Wonderful food with excellent service. Everything we tried here was tasty and delicious, and not pretentious. Elevated vegan comfort food. The desserts we tried, the pumpkin cheesecake and brownie were really scrumptious. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. We will definitely be back!

Amazing vegan restaurant. The food was beyond amazing well at least what I had (Wild Mushroom Crepe). My wife had the the spaghetti and wheat balls which I tried as well. By the way my wife isn't even vegan she just came to try it with me and she is picky but she loved the dish so that extremely made me happy to be able to share that experience with her. The waiters where extremely helpful, polite, and just amazing. Definitely recommend this place and yes I will be back.

Vegan fine dining - came here for my partner’s birthday while we were on vacation. New York has lots of vegan fast food options but Candle 79 has a lovely bistro ambience, great service and proper restaurant quality dishes.

This was an amazing meal. I had the spaghetti and wheatballs and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the steamed dumplings and fried zucchini. The food was well-seasoned, piping hot, and served in a timely manner. The service was attentive and personable. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend Candle 79.

Crepe is absolutely delicious. My salad was missing an ingredient so I took off one star. I still highly recommend it! Go if you’re looking for high quality healthy cuisine.

The water was the best part of the meal... Let's see where do I start? The Mezze Platter looked great, and the description seemed tasty, until it arrived. Upon 1st tatse, I was let down. Tasteless was an understatement. Next up, the avocado salad, sounded amazing. Let's just say disaster on a plate. I also had their soup special, black bean chipotle which tasted like a warm can of no salt added black beans, no flavor at all. When I express my displeasure with the waiter, his response was we don't use much salt here. Correction, they use no salt, herbs, or seasoning. I've been vegan all of my life, and I know that vegan food can taste wonderful. Obviously, Candle 79 didn't get the memo. Oh, and before I forget the bullet hole in the window had me wondering if I'm safe here. Really disappointed, is this the best New York City has to offer in vegan fare? �

It was the best vegan dining experience we have ever had. The food and the service were exceptional.

Amazing on all counts. No matter your cuisine preferences, you shouldn’t miss this restaurant in Manhattan on the Upper East Side. You’ll have a very serene feel with Buddhist vibe, and the best food of ever, with a wide variety. Highly recommend Candle 79.

It is a rare treat in NYC to find a great meal in a quiet atmosphere where you don't feel like you are sitting on top of the other diners.. Candle 79 is just that place. Not all members in the party were vegan, but we all were able to find something wonderful on the menu. The service was excellent, not suffocating, and we were able to enjoy a delicious and leisurely meal.

Obviously, it's something for an occasion. But whoever says it's too expensive has no clue of how much it costs to keep a restaurant of this level in Manhattan. And to have it flowing in perfect timing like that… wow! Good job everyone!

The food was out of this world and I had the jalapeño passion fruit cocktail. The service was wonderful and the decaf was amazing. We had the gazpacho and a salad that we split, stuffed squash blossoms, and the cauliflower. We split everything and had the cannoli for dessert. With ice cream.
