Review Rice To Riches - New York City

julio chacon
This is a one of a kind place. I used to think there was only cinnamon & raisin rice pudding like my grandma used to make. At Rice to Riches, there are 21 different flavors & every single one I’ve tried is Excellent!!! The staff is always smiling & treat people with professionalism & respect! I love this place!! If you’re in NYC, this is a must stop! The ownership has a great sense of humor. Stop by & you’ll see what I mean!!

My positive warning is that even the smallest option (the See me bowl) is very filling! So consider that when purchasing. They have a variety of selections and currently have a vegan option as their selection. I did not notice that they have coffee and tea and wished I had tried their beverages. I am sure they would have tested great. The staff are very hard working and the line moves pretty quickly for purchases.

As a Palestinian American I was stoked to try this place. It’s the only place in America to my knowledge where there’s flavored rice pudding what y’all thought I was going to rate it, really expensive but tasty. Nothing can beat a traditional Palestinian woman’s version of rice pudding but i had a good time here and would come back to try other flavors. I got the OG unflavored rice pudding which was amazing but then I also got the cheesecake which was okay but I would’ve gotten something else to be honest.

So happy this place is still open. Haven’t been here since pre-covid. If you’ve only had the grocery store version, this place will change your perception of what rice pudding tastes like. Don’t live in the area so grabbing takeout is a must. My go to flavor is marzipan with 🍒. Pricey but worth it!

Been going here for a view years now. I can’t help but bring friends here that thought they wouldn’t like rice pudding but this is just different! Most of the employees are nice I always get the 3 flavors My go to for sure is the French toast flavor forgot the name but wow Best one for sure I also enjoy their quirky little sayings through out the store

Price has crept up over the years but it's a nuce splurge when in the area. The sole worker was a really nice Russian guy who was patient and generous with his serving! Loved the white choc peanut butter. It needs no toppings. They have a funny tip box which I encourage you to exercise your write to vote!

Nothing has changed in 17 years since we started coming here! It still tastes the same (delicious!) and the service is still the same (grouchy and not great!). We come whenever visiting the city because it’s really good and nostalgic for us. Maybe they could consider different containers/bowls for dine in that would be less waste and also likely less expensive.

Fast service! I was greeted as soon as I walked in. It was bright and clean. You can sit down if you want. The rice pudding is delicious!

I highly considered looking into opening up one of these where I lived after visiting, I loved it that much! It was such a unique, delicious, filling dessert. Something different, not too sweet, but definitely fulfilling that sweet craving to its fullest. I loved it so much I went back a second time before ending our trip. Every flavor is so delicious and so different. There are so many options and the bowls and spoons are so cute and unique too. I was very entertained by all the quotes around the place too. 🤣

Still a great product but a bit on the pricey side. I asked to get two flavors in a small container and was not allowed to. To get two flavors I had to upgrade to the next size container. I still can't understand this as there is ample room to put two flavors in the smaller-sized container. That is why they have a star deducted from my previous review.

Stopped by this place on a whim while we were on the way to another store and wow, a rice pudding dessert restaurant? That’s unheard of to me. They have a multitude of different rice pudding flavors such as rocky road, banana, coconut, the classic vanilla, key lime pie, etc. They allow sampling but it’s limited to only 3 different flavors. There’s different sized bowls which allow for only 1 flavor, 1-2 flavors, etc. The exterior and interior of the store is quirky and clean. Service was good, they were a bit busy at the time that I visited. They pack your pudding all the way to the top so you get the most out of your bowl that you’ve selected. The spoons and bowl that they provide your pudding in is actually very sturdy and well made, if you order to go they provide a free bag (I had to mention this because many places charge at least $0.05 cents per bag). The rice pudding itself is pretty thick, the consistency isn’t watered down. The rice is soft and chewy. The individual flavors are very distinctive—the chocolate flavors are very apparent and same thing applies to the other flavors. I was happy with my order. Rice to Riches seems like a New York City only based business which makes me even happier than I’ve stumbled upon here.

I just visited this trendy and wonderfully enjoyable paradise today , I wanted to taste every flavor but settled for creamy cheese cake rice pudding selection . It was a delight eating this piece of heavenly dessert while reading all the funny signs through out the store . I will most definitely come back and recommend others to enjoy Rice to Riches ! I hope a chain of these pops up close to me in Tamoa , Florida as long as the recipes are kept in it's authentic form!

This place is amazing. I always go to lombardis and then I ALWAYS go here after. When I have friends traveling to the city I always make them go! This place is top notch!! Their website has been under construction for like 10 years though. Hmmm

My friends & I found R2R when we visited NYC 4 years ago and now it is a must when I’m back in NYC. This time shared with my parents - they loved it also!!

So many flavors, some more delicious than others. I bought the Oreo-gasm and the wild berry. I sampled a bunch too. Loved the caramel, very creamy. I recommend Rice to Riches. Everyone should try it.

FANTASTIC!!! The rice pudding is beyond exceptional. The ambience is perfect, with hilarious signs everywhere. You could spend hours just reading them all! And the staff, wow. Friendly beyond belief, helpful, and give great suggestions. The only negative is you're not allowed to give tips. Wish we could, bc tips were well earned. You must go.

Wow, wow, wow! Puerto Rican's are known for their rice pudding but have to say you took it up 10 notches! We tried coconut coma and rum raisin and it was AMAZING! Can't wait to go back and try other flavors! Please go check it out!

Rice To Riches is the most delicious and unique tasting rice pudding! Unlike anything you have ever experienced, their puddings will make you swoon in delight after your first taste! My favorite is the Man Made Marscapone! I cant explain how good it is but I can describe it. Its not the rice puddings of your local diners or mom made. They have found a way to make this ultra creamy with a balanced sweetness that doesnt offend...the texture is a mouth feel that first attacks your senses, then, you get hit with the flavor you chose. In my case Man Made Marscapone, I was reeling from the decadence, then I got the sour cherry, a real bing cherry that burst in my mouth! The cherry is complimented with the deep ceeaminess of the pudding while the rice is so perfect in texture, its designed to hold the creaminess together. You cant help yourself from wanting to eat the whole thing! You need to experience Rice To Riches and if you're like me, you'll send a most unique birthday or anniversary or whatever celebration there is to send one or two of these puddings to someone. Please tryvit! You can thank me later! Regards!
