Review Her Name Is Han - New York City

Randomly decided to give this place a try and WOW i'm glad we did. Simple lunch menu but the multiple side dishes really make up the whole meal and experience. Everything was simple yet so good, the restaurant is self is small and cozy and the waitresses/ waiters were very nice and attentive. I got the Pork Belly (which I heard that they were really good here) Salted Mackerel and the Corn Croquettes. I absolutely love this place I wish they had a store here in Toronto!

I knew this place from running by from Instagram and it did really good. Amazing taste with a touch of sophisticated details that they put an effort on the dish. I haven’t ordered slow cook pork belly but I saw from others table and it look so yummy. Lunch set come with a proper portion for one person to get full. Staffs service is amazing. Highly recommended to make a reservation even me I came around 1pm, it is still crowded.

PSA: Raw marinated crabs are NOT served during Saturday and Sunday brunch soooo do not do what I did and come on a weekend during lunch hours expecting to finally try their crabs. Ended up ordering their Korean Fried Chicken, Mini Budae Hot Pot, and Baby Octopus Pasta. The fried chicken was mid. Not worth it. Nothing special. Tasted like unseasoned chicken battered in cornstarch. The sweet and sour sauce couldn’t even save it because it wasn’t that appealing either. Pickled radish didn’t even taste pickled. Just crunchy bland radish. Save your money and do not order that as an appetizer. The entrees were worth it though. It came with decent amounts of banchan and serving sizes of the main dishes were relatively decent. The baby octopus pasta was definitely more delicious than the budae because to be honest, you can make budae with items you most likely already have in your kitchen (ham, spam, rice cakes, ramen, beans, etc.), but who has octopus in their freezer/fridge? And who has the time to clean octopus to cook it??? So I highly recommend the baby octopus pasta because it’s different and not something you can easily whip up in the kitchen unless you have access to stuff like that. Lastly, I really like the style of this restaurant. You can tell they have a niche for reuse and recycle. I like the old-fashion type of decor especially the light fixtures and the kitchen appliance appearance on the front of the counter by the kitchen. I also like how they have hooks on the wall by the seats so you can hang your jacket/bags as seen in one of my pictures. I hung my denim jacket and purse. I appreciate that they try to make the most out of their limit dining area so the addition of those hooks for their customers’ accommodations is awesome! When I come back to visit NYC, I plan to return to this place because I really want to try their raw marinated crabs! Service was also great. We made reservations so getting a table was easy, and our server was attentive throughout our dining experience. Thank you, Noah, for taking care of us!

There was a 30 min wait on a Wed night. But it's totally worth it. Their food is outstanding. We had tofu as a starter and it was like a souffle in texture and with amazing sauce, which turned it in a total delicacy. We also chose pork belly which we couldn't stop eating. And the crispy shrimp pan cake was really good too. Small sides were delicious as well. Kimchi is unforgettable. And I had an old fashioned cocktail which had interesting tubes due to non-traditional soju as the base. Our server was very attentive and thoughtful

They don't offer reservations for brunch, but really manage their wait times well. Four of us walked in on a Sat afternoon around 12:45 and were told that there was a 30 min wait. Their waitlist did accommodate us within that time and we were seated ready to place our order. Noise levels were on the average end and the overall ambiance and setup is on the brighter side with really comfortable seating. I would recommend high chairs for toddlers & youths! They are light on the cocktail menu (all Soju based) but one of us did order the Peach Blossoms ($13) and Mint Garden ($14) the latter being the better one. They also had a Devils' Path IPA on draught which we enjoyed. For food, you cannot go wrong ordering their amazing Fried Cod ($15), Han Dumpling ($10) and a very delicious Tofu dish - Black Sesame Tofu ($11) even if it was a cold starter. Their portion sizes are generous and keeping that in mind we shared two mains between three adults which included Yuzu Chicken Noodle Soup ($20) and an extremely tasty Veggie BBQ ($21) entree - which interestingly came with eggs and a beef side (which I thought was amusing)! Service was quick and food arrived within 25 minutes of ordering. They are very particular about their closing times and we were denied a beer after they announced their last call. Totally understand and appreciate that (not complaining)! Will definitely visit again.

Came with a few friends, had a great time! The pork belly was very yummy and soft, amazing texture! Side dishes were also very tasty!! The seafood pancake was also good and had a nice crispiness to it. Also enjoyed the seafood soup. Overall everything was very tasty and comforting, would definitely come back and recommend to anyone

On a recent spontaneous trip to New York to catch a Sunday performance, I found myself at 'Her Name is Han' in K-Town, eager for some comfort food. Although they were serving their brunch menu, it seemed perfect for my cravings. I began with a terra beer and selected a few small plates. The fried cod accompanied by Maesaegi tartar sauce was reminiscent of an Asian twist on fish and chips - absolutely delightful. Their boiled pork dumplings were a succulent treat: soft, juicy, and bursting with flavor. However, the standout dish was the black sesame tofu paired with fried parsnip and beet. The sweet, savory, and nutty sesame flavor complementing the soft tofu was a refreshing experience. Additionally, I opted for a brunch set which included three banchan, soup, salad, deep-fried boiled egg, kimchi, potato salad, and rice. Every side dish was a treat, but the beef bulgogi set truly shone. The fire-grilled, thinly sliced marinated rib eye had the essence of a smashed patty and paired wonderfully with rice, making for a wholesome and comforting meal.

Fantastic Korean comfort food! I went to the restaurant after a few happy hour drinks and needed some comfort food to cleanse my soul. The food did not disappoint. The bibimbap was huge and hit all the right places. The staff was friend and attentive. Highly recommend the place. I will come back for the hot pot as every table has one.

Had such an amazing experience!! We tried the kimchi pancake and the corn and cream croquettes to start. Both were SO good but I was surprised how much I loved the croquettes. We split the fish cake hot pot and it was AMAZING. The broth was sweet but spicy and the seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend!
