The Cochon de lait sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Make sure you get it with coleslaw. Though I lived on the other side of town in Metairie I would often make the 30 minute drive for the sandwich and get at least a pound of Cochon de lait to go for the next day. Also, though not talked about as much, their bread pudding is fabulous and may be the best I had in my 5 years in New Orleans which is really saying something because just about every restaurant serves bread pudding there.
Madly Good. The meat is incredibly tender, and the horseradish and slaw were also nice compliments. It was just as good without the BBQ sauce as with.
The loaf was not typical New Orleans French bread, but it was still awesome. Its worth getting cash and making a drive.
Very Nice. The ribs and potato salad are pretty good damn good with out the sauce but even better with it. The cochon poboy ain't too bad eitehr.
There was only one place within an hour’s drive of NOLA I've ever thought had BBQ worthy of actual paying for since mine is shizznit. Now there's two. The rest of the "BBQ" in this city is just overpriced bland-ass grilled meat with lame sauces and sides. I can't even call that fakery BBQ it doesn't taste like anything but liquid smoke. As far as the CASH only dilemma...get over yourself. If you don't like it go get a f#@king McRibb, I heard they take cards.
Cochon de lait po boy is one of the best things you will ever eat. As for the bad reviews, the csdh only issue exists at many local joints and for the two others what is wrong with your taste buds you probably frequent chains and have no clue what good food is
Awesome BBQ, well worth the trip. Good portion size, I recommended getting the mixed platter. See my pic.
Awesome. Cajun bbq at its best!! Luv this place!!

A little confusing when you walk in as to where to order but once u figure it out, yum. Pork po boy was great and the slaw on top was great too.
Pig Heaven. I see why this place is so popular; the cochon de lait is swinetastic. Large, super tender pork topped with coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Also got a side of the greens and they were excellent with a healthy chunk o' pork nestled in the greeny goodness adding mega flavor. Lady that works there is nice, too.
NO's Very Best BBQ!. I typically get the half-chicken dinner or the two-meat combo here. The cochon de lait po-boy I had last time was excellent, sloppy... but excellent! The bread pudding with whisky sauce was great, heated in their microwave for a couple of minutes. The guys at work first introduced me to this place a few years ago, and Walker's must be doing something right, because when people find out I'm headed there, I get bogged down with more orders than I can carry! The ordering area is small and cramped at lunch time, but makes up for it with a nice dining area.
Not much good eating in NOLA East compared to other neighborhoods. But this place is an exception. T-F 10:30-2pm, sat 10:30-6pm. cash only. amazing couchon du lait po boys (famous at JazzFest). 08.
Went to Walker's, for the first-time in a good-while, on Saturday. The walk-up window and ordering-process are new to me, BUT, the ribs are still great and the potato-salad is incredible!
Do yourself a favor and get the center-cut ribs!
I will make a point to get out that way more often, at-least bi-weekly!
The ribs are very good & falling off the bone 😋 the greens and potatoes salad needs more seasoning, but other than that I enjoyed my plate.
By far one of the best BBQ places we tried on our trip to the south of the US. We arrived almost at closing time (2pm) but they were very friendly and accommodating with our order, even though it was last min. The Cochin de lait (pork) poboy was excellent and the brisket burnt ends was probably the best we had in a long time! All was served promptly and there was some outdoor sitting to enjoy the food. They gave us some free samples of the smoked chicken salad as well, which was delicious. The staff was super nice and even recommended us some places to visit in New Orleans. Is everything you will expect from a southern bbq experience, great food and even better people.
We stopped for lunch & ordered 2 Cochon de last (pork) poboy's with slaw & peach cobbler. The pork was moist, tender & tasty the slaw was a great balance with being a little sweet & definitely get it on the French roll. The peach cobbler was sweet & had plenty of flakey crust.
Boy we lucked out they are only open until 3 pm or till they run out on Thursdays and Fridays & today is Thursday. We got there around 1:40 pm & they closed at 2:10 pm. So get there early. They were so friendly & helpful as we stumble through are order.
Let me start by telling you that we woke up extremely early and waited for them to open so we could get our BBQ. This place make other BBQ restaurant look like a joke. Their BBQ is to die for, they literally sell out all their food by 1:00-2:00PM. You always get fresh food! The BBQ sauce, oh my, oh my! I feel like driving back to NOLA to get me some. You need to wake up early to catch them, because they’re not going to stay open once they sell out their food, and they sell out pretty fast. What are you waiting for? Nom-nom-nom!
Came here while visiting new orleans and I'm so glad I did! Me and my family got 3 different poboys and oh my were they good! Super friendly staff. They have picnic tables around the side which we sat and ate at. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!!
I had the best ever Cochon du lait poboy at French Quarter Festival 2023. It was recommended, so I found the tent and ordered. I didn’t notice which restaurant it came from at the time so googled it the next day..that is how good it was. Best poboy or sandwich I have ever had. Walkers BBQ is the best ever!!!!!
Great BBQ couldn't try their brisket but chicken and ribs were good
Food and service always on point. As a local, it's good to go to a place that's authentic NOLA. right off of the lake and up the road from the lake front. Even on a hot summer, there's a cool breeze from the lake. Dopest...
I had the famous pork po boy and it was okay. Everything tasted fresh
