St. Charles Tavern

This place is a diamond in the rough. The food was AMAZING even at 1am. My husband got a breakfast plate with chicken and andoullie hash with eggs. We both had their DELICIOUS Gumbo and I had a Muffaletta sandwich which was uniquely different than most but in a Very good way.. My old fashioned was just how I like it as well. You will not regret eating and having a good drink there.

Yes this is a local "Dive" bar. Very clean and very simple. Most times it is filled with locals, if you quiet however go early in the afternoon. We showed up and were the only ones (other than staff) there. That however quickly changed. One of the two cooks greeted us and was very nice and funny. The waitress was the only other person there and also was running the bar. She was patient and very nice, giving us good suggestions for drink specials and food, both which were excellent. My Only reason for 4 stars it regarding a staff member that showed up a little later to hang out. I guess he thought he was funny and wanted to "shock" us by playing some hard rock on the jukebox. That didn't happen, he looked a little disappointed and our waitress looked like she wanted to kill him. lol Oh, and probably the best shrimp Po-boy I have eaten in a long time. The crab cakes were delicious as well.
