Highland Street Cafe appears to be a house converted into a restaurant. It is a solid choice for homemade breakfast, offering traditional fluffy and delicious pancakes, omelettes, grits and breakfast burritos.
We were seated immediately on a Friday morning, and our server was prompt and polite. Food came out quickly and the coffee was fresh.
I got a breakfast sandwich with sausage on a biscuit. Although it wasn't bad - I'd recommend getting that on bread if I came back. The biscuit was so fluffy and soft, it probably wasn't meant to hold heavy, greasy sausage in between it. It surprisingly held together alright but toast would still have been a better option here.
I think my husband's pancakes were the winner of our meal today. So, I'd recommend the pancake breakfast to someone visiting.
I absolutely loved this diner! We stumbled on in on a day trip to Mount Dora, and I am so glad we decided to go in. First things first - I loved the homey feel of the restaurant and all of the dog themed decorations! We were sat at a cozy table almost right away by a friendly host. Our waitress was extremely friendly and recommended some of her favorites. Our food came out quickly and was very good! Will definitely come back our next time in Mount Dora.
Delicious breakfast, fresh and fast! I appreciate perfectly poached eggs and velvety hollandaise on my eggs Benedict! Great home fries and omelette too!
Great breakfast place!
Hot chocolate was delicious, not watered down, great and thick home made whipped cream. In my 14-year-old twins words: “Best hot chocolate we have had in a while”.
The Strawberry stuffed French toast was fried, crispy and delectable! The sweetness of the strawberries, and the buttery goodness of the French toast truly complement each other. 10 out of 10!
Pancakes and hash-browns were perfectly cooked. Hash-browns were crispy. The Trash Spanish breakfast plate very flavorful as well.
A must if you are in the Mount Dora area!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Highland Street Cafe for breakfast, and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the delicious breakfast options they have to offer. From fluffy pancakes to perfectly cooked eggs, every dish was bursting with flavor and made my taste buds sing with joy.
Apart from the scrumptious food, the staff at Highland Street Cafe truly stood out. Friendly, attentive, and accommodating, they made me feel welcomed and ensured that my dining experience was top-notch. Whether it was taking my order or offering recommendations, their exceptional service added an extra layer of enjoyment to my meal.
However, I will mention that the only downside I noticed was the cramped atmosphere. The cafe seemed to have limited space, which could make it feel a bit crowded at times. While this didn't diminish the quality of the food or service, it did slightly impact the overall ambiance.
Overall, I highly recommend Highland Street Cafe for breakfast lovers. The mouthwatering dishes, along with the incredible staff, make it a breakfast destination worth visiting. Just be prepared for a cozier setting.
I loved this place! Food was fresh and amazing ! Service was friendly and sharp with our order and suggestions
I got the cheese and spinach quiche and my mom got the Greek omelet, the menu is pretty large. The theme of the restaurant is the cutest of highland terriers giving the it's name. The best breakfast of central Florida served all day totally recommend it
Best breakfast I’ve ever had! Wonderful service and food. The atmosphere is great
And cozy. We are visiting in the area and stopped in to try it and it did not disappoint! This is a must go for breakfast locally!
Food here is delicious and cooked just the way you order. Service is fast and friendly. We don't eat PORK of any sort and this place is the only one in town that had Turkey bacon (which is our alternative) .... two thumbs up on that alone! The restaurant is small but quaint. They do get a b it busy on the weekends but the wait time go's fast. We went back two days in row because they have the best breakfast in town.
Best grits in town. Our party got 4 different menu options and were all pleased with the food and service.
Very busy and a bit of a wait for a table, but once we sat down… was remarkably efficient. Coffee never ran out. Attentive service from at least 3 servers. Lovely flowers outside.
Always a great experience at Highland Cafe. Typical busy Saturday morning, line was out the door and parking can be a bit of an issue. Mushroom cheese omelet was fantastic, hash browns and bacon were cooked perfectly, sausage gravy was excellent. Pancakes here are not my favorite, good but not awesome. Definitely recommend the Big Breakfast or an omelet.
Service staff is always friendly.
REV Last couple of visits, extremely slow service and not hot food. Downgraded from 5 to 4 stars.
