Thirsty Whale was who we ended up picking for our wedding cake! They’re located just 2 miles from our home, and 2 miles from the venue we picked, so the location was perfectly in the middle. Their donuts are amazing and a big factor in why we thought of them. Their pricing is extremely fair, they were one of the most affordable options we came across.
We used another bakery for other desserts at the wedding, so unfortunately thirsty whale would not deliver the cake, but there were no issues there. They recommended we keep it flat on the ground in the car and just be conscious of how we were driving. We got it there in perfect condition (but it seemed like the longest 5 minutes of my life haha).
They followed our cake inspiration to a T, it was absolutely gorgeous, and it of course tasted phenomenal. The tasting box we got back in April was perfect as well. We’re both so glad they got a second chance at staying open as we love stopping here.

Thirsty Whale delivered the most amazing cutting cake and cheesecake shooters for my wedding! They were beautiful, affordable, and (most importantly) delicious. Thirsty Whale worked with my wife and I to make sure the cake had rainbow layers and edible glitter and to create a rainbow with different fruit toppings on the cheesecake shooters. It all created the most perfect Pride weekend effect. Thanks for making the wedding dessert unforgettable!

Thirsty Whale Bakery knocked it out of the park with my cake! They were so accommodating to my ideas and gave me quotes on all the different cakes I had in mind. Plus it was absolutely delicious! Also, their cheesecake shooters and cupcakes were a big hit that we didn’t have any leftover from the wedding. We got so many compliments on it! I only rated 4/5 because the day we were suppose to pick up our tasting box there was a slip up and they didn’t have it ready so it made me concerned about them forgetting my order day of wedding. Then their hours are quite odd so sometimes it takes a while to hear back from them especially if you want a follow up on something. Day of wedding they killed it and their prices are quite good for what you’re ordering too!
Before trying out Thirsty Whale, I didn’t know of a premier specialty cake bakery in the Twin Cities; now I definitely know to go to Thirsty Whale. They were so accommodating with our last-minute (under two weeks) request, could print images on edible paper, and though our cake was complicated to describe, they totally nailed it. They were so nice when we picked it up too, expressing their condolences for the deceased. A must for all your specialty cake needs!
Wow - we had the most amazing wedding cake from Thirsty Whale. They were easy to work with and have the most delicious cakes. They also do an awesome tasting kit so you can choose your favorite flavors. We go to Thirsty Whale for all our bakery and cake needs now, and look forward to ordering more cakes from them in the future!
First heard of this place from watching Halloween Bake Off.. Megan Baker is my favorite contestant & I was so excited to get a cake from her shop. This cake did not disappoint it was AMAZING!! Can't wait to go back and try some donuts!
This bakery absolutely crushed it! I had my sights set on ice cream cone styled cake pops, and so many other bakeries said they couldn’t do it. Out of the many custom cakes I’ve ordered over the years, this place created my favorite! Thirsty Whale did our wedding cakes and I would highly recommend them for both special events and your everyday bake-good needs! We wanted to have our "cats" at the wedding through cakes and they turned out better than we could imagine. People were amazed how real they looked! Absolutely loved the cakes and they were a huge hit!
Can't say enough good stuff about these folks! They made absolutely delicious cakes for our Dad's 70th birthday. Their cakes were moist and had just the right amount of sweetness (not the sickly stuff you'd get from a grocery store). You also can definitely tell that they used real butter in the frosting. We gave them pretty limited details for our theme (the movies) and they ran with it in all the best ways. Their out-of-this-world design had creative details that made the cakes really special (70 in the ticket number, popcorn shaped icing!). We were also really impressed with their customer service. Would order from them again in a heartbeat.

We hired The Thirsty Whale to make our wedding cake, and everything went great! Our cake-trial package was fun and tasty, and the final product looked great and was delicious. Even if you're not normally into cream cheese icing, try their cream cheese icing--it was *extremely* good. The only "problem" was that so many of our wedding guests loved the cake and went back for seconds, that we didn't have any leftovers! Overall we'd highly recommend them.
