We come for the Juicy Lucy's, worth it. All the food that I have had here has been delicious. Cheese curds are tasty. The french fries are crispy and the perfect fry texture. The atmosphere is laid back. It is a clean restaurant. The bathroom was clean and had hot water at the sinks. Servers were friendly and down to earth. The menu is smaller. They seem to focus on items that they really make well.
Juicy Lucy. Enough said! Every single bite was scrumptious! We wanted great, local flavors and this food did not disappoint. I almost forgot my pics we dove in so fast! The Juicy Lucy, cheese curds, the wings, all fantastic bites! And the service was 5 stars. This place is definitely a gem, kinda tucked in a neighborhood. The local diners know they have a treasure and I'm so glad we found this one!
Our party got the California burger (with cheese and an impossible patty), the roadhouse with sweet potato fries, and the classic with pepperjack cheese, fried onions and fries. The atmosphere was pleasant with quick service. The food was good, but fairly one-note.
We were supposed to be here for a party but I confused the times so we just decided to eat ourselves.
The place was pretty much open for seating on a Saturday afternoon. The food was very good. I loved the fries, so nice and crispy.
This was our first try here and the juicy Lucy didn’t disappoint. Though I did expect more cheese than there was.
They had deep fried mushrooms so that is also a big bonus with me. I just love them!
We would go back the next time our group chooses to.
Brought our relatives from out of state to have some authentic Juicy Lucy burgers. We all raved about how good they were! Fries were nice and crisp on the outside and tender inside. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. Would give this place 10 stars if I could!
I came to try their Juicy Lucy and I had with blue cheese, which was good. Honestly, I was there for the deep-fried cheese curds, which it did not disappoint trying it with the marinara gave another level of taste.
Was staying near MSP Airport and remembered seeing one of those Food Network shows about best things to eat in Minneapolis and the Juicy Lucy. Did a quick Google search and saw the 5-8 Club was close by and decided to check it out. Ordered wings, which were big, meaty and juicy, and had them coated in their special BBQ, Buffalo sauce, which had a nice taste to it. Ordered the Montana Jack, which was really good, but there is a decent amount of blue cheese in it, so if you don't like blue cheese, beware. Ordered the sweet potato fries with the marshmallow sauce, which was awesome.
Even better was the service! Weirdly, for a Saturday, it wasn't too busy (there was a Twins game and Golden Gophers game going on). There was one woman running the front of the house and she did a great job serving. Feel bad I can't remember her name but if the owners see this, I was there the night of 9/9, so you should know who she is. Food came out in a timely manner too, so kudos to the Kitchen team as well!
Whenever I’m in town, this restaurant is a must! As we were on our road trip through the Midwest, we stopped by the 5-8 for their wonderful Juicy Lucy. We started with the cheese curds, so close to Wisconsin how can you go wrong? They’re outstanding here. We also upgraded to jojos from fries, which I also recommend doing. Jojos are potato wedges that are so good! The only downside to this visit was the 2 tables behind us with kids jumping all over the place and yelling the time. It’s a one off, but ruined the experience.
First time eating a Juicy Lucy and you know we had to go to the home of the original. The cheese on the inside of the burger is a nice touch. The place was packed and we didn’t have to wait that long. They have a solid tap line up. I bet they serve up a lot of burgers each day. Maybe next time I go back I’ll try the PB & J burger.
Our GO-To for Juicy Lucy burger ( sorry Matt's Bar). The wings are great and good beer on tap
