Surdyk's Cheese Shop

I have loved Surdyks for decades. Big selection. They have wine experts on staff that give the best wine advice of any Twin Cities place I've shopped at...and I've been buying wine for 35+ years. The cheese shop has been fabulous for years. Now they also have a great sidebar that serves well made drinks and good food. The staff is always helpful and friendly too. Even their cashiers are fun. For example I recently enjoyed chatting with Dharma, a new friendly cashier.

Selection of unique and hard to find beer is unmatched (only place in the state that had or could get what I was looking for). Overall it’s expensive, but that might just be the location and everything around there is more. Wish they were able to ship locally so I didn’t have to drive all the way into downtown the Saturday before Christmas just to pick up 8 cans of beer.

This place has everything gourmet... Alcohol of all types, cured meats, cheeses, delicacies and a staff with expertise to match their selection. I look forward to my visits to the Twin Cities in no small part because I always make time to stop by. I'm also a huge fan of the restaurant, which we recently tried for the first time! The service, as expected, was excellent, and the food enjoyable in the extreme.

I frickin’ love this place. They have so much good wine, liquor, and beer to check out, but it’s not overwhelming or warehouse-feeling like a Total Wine. Employees are knowledgeable and friendly, plus they have excellent tastings on weekends! The attached deli/cheese shop is expensive, but has lots of good treats for a special occasion. Their cheese is delicious, and they have fresh bakery bread if you get there early enough.

Surdyk’s is one of our favorite family-owned businesses! It is the go-to liquor store in the Twin Cities and is a Northeast fixture. Surdyk’s is the only stop you need to make for beer, liquor, wine and cheese. Their staff is very knowledgeable and are always willing to help. They enjoy teaching you about their many options and pointing you in the right direction. The cheese shop is amazing with a large supply of the best cheeses at the best price. Surdyk’s has tons of terrific sides, salads, dips, gifts and other food items that are hard to find anywhere else. Their large parking lot also makes it easy to get in and out. My wife and I love this place!

What can I say, when I started legally drinking back 30 years ago, this was still a go-to Liquor store in the Twin Cities. There are very few places that take selection, display, quality and affordability all at the same time. They are cover everything better than almost everyone else, they cover wine, better and deeper than anyone else I have seen in town. France 44 being the next closest best wine shop I know of. This is a NE fixture and I do not see it going away. examples of it's age and history, a coveted and rare parking lot. And I mean rare, look around. The cheese shop is amazing and my closest amazing supply of amazing cheese a thing that I will indulge in periodically. There are people who eat cheese and people who savor it. This is a cheese shop for the later. The next best thing is the cheese shop on Grand and Lake in Uptown. But this one is one of the very best in town. Recommend this for all your liquor and cheese needs. As for wine this is one of the better trained staff in helping you. The family name behind the signage is still alive and well in blood and life long practice in running the best of the best in Liquor stores.
