If you are craving sushi rolls, be sure to visit Misawa. Located in Bardstown Road, the family-owned restaurant offers quality sushi rolls at a reasonable price. As you enter the place you can definitely feel the unique and modern ambience of the restaurant. Unlike its competitors, Misawa positions itself to be a contemporary and upscale, yet still casual, American-Japanese restaurant. My go-to sushi order is the Miss Veedol roll. It has a generous serving of spicy crab and tempura, then topped with salmon and drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo. The flavors work so well together. Our server Joanna also recommended the Derby roll, and I ended up loving the dish too! The seared scallop is the perfect addition to the roll, as the smokey taste from the seared side of the scallop complemented the delicate freshness of the scallop and shrimp. For the third roll, we decided to try a deep-fried roll. Their Sunday Morning roll is a spin on the staple deep-fried sushi roll-- it still has cream cheese, but with salmon replacing the usual spicy crab inside. For dessert, the sweet staff greeted my husband Happy Birthday with an equally beautiful and scrumptious tempura cheesecake! For date night, family lunch, catch up with friends, and anything in between-- go ahead and visit this place. Misawa definitely has our heart.

Delicious food and excellent service! Their sushi is phenomenal. I personally prefer it over Sake Blue and Saporro. Rich flavors, great servings (sushi), beautiful presentation. Ramen is delicious and the fried cheesecake was absolutely amazing. Kind servers, great vibe, and they made my brother (and by extension, us) feel special on his birthday celebration. Highly recommend!

For my partner's birthday, we decided to try here. What a hidden gem! I am so glad we found this place. While there is no open hibachi, it actually lends to the quiet and very relaxing atmosphere this place provides. The staff was wonderful. Our server, Kris, was so friendly and was one of the best servers I have ever had. When we mentioned my partner's birthday, we did not expect anything special or to be treated any other way but just like normal customers. Holy cow, was I wrong! They played music, and brought out a delicious tempura cheesecake! We were so overwhelmed with joy! Not only was the food amazing, the service was wonderful, and we left with full bellies and smiles. Thank you Kris and the staff of Misawa for making this day wonderful! ❤️ Can't wait to have dinner again there!

We arrived during the 7PM dinner rush, and had a 25 to 30 minute wait. There isn't a waiting area in, so we opted to wait in the car after giving out name and ph #. Honestly, it was worth the wait. I've been craving Ramen for weeks, and my bowl of tonkotsu ramen. The spicy sauce on the side added that extra kick I love in my broth. Loved the texture of the fried calamari, but wish it had a bit more salt or flavor. Can't wait to go back and try the rolls. I think my partner and I may become regulars.

There are a lot to choose from the menu and being that we love Japanese food we wanted to try as much as we can from the variety that they had. I got tuna and salmon sashimi, salmon roll and veggie tempura. The sashimi was good. I could taste the buttery flavor of the salmon and the firmness of the tuna. The slices were thicker than usual which I liked. The salmon roll was good, not too much rice. I loved the veggie tempura. The crunchy batter was just right and not oily at all. My son got the miso tonkatsu ramen. The serving is big and may be enough to be shared by 2 people. The noodles was firm and the soup was tasty and not salty at all. We also got the Volcano and Cardinal rolls. These were plated differently than I am used to and that is good and creative in my opinion. The servings were big portions . The toppings were tasty. Only thing is that you should finish it right away as the topping may get the sushi a little soggy if you let it sit for awhile (which did not happen to us since we finished it a few minutes after it was served) The price of the food is also very reasonable. The place is clean, not too big yet very cozy and the staff are very nice. We came on a weekday a little after the lunch hour rush so we got seated as soon as we got there but I heard that the place can get very busy at times. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back when we are in the area again.

Got the Shashimi and Nigiri combo with a spicy tuna roll. Was very good! Wait time was super short and my waiter was very nice.

Small but mighty are the words I would use to describe this place. Went the week of Christmas and then kept coming back. Every dish we have tried is delicious 😋 and flavorful. The service is great and fast. It is a small place, so plan accordingly.

I had just finished a rather strenuous workout; famished and craving sushi. I didn't need the 'fun house' down the road, I just wanted good food. I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately. I chose the chicken & shrimp hibachi, Miso and the 20 piece sashimi. The Miso was hearty and flavorful. The salad was standard, but still enjoyable. The chicken was tender. The shrimp and vegetables were accompanied in a savory sauce. The sashimi was fresh and very pleasant. I was able to enjoy the pieces with no soy sauce to taste the subtle differences. I polished off my rice and decided on 2 different Nigiri: tuna and sweet shrimp. Amazing. The rice was balanced spot on between acidity and sweet. Overall I was very pleased with my meal. The flavor and presentation of the dishes were great. Will return.
