The lack of ambiance could lose a star with me, but the food carries this restaurant to a strong 4 and the extra food and great service on this visit pulled out a 5. My wife and I were first timers tonight after I saw it mentioned a lot on YELP with great reviews. We started with a sample of delicious lentil soup, followed by some wonderful, cold, stuffed, grape leaves with Tzatziki sauce, tasty, smooth hummus, a very tasty, special salad and nice, soft, pita bread. My wife ordered chicken kabobs with rice and salad. I ordered a gyro plate with rice, salad and pita bread. Each of our entrees came with more Tzatziki sauce which was welcome. Our server was Hussein and he treated us very well, adding some other items on the side for us to try since it was our first time. The fries are very good, crispy outside and soft inside. I think the special salad to eat with pita bread was an extra also. I don't know if everyone gets the delightful black tea with sage at the end, but I must needs go back to have more. We both loved it. I haven't tried the baklava yet since I am stuffed right now. We both have some leftovers to snack on tomorrow. I recommend a visit to The Falafel House which reminds me, Hussein gave us a falafel to sample also. It is the BEST falafel we ever had. I can see going back for another visit soon. Parking wasn't great, but we found a place kitty corner from there on Bardstown Road. That is normal for this area. The restaurant isn't large and I could imagine they run out of seating at times. I noticed several takeouts while we were there. I might just get takeout next time myself. Hussein told me they are from Jordan which makes me think they arguably have the best Mediterranean and Middle east food around. Give them a try.
I had the best Greek food here that I've ever eaten. Best Gyro, could have used a bit more cucumber sauce, Humus and ended with a great sample of tea. There was enough food to last me all day, with prices more then reasonable. Service was great. Not much on atmosphere, but that won't keep me from going back on my next Louisville visit. 5+++ stars.
The best gyro I've ever had! The place isn't fancy but is so worth the visit if you want a great gyro. Nothing in town comes close. I've heard the hummus is great but I haven't had it. Can't wait to go back. The spicy sauce on the gyro really makes it amazing.
I really love their hummus. It is wonderful! Also falafel wraps are so good. Feels like places I loved to go when I lived in San Francisco. Hummus alone gives a 5 but they are very hospitable and share soup every time I go there. Thank you.
Where do I start? THIS PLACE IS AWESOME.
This was our first visit here and we were blown away. The gentleman who runs it was also helping cook and he was our server. He was great and very good at his job. He was on his game for sure.
Shortly after sitting down, he brought us some soup. Delish:)
We ordered and he brought us home made pita, hummus and some type of salsa and it was soooooo yummy.
We had the gyro plate and lamb kabobs and they were both amazing. The best we have ever had. Big portions also.
When he brought us the check, he brought us tea.
We are leaving there with two boxes of left overs, a baklava, super full bellies and smiles on our faces.
This place has incredible food and the gentleman that runs it does a great job. The lentil soup cup that you get when you arrive is super yummy. I can't say enough great things about this place. If you are looking for great Mediterranean food AND a vegan friendly restaurant then this is your place.
Love this place! I've never had something I don't like but the hummus, lentil soup, falafel, and chicken gyro are a few favorites. The sage tea is also amazing, especially on a cold night. Quick service and delicious food every time!
This place is amazing! The portions are wonderful and the prices are amazing for the food you get! I would highly recommend the falafel, which is out of this world delicious and the Baklava!

Good minusmy dislike for falafel as of today. I have a unique circumstance, My sister met the chef there and mom and sis were there tonight. I got my meals for free and they were good, minus my new found dislike for falafel (never had it and wanted to try it, it was decent but I do not like it much at all as just per my taste and others may love it) . The Gyros were great and I would rate it up at the top of what I have had, the beef Shawarma was also really good along with the baklava (but I would add just a hint of lemon or orange zest to kick it up a little if I were to make it) . The baklava is nearly worth the hour drive alone, but as i know how to make it I can make it to my exact taste (no offense on it chef it was great, just think it needs a "pop" to make it even better IMO). The "relish" was really great and the hummus was good too. Do not take it as bad whoever you are, the food is enjoyable and like everyone else I have unique taste and even though the falafel was not precisely to my taste I ate the whole thing out of respect and the addition of the dip. If I lived closer I would be a regular at the establishment and if I have a serious craving for Gyros, you can expect to see me there. Overall I would rate this place as a 5 out of 5, just I have a unique taste and love strong flavors others may consider overpowering
Awesome Food. My wife and I recently visited The Falafel House which recently has new ownership. The food was terrific! We started off with a complimentary taste of their lentil soup which was very very good. My wife could have made a meal on just the soup. We shared the chef's special kabobs which came with a skewer of chicken, lamb and Kufta, rice, mediterranean salad, grilled veggies and bread. We also sampled the hummus and babaghannouj. Everything had a wonderful flavor and we had more than enough for 3 people. The service was excellent and the staff was as good as they come. Price was very reasonable especially for the quality of food and service.
These guys have the best falafel we’ve ever had. We liked their food so much we had them cater a party we were hosting. Everyone loved the food, it’s very reasonably priced and everything was ready on time, hot and fresh. I highly recommend.
In the heart of the Highlands, this inexpensive but delicious place is a hidden gem! Anyone who has visited the Middle East will appreciate the hummus. - it's fresh and authentic. Can't wait to return!
In the year that I lived in Louisville, The Falafel House was the 1 spot in the city that I knew I could consistently get an absolutely delicious and filling meal. The guys who run the restaurant work hard. It’s always the same guys throughout the whole day. No matter when I order, lunch or dinner, I know my go to Atomic Falafel plus Lentil Soup order is going to be good because the cook is always the same. Orders come out quickly and the prices are unbelievably reasonable for the area. You would end up spending 2-3x more on Bardstown Rd for anything as filling.
The place is amazing. I have been eating here for more than 2 years and they have never disappointed. The owner is really friendly and caters to all the specifications you ask for. THEY HAVE THE BEST FALAFEL IN THE WORLD.
In Louisville and HAD to stop at Falafel House. I have lived in many large cities across America and I have NEVER had better hummus. Drove from Danville for it!!! Thanks you Falafel House...your service is as good as your food!!! Every time I have been, you have been generous and welcoming!!! Worth a drive from ANYWHERE!!!
1st time we are stopping by and after a long ride from Chicago. The food and customer service is 10/10. If it happened we are in the area, we know where to stop for rest, good food and service.
They have the best hummus and staff in town. Seriously the food is good and the attitude these guys have makes them the rockstars of this food genre. We stopped on a whim and definitely will be back for more.

We stoped few minutes only for buying a snack, fortunately in all the choices they have in the menu, we found some falafels to take away and easy to eat on the way. Those falafels were delicious! and the best that I have tried ever. The prices are very convenient and the staff is friendly
