They have good bread, and pretty much everything else is good too.. I found out about this place from a Russian lady I used to work with, she was never really comfortable shopping in supermarkets. She once said, "They have so many kinds of bread, how do know which good bread? I like Jasmin bakery, THEY have good bread." It took me a while to try it out. I'm a typical suburbanite, I get everything at the supermarket, stopping again just for bread? Well, this place has made me a convert of the concept.
This place is a bit quirky, but clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. Some of the staff are not fluent in English, but they will try to do you right. And what they always do right is the food. This place is basically a bakery, with four kinds of bread, two kinds of white, wheat and a french style baguette. All loafs of bread are fresh with no preservatives and cost $2.50. They also have rolls, turnovers, and some of the best croissant's you'll ever find. I'm partial to the bitter sweet chocolate filled one. My wife, she favors the cheese filled.
Beyond the baked goods, they also serve fresh coffee and sandwiches. There is no menu I can find, you ask for a sandwich and they bring you a yummy Gyros meat filled roll, with fresh crispy lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki like sauce. I thought I enjoyed Gyros on a slab of pita, then I had it on a tasty chewy fresh baked roll here. A significant upgrade of a great thing if you ask me. If you don't want coffee, they have a small collection of bottled beverages.
The place is only open till 6PM Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays. Breads and pastries are available till they run out. And if you get there early enough, you get to smell the bread baking in the back. Which is a great way to start off your day. They also have a couple of shelves of imported Eastern European goodies you might want to try if you are feeling adventurous.
I rated this place as a like. However, it's not one of those places you are going to cruise into and get a quick lunch. If you call in that is best for food. It was very good. Breads were right. All meats seemed to be lamb and beef mix. I liked it but it's not everybody's thing. Method of ordering wasn't really clear since there is no menu and it's order from a line. Talk to somebody in line and they will steer you right.
Super nice!. Great, cheap bread and friendly workers who are always throwing in freebies.
They have moved--as great as ever though. Jasmin Bakery is now located at 2205 Steier Lane, just a short distance from the old location. They are as wonderful as ever...even more so now, in a brand-new building. Prices still very low, bread still wonderful. Same service with a smile.
One of the best places in town ! Cant get better then this !
Holy WOW!! we split a large gyro and got a small to go! I also had a had a turnover apple.. it was flaky and warm and amazing not alot of selection but u don't even notice
This is the most amazing sandwich Ive ever eaten. And it certainly doesn't break the bank.
I adore this bakery. The place smells like freshly baked bread all of the time. White and whole wheat loaves are $2.50 apiece. The baklava was excellent until the last time I was there, when citrus slices were used. This may be a personal preference though. The rolls (30-60cents each) are chewy yet airy. The owners are incredibly nice and I have also received freebies on occasion. The gyro was good, with the best part being the pita.
Best Bakery Ever!!!. These folks are so nice, they'll even toss you some extras for no charge. Their bread is always fresh and lovely. You can't get any better in Louisville. Right next to a Mediterranean restaurant and store. You won't regret it!
Yummy gyro. It's a good sized portion for 8 bucks. Unconventional, but exceptionally good bread instead of pita baked from scratch in store every day. Clean, updated dining area. They also have some Eastern European treats on the shelf to take with.
Food and coffee was great. I liked the chocolate Croissant as well
We have a Bosnian family friend who recommended this place, and I can see why. This place is delicious, the food is well priced, and they have plenty of foreign candies and sodas. If you like Kinder Eggs with the spread inside, you can buy that stuff by the tub full here! (It's called Eurocrem)
Love this cafe. The coffee and food are excellent. I haven't had a single thing here I didn't like. The atmosphere is quaint - a good place to pass time quietly alone or spend time with friends having a good time jabbering away. We try to come back every few weeks.
There’s got to be an extra loaf lying around here somewhere! The lady before me got the last loaf of the day, for only three dollars, but the owner/proprietor located another bagged bread unshelved lying on a nearby scale. Very satisfied with my visit, and will come again.
Super cool little hidden gem. The best Gyro I have ever had. The bread is super fresh and delicious. They have a nice selection of drinks and snacks from around the world also. Would definitely recommend stopping in for lunch. Owner was very friendly and the food is incredible.
Delicious, authentic food. Need to improve ordering process as customers don’t really know where to stand/wait. Also, the wait time can be slightly long if they are crowded, but nothing ridiculous. Overall great place for tasty, inexpensive food. Their gyro meat is amazing!
Balcans come to Louisville.
It is a bakery, but you can also sit and have lunch. Nice cevapcici sauce, burek, all managed by a witty and welcoming Bosnian owner.
Honest price (15 20 dollars), take away food if you like.
First time here and the food and atmosphere is awesome. My son and I had the Cevapi and it is delicious. You can definitely tell everything is homemade and made with care and love. If you’re anywhere near this place stop in. You won’t be disappointed.
Great pastries and bread! I have been visiting this place for years - even before they moved to the current location. The gyro and sausage sandwiches are awesome, and they definitely put together a high octane espresso.
The big secret is the pastries. They generally run out before lunch is over, so get there early.
