We loved dining at the English Grill! The Hot Browns were delicious and are definitely a must when dining here. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs and even went out of their way to have a handwritten note for my wife that I had requested through my OpenTable reservation. Thank you to all who made our night extra special at the English Grill!
My mom and I had a wonderful experience at The Brown for lunch today. Our food was amazing but the service was outstanding. Yasser, our server was great and provided us plenty of history of the hotel. The farmers salad was my favorite salad I had ever tasted. The hot brown and Derby pie were also phenomenal. Totally recommend going to The Brown for a great experience. Thank you for the great service Yasser!
It’s worth every penny. Between the service and the history lesson this place is 5 stars. If you add the fantastic food, it’s 10 stars. This place is to die for! I will be back very soon, this is one of my new favorite downtown restaurants.
Came here after learning about The Hot Brown, my experience was even better than expected, the food and service were excellent. Definitely a must-try place if you're in Louisville. Food and dessert were $40, worth every penny
There are pretenders to the Hot Brown. This ain't one of 'em! This is the birthplace of this iconic dish, and at 90+ years of age, it is still going strong! Our two guests had had pretender HBs before, but all four of us will never go for anything less than the real thing from now on!
I regret not taking a photo of the Hot Brown, but I'll show you photos of the lobster bisque and crab cake appetizers, both of which were excellent. As you can see, the dishes were also visually appealing.
Rob E and Harold were very attentive, providing excellent, informative, and entertaining service. It was an outstanding evening and we will certainly return!
What a great experience at the English Grill. You can eat dinner at plenty of "old school" Louisville restaurants, but what makes an experience is the staff. Kelly A. our waiter was excellent. Very attentive and easy to talk with. He knew exactly when to come and chat and when to give us some time to eat and enjoy the ambiance. He knew the history of the hotel and had several interesting stories. Arnold, for lack of a better term, "table attendant" was excellent. He has been at the restaurant for over 25 years. I appreciated his dedication and his pleasant service.
We had the lobster bisque which was excellent, the catch of the day which was sea bass (cooked perfectly) with risotto and I added the lobster tail. We had shrimp & grits as an app and it was excellent. My wife had the filet with asparagus and she really enjoyed it. I highly recommend the restaurant. Thank you Kelly, thank you Arnold. Thank you chef. I hope everyone has the opportunity to have such a nice experience.
Delicious comfort food. I didn't e enough get the full size and it was more than enough. Was so nice to try a piece of Louisville, KY history
Can't really describe the great time we had doing the Chef's table. It was such a great experience from the fantastic menu they developed for us, wine pairings and just seeing how they operate!!! I can't recommend this experience enough they really do a phenomenal job and look forward to doing it again sometime but will be back definitely!!
An elegant upscale restaurant in a historic hotel. I had a salmon Caesar for dinner. It was exceptional. My wife and I shared a brown derby for dessert that didn't disappoint.
