Upscale downtown dining right between the Brown and Palace Theaters, the food is excellent and the service was attentive. I hadn't eaten here in years but came in off a Groupon. The menu isn't vast but I usually take that to mean they do what they do really well and that certainly seemed to be the case here.
The interior is nicely done and has a classic decor. You can really dress up or dress down and feel right at home. Sodas are poured for you so no free refills but the water was good and cold.
Food: we started with thier fries which are super thin and crispy, a great way to get ready for the main meal. I had the pork chop with grits and roasted Califlower. The chop was super thick but still juicy and tender. The grits had a nice kick to them. My friend ordered the rabbit which she ate every bite of so it must have been as good as she said. I had the carrot cake for dessert, it was dense, moist and the apricot really added something. It was not overly sweet. My friend got the cobbler which was blueberry today and she totally won the best dessert choice...as much as I love carrot cake, and thiers was great, I was uber jealous of her cobbler.
Meal for 2 with an appetizer, a wine and a coke, plus 2 desserts was just over $100 before tip. My tip was automatically added, not sure if it was standard practice or because of the Groupon but our waitress was wonderful so I felt it was acceptable.
I ordered the center cut filet and that was the best steak I ever ate. It literally melted in your mouth. Wonderful flavor. The pimento cheese grits were amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Cannot say enough good things about our experience here. Everyone was friendly. Old fashioned was made PERFECTLY - Manhattan was also very good. The ambiance is elegant but welcoming. Definitely give Marketplace a try on your Urban Bourbon Trail adventure. I wish I could remember our waiter/bartenders name, but he was also very kind and knowledgeable about bourbons. Experiences like this one are reasons why we continue to return to Bourbon Country.
Upscale menu in an intimate setting. We celebrated our 2-year anniversary here with escargot, pork tenderloin, duck and amazing cocktails. Perfect for a special date night!
We used the Marketplace for our Rehearsal Dinner for our wedding. At first, I got aggravated as there was a lack of communication on their part. However, despite the delay in responses, everything was figured out in time for the dinner and everything was executed exactly as we planned! The food was delicious! Several of our guests have mentioned this to me several times since the dinner. And the venue was beautiful! We rented the back patio area under the pavilion. I was a little nervous having a dinner outside in June, but it turned out to be wonderful! They were very accommodating and helpful the day of! I would definitely recommend the Marketplace for an event!

Before Show Dining
We frequent the Palace and are always looking for new restaurants to try and this was no exception; however, I tried to reserve a table in the past and they go quickly so this time when I ordered my Palace tickets I made our dinner reservations at the same time and we were not disappointed. With all the construction there was a parking advisory but since we had a 5:30 dinner reservation we were able to park very close and since the restaurant is mere steps from the Palace we opted for dessert and coffee following our meal which had us at the theater in plenty of time for the 8:00 performance. When I made the reservation I stated that one of the party was vegetarian and our menu selections reflected that request. The vegetarian had a starter of roasted vegetables and a gnocchi main dish which were excellent! The meat lover of the party enjoyed the poached egg salad on smoked salmon starter followed by lamb shank main course. We shared a pear cobbler with coffee. Everything was exceptional, even the coffee. Our server was attentive and the level of conversation was very comfortable. We are already planning our next visit.
Amazing and delicious. Go here! Skip Fourth Street Live restaurants and head here for a far superior dining experience. Marketplace has great food, excellent service and absolutely beautiful decor. The ambiance and decor are striking and modern. The outside seating is a real treat in the warmer months. I have lunch and dinner here regularly as it is a very short walk from my office. I have a lot of experience with Marketplace and I've never been disappointed with any selection on the menu. The menu changes at least seasonally. This is a locally owned restaurant and I see the owners there nearly every time I visit.
Prices are decent. Desert was delicious. Ordered the Chicken cordon bleu, it looked different than what I expected, but turned out to be really good. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were good too. The menu is limited and specific but plentiful. While I just had water they had soft drinks and unsweetened tea. Classy restaurant yet inexpensive. Patio is really relaxing as well if you prefer to eat outside. Service was fast and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Would return.
Absolute exceptional service. The atmosphere and ambiance is wonderful and relaxing. Beautiful lighting. Waiters and host, all wonderful. My partner and I came last year also for our anniversary and the chef remembered us. Our food was nothing less than perfect. I can't say enough good things about this place. I wish we had one in TN. We will drive 2 hours every year just for the experience.
The food was just okay but the customer service was amazing. I had calamari as an appetizer...it was very pale and unseasoned. I had chicken as my entree, it was a little dry and under seasoned but the kale and yukon mashed potatoes were delicious. I would go back because the customer service was great and I met some amazing people.

Wonderful restaurant in the downtown area. The room is large but still manages a cozy feel. Staff is excellent as is the cocktail selection. Sadly, they recently stopped the live music. When they start live music again, I'll give them 5 stars...
The short ribs were AMAZING! Huge dinner portion so be warned but worth every bite! Brussel sprouts were great, too. Service was excellent especially with me being a single diner. I don't give out a lot of 5 star ratings but the Marketplace Restaurant deserves it!
