Duck curry is mind-blowingly good!!!
Grew up on this place. I grew up eating Lard Na here. I remember as far back as
1988. This is the best place in LA and better than my Mom's cooking.
Best thai food I've eaten in LA, and I've been to Thailand myself!
I am a pad thai fanatic. About every other week, I ask J, "You know what I'm craving?" and he, knowing the answer by now, responds, "Pad thai?" Indeed, my good man. Indeed. As a result of my obsession, I am always on the hunt for new Thai restaurants and
Don't let the entrance fool you. This place served really great Thai foods. I went there and had shrimp tom yum along with shrimp fried rice with curry. The tom yum was delicious. The balance between the heat and sour was on point. The fried rice was creamy. The fried rice was slightly bland, but it came with salty pepper dip of some sort, so dipping the shrimp there occasionally made it perfect.
Do beware that the restroom was a bit dirty, and they only accepted cash.
The people working here are sooo welcoming and kind. Feels like you’re apart of the family. It was very busy when I went in. And the food came out quick. I ordered the fish soup. Oh my goodness, it is so fresh and delightful!!!
Friendly, good food.
Ordered the shrimp fried rice & glass noodle salad and of course a thai tea.
Love coming here for food, I need to make another trip.
We had a FEAST at Yai! I’m surprised it doesn’t have good amount of reviews. Amazing flavors, vegeterian curry and delicious duck curry! I had the Nam Tok Beef salad and the taste was out of this world! My taste buds were going crazy!!! Try the shrimp soup too!

Authentic Thai food in a casual setting. Between my date and I, ordered:
-Green Curry with chicken
-Pad see ew with beef + fried egg
The curry was rich and flavorful, with Thai eggplant and bamboo shoots that were well received. The chicken was cooked well.
Pad see ew was delicious and good portion. Only strange thing is that fried egg is sold separately ($3), even though that’s a necessary component of the dish.
Either way, came out to $32, $38 after tip, and they are cash only. I’d definitely come back!
This is probably my favorite Thai place now. Their Chinese sausage and pork fried rice was so flavorful that we ate the entire plate, and their pad see ew is one of the best in town. The soup was a little salty but still good!
Cash only so don’t forget.
Authentic Thai food in Thai town🤤🤤 so happy I was introduced to this hidden gem by a friend
In Thai, ‘Yai’ means grandma & the name is so fitting as the food was so comforting and legit.

🍽️Ordered:
1. BBQ pork
2. Tom kha gai (hot & sour chicken soup w/ coconut milk)
3. Pad see ew w/ shrimp
Every dish was exploding with flavor & I loved how they all complemented each other. The bbq pork was my favorite which is surprising bc I don’t love pork! The sauce that it was paired with was just so delicious 👌🏻
The Tom kha gai was super creamy and just tangy enough. It’s the perfect dish to have on a cold day ☺️
💡Tips:
-bring cash!! This spot is cash ONLY
-there is a small parking lot so if you go on a weekday it’s pretty easy to find parking
💰Price:
$56/meal
Yai has my vote for top tier Thai food. It is one of the best places in Thai Town in my opinion. I have tried all the spots around, and Yai does the classics very well. The crab fried rice is SO good and comes with a ton of crab!
It is cash only.
The space itself is lacking for a nice meal out. It is a very minimal and has pretty much no decorations, but the food makes up for the atmosphere. The staff is always friendly!
Best Thai Fried rice in a while! I ordered the a combination chicken & beef to go. Delicious, not dry or bland at all! I used to go to Torung , but the quality of their food has gone down hill. I think I found my new Favorite Thai restaurant. Food portion was great❤️
Not gone lie me and my brother where looking for a bathroom and the 7/11 across didn't have a bathroom so we went to this place just to buy the lowest item like a tea just so we can use the bathroom. My bro got the tea but I decided to get the fried pork belly since the lady at the counter recommended after I asked what was the most popular item here. I used the bathroom quick and let me tell you the bathroom was super clean compared to other establishments I visited. So I got done with my business and got the food to go, I hoped in the car and decided to give it a little nibble since I was driving all the way to San Diego. And not gone lie the first bite got me hooked idk how to explain it but I honestly love that dish with that little side of sour cup they give you. The veggies where crunchy. Not gone lie I literally stayed there in the parking lot with the car on devouring that plate. Made me want to go to Thailand and get me a wife out there lol. But great service, great food, the bathrooms are clean and I will recommend this to anyone specially that fried pork belly. Oh and that dish is so good it literally made me do my first food/restaurant review. Can't wait to go back and eat again.
