They serve pork ribs that are tender and delicious. The meat was juicy and soft. The taste was awesome! It was served with mashed potatoes and salad. The quality was definitely good. The ambience is superb! It's a must-try restaurant.

This review is kinda late, about a month late. But anyway, I had a great experience! My cousin actually recommended this, so I said why not, I've been waiting to eat some ribs for quite some time.

First and foremost, the staff were accommodating. From the moment you step in, you feel the care up until you order, while you eat, then when leaving.
Next, love the food! Seriously love the food! Ordered the ribs (6pcs -- I got 7 though. Woot woot!) with slaw, and potato salad. Was quite disappointed with the slaw. Got accustomed to KFC's slaw I guess. Lol. Oh, they also have a loaf of bread (white/brown) on the table which is free while eating! Pluuuus, they have the bbq sauces (mild/spicy) ready on the table. Phew. Just amazing. I have nothing else to say but amazing.

Will come back for sure when I visit LA again!

Great bbq, for a southern man the city is lacking in that department. Thank god for this place.

Rockin' the ribs. Besides its great transit-friendly location (a block and a half from Union Station), Spring Street Smokehouse loads up diners with great smoked meats.

Spring Street's ribs are outta sight. They're tender, smoky, fall-off-the-bone and stand out with no need for sauce.

Second best is the buttery and juicy briskets. The same goes for the burnt ends, an unpleasant name for a concentrated taste of chewy meat, fat and smoke.

The sampler gives ribs, brisket, chicken and a hot link, plus a side, and is a great value for the money.

Finish your meal with a glass of imported or microbrew beer. The selection is a winner.

Bison ribs....mmm!. Popped into spring street smoke house with a couple buddies after volunteering at the midnight mission on sunday. since we were downtown and bbq on the mind, spring street it was!

we rolled in around 1:40pm and were warmly greeted by the staff and ordered up some brewski's.

food:
sampler plate: 2 spare ribs, hot link, smoked chicken & pulled brisket. the spare ribs were awesome, nicely smoked and tender. the hot link was bleh, the casing did not snap and the filling was kinda mushy. the smoked chicken and brisket were both decent, however, every other piece was dry.

bison ribs: these rocked. i've never had bison ribs so we ordered up the plate as it was a special for the day. a bit gamey (which i love) but a bit dry. the meat had a nice smoke ring on it...awesome!

four rib basket: this was a big ole plate loaded down with spare ribs. my friend seemed to enjoy her plate.

bbq sauce: we asked for the hot version and it was not really hot. the bbq sauce at smoke house is on the watery side and did not really pack a big punch.

i dig the fact that they leave a loaf of bread on the table fur us to use to eat with the meat and to sop up the sauce.

service was very good with waters refilled quickly and with the staff checking in on us every so often. the folks at smoke house are very friendly and really made us feel at home.

decent bbq for dtla/chinatown but not "oh my gosh" good. extra points for having ice cold beer (with a killer selection from belgium to craftsman to local brews).

So at the moment, Spring Street Smokehouse is batting .500. I am not going to pass judgement just yet, and will chalk it up to one of those days, but I know that next time I go may be the time that makes or breaks it for me.

All Chinatown excursions don't have to be about herb stores and dim sum. Don't blink because you might just miss one of the best barbecue places in L.A. The Smokehouse offers all the meats you would expect from an all-American classic barbecue joint (and

This was a SOLID meal. The meats were awfully moreish and so smokily GOOD. I especially liked the brisket - which I ordered, by the way - because it was extremely fall-apart-tender, very flavorful, and very moist. (Good choice, Gabe. *pat myself on the back*) The chicken took on the smoke REALLY well. The tri-tip was the weakest of the bunch, but it was still good nevertheless. The sides - French fries, baked beans, and cole slaw - were decent, however, the real stars were the meats. As for the sauces, "PP" requested the spicy and mild BBQ sauces on the side, which was a CRUCIAL move. You see, at Spring Street Smoke House, meats are sauced then served. "PP" and I weren't big fans of the sauces and I think the meats would've been ruined if they were covered in sauce. The sauces were too vinegary and sweet for my taste.

Best BBQ I've had in years! The meat was incredibly tender, and the sauce was it's perfect pairing. My husband and I LOVED the mac and cheese, too, it's unlike any I've had before in flavor, and the most perfect creaminess. My husband was rabing about the thick, delicious chili as well. Our waiter/host/bartender was the nicest person and made us feel so comfortable in a town we've never visited before. I highly recommend this restaurant for food, service, and homey ambiance!

This place is really good Carolina style bbq. The meat was tender and juicy. And the sides were delicious. My favorite thing was the chili. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they forgot my side dishes and I had to ask for them and the tongs on the table were dirty from the previous customer otherwise I would definitely give 5 stars. Even with those small issues I will definitely be back to try more items.

Amazing service from the guy who was working morning shift on Sunday! He hooked us up with fries which was the highlight of our experience at this local bbq spot. The quality of meat was mouthwatering to handle since I haven’t had bbq for a long time. Their bbq sauce which is off to the side is tangy and adds extra juice to the texture of meat, especially the spicy bbq! If you’re looking for a kickback smokehouse that’s not in a busy area this is one of your choices. There’s meter parking down the block and a parking lot that charges you $4 all day.

Nice little find in DTLA close to union station. It's a cool little BBQ spot. They also do craft beers. The chicharon was really good. It had a little spice with some sweet overtones. Great crunch and flavor. We shared a 2 meat platter. We got the beef ribs and brisket, with corned bread and mac & cheese as our side. The beef ribs were good. We got it without sauce to try the meat on it's own. It's way better with the sauce. They have 2 options, one is sweet and the other a little spicy. The brisket was good. My buddy got bunt ends. I like mine a little fatty, so these were pretty lean, good flavor though. The pulled pork was good as well. And then I tried a sausage link burger. The link was good. Good flavor with a snap on the bit. This was a pretty good BBQ spot, cant say the best I've ever had, but it's pretty good. You get your money's worth and leave pretty full. I would say, I like the chicharon the best.

I'd say the only problem I had with the dishes here was the overwhelming, overpowering usage of cloves. The ambiance (we ate outside) was exactly what you'd expect. I'd mistakenly ordered the Bread pudding for first time and I'll be making that mistake again & again!

When I travel by train to Los Angeles, this is one place I like to eat. It's just a short walk from Los Angeles Union Station. They have a pretty decent menu and the service has always been good.

Don't good BBQ in Chinatown? You bet. They have a good tap selection of beers also, but it was lunchtime so I didn't have any. My sides weren't dirt friendly, but we're tasty. I had the mac&cheese and chili. My entree was e brisket! I do wish that the spicy BBQ and the chili were spicier. It was a good sign when I saw firemen wasting there. "Go where the firemen eat, is a great guideline.

OMG....first visit there...I fell in love with the place. Walk in and you forget that Downtown L.A is right outside. The blues music takes you away. The food...OMG!! The food will make you call Jenny Craig...but it's worth it!! Amanda is the bar keep whole I was there and she was great and great to talk to when she had time!! GREAT FOOD. GREAT ATMOSPHERE, GREAT STAFF!! Make this place a "For Sure" place to go to.

Great! This smokehouse is one of the best in L.A. A hidden gem just a few blocks from downtown. I've ordered from here to go and have it at family gatherings but eating at the Restaurant is second to none! Ribs were smoked and seasoned just right with the perfect amount of char. Burnt ends were awesome and the baked beans.... DAMN GOOD. A must have if you're craving BBQ.

Great food. Had the ribs, sausage, creamy coleslaw, potatoes salad and corn bread. The ribs were well prepared and had great flavor. They have different sauces to pick from at your table. The sausage was mild and flavorful. Creamy coleslaw had a peeper flavor to it yet it was on the drier side, but it worked well with the flavor. The potatoes salad was flavorful. The corn bread was definitely different. It had small pieces of jalapeno backed into it, but it was not spicy. This was a good twist on corn bread. Portions are good and the prices were adequate. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The servers were friendly and accomodating. This place is small and has 4 big screen TV's at the bar area. They have beers on tap and wines. The lemonade is made fresh and taste just like homemade. We ended our meal with a small soft and chewy chocolate chip cookie packed with chocolate chips. I definitely plan on coming back to try more of there plates that they offer. Sorry that there was no pictures, because I dug into the food as soon as it got to our table.
