Food was hit or miss, but service was excellent which pushed it to 4 stars
Short rub was a bit light on seasoning but well cooked
Meatballs were tough
Oysters were excellent
Catalan makes this place feel like home! Every time my dad comes in town, Metro is our first stop. Last evening we went for dinner and right as we were seated, Catalan brought my dad his favorite beer. Amazing to remember this as my dad only visits every 6 months. The food is consistently good- the patio is beautiful- but Catalan is the reason we keep coming back!
Was not ordering from the menu add it was an event but everything that was brought out, impressed. Interesting and well done dishes. IE: Mushroom, caramelized onion and goat cheese on toast points. Or chicken breast sliders on pretzel rolls. Just wonderful👍🏼.
Large eatery with great outdoor seating. It seems people come for the drink variety, which is truly substantial. Waitstaff was stellar; good serving rhythms, with authentic care. We had the coque au vin and the pork tenderloin Schnitzel. These dishes were both savory with ample entree size; however they were both bland because I believe they were prepared salt free! The flavors in each dish were very nice; the chicken with mushroom and carrots in entree juices was very good, as was the braised red cabbage and Schnitzel truly pleasant, but adding salt to already cooked food ruins it, in my humble opinion. We split a Banana Walnut Bread Pudding for desert and it had strange chewy chunks in it that were clearly not the walnuts; it was “meh”. The Capuchino served was very good. I would still return as it is a great place to linger in long conversation over lunch, and since restaurant is so large, there is no pressure from waitstaff to move along! I sincerely appreciated that hospitality!
I highly recommend Metro. Excellent fresh food that will not disappoint. In today's visit I had the Pork Loin Schnitzel, a Chimay Triple White (on tap) and Kentucky Sugarwood cocktail. Everything was absolutely on point, with the schnitzel being perfectly pounded, breaded and with just the right amount of butter and lemon to make every bite bright and balanced. The Chimay is great off the tap with a head that stays all the way to the last drop and the Kentucky Sugarwood went down smooth but not without tasting of bourbon.
As I always say, Lamorinda is a food desert. However. Metro is my go to place when my foodies friends from out of town visit. The place has indoor, outdoor, as well as an atrium setting. I've tried almost everything on the rotating menu as well as all appetizers and desserts, and I love everything.
Brunch, patio, bar
A very nice local place. Don't be put off by its slightly odd location (in the middle of the parking lot next to Jackson's Wines & Spirits).
The service is always very good. They serve a great $17 hamburger. Sunday brunch is very popular. They have a lovely patio that is very popular on nice days. There is a full-service bar that makes all the basics plus all the foofoo drinks.
