Excellent meal; our fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked! Really delicious, hot and fresh. Like many island restaurants they may be a little understaffed, but patience is a virtue and the food is well worth the wait and the lovely atmosphere.
Best restaurant on Kauai that I’ve tried, hands down. The fish here is incredible, especially the yellowtail with Jalapeño in a truffle ponzu sauce which is the best thing I’ve eaten in recent memory. Highly recommend the calamari which is super tender and very different from others that I’ve tried. The over the top sushi rolls are also good, but I would recommend trying their other stuff first. Book ahead as it does fill up despite what the popularity graphs look like. Great view of the sunset though slightly obscured by some trees.

Adding the star back on because they allowed us to stay on the porch till 5pm when the restaurant was opened. The poke bowl, the dolphin roll, and the chowder were excellent. Also very friendly staff!

I am taking one star off the rating because we went there again at 4pm to enjoy a meal on the lanai. But they kicked us out because they had to start setting up for dinner. We’d already purchased our food and drinks. The chowder was still delicious though.

Went there around 2pm before the farmers market started at 3:30. Dine in 5-8 everyday, fish market 12-5 Mo-Fr. Bought food at the fish market, then enjoyed lunch at their beautiful lanai.
Great dinner. Excellent food and fresh fish. Loved the seared Teriyaki Ahi and the Cali Roll. Good service and an excellent meal overall.
Prices are fair for Kauai. This is expensive- but not as much as some places. It's on our list to do again next time we are here!
We wanted to have a sushi and Dolphin Poipu was recommended to us. We made a reservation and was seated immediately.
We ordered cocktails and ordered the shrimp cocktail, lava, hanalei, poipu and sunset over the top rolls. It was definitely enough food for five people.
The restaurant is in the Shops of Kukui'ula in Kauai, Hawaii. There is plenty of parking. If you happened to have to wait for a table, there are tons of fun shops to peruse through.
We ate at the sushi bar and had the rainbow poke. It’s the best poke we have had on the island. I got the poke over rice and my wife had it over salad. I’m picky about my rice. I don’t like it hard or mushy. It was perfect! Friendly staff, good food and fresh fish!
We had reservations so got in right away. Had a bit of a wait for drinks and food but we were okay with it. The atmosphere was awesome and our server was the only server in our area. I wish I could remember her name. She was doing a great job and tried not to let her frustration show. The food was amazing!! Three of us ordered the Sunset Roll and none of us were disappointed with it. I got the surf and turff with Ahi and Tenderloin and it was so delicious. If I ever come back to Kauai I will eat here again.
Started with calamari, incredible! Had some sushi, some teriyaki ahi and a delicious hebi!!! Every bite was delicious! Waiter was super knowledgeable and helpful in our selections.
Service is outstanding! The staff here have a family vibe! The chefs are top notch!

Husband and I came 30 min early and was told will be called shortly as soon as there's a table available... true enough we were seated within 10 min... our server was warm and friendly... despite having other guests to attend to she was on point and checked on us regularly... the whole place was packed but we were served on a timely manner. I ordered clam chowder which was delicious, ocean salad and Dolphin Roll which was ok. Husband liked his sashimi sampler and Lava Flow. The Lava Roll for him was just ok. All in all we enjoyed our dining experience at The Dolphin Poipu.
Went back here twice that’s how good it was!!! Endless amount of items on the menu!! So good even if you aren’t a fish eater like myself. Best loaded baked potato. A must go!!!
