This place was good, I liked the stuff that I got on the menu! The service was good and the place was nice! I didn’t enjoy the weather that day so we wanted to go to a place that was just down the street and this place was perfect!
Cinnamon Roll. Great way to start the day! Warm. Not overly sweet and full of flavor.
Great Breakfast. We had a big Cinnamon roll $ 4, French Toast $ 10, and an Omelet with Portuguese Sausage, Cheese, and onions $ 11 ~ great food , friendly & quick service, great coffee, would recommend to all as a breakfast stop when you are in the area. March 2014
Had a Wonderful breakfast. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Food arrived quite promptly. We shared 'Over the Falls' French toast with pineapple and coconut - Heavenly! Sides of eggs and Portuguese sausage. Mac Nut cinnamon bun was also Heavenly or devilishly rich depending on your perspective.

Just finished an ono breakfast here! The macadamia nut cinnamon roll is superb! We also had the Over the Falls French toast which was so moist and sweet that they don't serve it with syrup. The coffee was Kona, which was a little surprising, as Kauai coffee can definitely hold its own against the Kona. But you can't complain about Kona coffee! Don't miss out on the Portuguese sausage, either! Staff was friendly and rushed off their feet at this busy busy place, but they were very attentive as well!
In reference to another review here, there is a sign at the door asking you to wipe your feet. I assume he was just a typical "American tourist" and having a really bad day because everybody in the restaurant now is happily eating and chatting end enjoying the beautiful day! :)
Smaller portions but the food was good. I had the French toast and it was some of the best I've ever had. My wife had a breakfast quesadilla and also liked her meal. We shared a Mac nut cinnamon roll that was very good. Nothing outstanding but it was a good breakfast before a day at the beach. BRING CASH as this restaurant only accepts cash no credit!!
No problems here - good, but not great. Despite the many negative reviews, I had no problems with the Wake-up Cafe.
Service wasn't stellar, but wasn't bad. Similarly the food was good, but not great. They generally offer "fuel" breakfasts (although my wife says the French Toast, which is a little bit fancy, was good).
If you're wanting something fancy, either service or food-wise; you might want to go elsewhere. But, if you want a basic breakfast, I don't think you'll go wrong here.
Good food.... Hanalei Wake-Up Cafe is easily visible off of 560 driving west on the right side of the road. This place dishes up breakfast food only but their Over the Falls is heavenly. I enjoyed that sucker from the first bite down to the last. My wife had the omelette which was pretty average. It's not cheap but nothing is cheap in Kauai. I'd definitely go back.
Where I go for breakfast. Every time I visit Kauai I eat here at least a couple of times. Everything I've had is good including the Omelet, Hang Ten, Quesadilla and Regular French Toast. If you like sausage try side of their Portuguese sausage. It is big enough to split 2 ways. I like the street-side seating. The service is good too.
Breakfast was ok. Usual breakfast items. It's small in there so come early. My rice was a tad dry, however my Portuguese sausage was a perfect portion. Prices were reasonable.
